- Finally Araxxor is here, but it's not exactly what we were hoping for. A toned down slayer boss is not the boss I wanted for from the iconic multi phase RS3 boss. His most important drop is an upgraded amulet of torture (the amulet of rancor) and I think this is a real opportunity to knock blood fury out of meta. The noxious halberd and improved anti-venom drops are interesting, but that amulet is really what it's all about. Hopefully Jagex get this right!

New Boots should just be BIS Crush. Tribrid boots with a High Slayer Req is just weird.
It will be upgrade for irons but mains will still stick with blood fury unless buffed for sure

@@ZephosBalnazzar Don't forget TOA or most high level content in general, which, every iron will eventually be doing at some point.... so why wouldn't irons use blood fury again? They are also *the* most afk upgrade you could get. Perfect for downtime where you wouldn't be using the time anyway

This dude can’t help but complain about mid level content. There is nothing wrong with note mid game content. End game content is always good but there is a difference between things like end game content and the colosseum and the inferno. Those are things that are beyond end game that most people won’t even touch.
the boots being higher slay req than prims and friends feels like they should be better than them aswell, the effect is cool but its just brimestone boots for spiders
Not neccesarily universally better, but they do deserve better base stats than the current proposed ones. It should be a niche upgrade for 1 style (crush) instead of a universal bis with higher strength bonus

@@koenwijnen8278 spiders are weak to crush, boots come from spider boss. Boots should give 4 str and 8 crush and small range/mage bonuses.
Honestly, the Halberd special attack should have been x5 instead just x1. No one is gonna wait until 20 venom for 20% more accuracy and damage, which is a baseline for most special attacks.
It might be also funny cheese as well if it was at x5 vs K'rill which has a 16 poison. 80% bonus accuracy and damage. Hitting over 100 possibly in a single blow.
5x would make it a pretty interesting pvp weapon too, would add risk to using serp/toxic staff

Its still an awkward concept, because it provides no immunity and the spec cost is too high to consistently clear poison.
you would need to either actively forego poison immunity to get repoisoned and tank a lot of poison damage inbetween specs, or use very low tier antipoisons inbetween specs regens.
Overall it doesn't seem worth the hassle of juggling immunity & repoisoning considering the other damage specs we have available
Halbred seems nice for melee only inferno/jads CA's. I'm hoping it has more uses as people cook up more ideas. Using a halbred in CG is a lot of fun with the extra range.

In my opinion the boots should be bis crush boots, give them 4 str bonus and like 10 crush bonus or something so they actually have a use since spiders are normally weak to crush and keep the web effect. Also think the halberd’s spec should be changed to be a slightly buffed crystal hally spec that has a guaranteed chance to venom a target if it can be. Would also be cool to be able to combine the halberd with the scythe to make a venom scythe like the og noxious scythe and give it extra range but that might be a bit busted. I do agree with your thoughts on the rancor tho but 16 str bonus is 6 str bonus over a tort and 8 over a fury is kind of insane when you think about it from a slayer boss especially. Should make it like 12-14 imo and wait for another upgrade to hit that next threshold, would be much healthier for the game and the progression of it instead of making another occult situation.
I don't agree with the Occult change or see an issue with a +16 str necklace as a new BIS melee necklace. Amulets have always been one of your biggest sources of damage in this game; traditionally they would always give a much bigger DPS bonus than any of your armor pieces. A Strength ammy has +10 strength bonus, and a guaranteed 2 sometimes 3 max hits and costs 1k. Would a new BIS amulet that gives 4 max hits on most weapons be such a bad thing for the game?

Kinda funny how ez Araxxor is on rs3 now... You spend most of your time waiting for the next phase to start because you can dps it down so quick. Still not a complete push over, but interesting to think how much power creep we have had! I mean, the new necromancy skill requires you to kill him to upgrade you armour to t90 haha!

Totally agree it's disappointing seeing Araxxor downgraded to a slayer boss. Your amulet proposal sounds great, and it'd be a cool drop if they went back to the drawing board on this and gave Araxxor the difficulty he deserves.
How do you know it's downgraded? Just because you need a slayer requirement to kill doesn't mean it won't be the toughest mofo in game 😂

The only thing they mentioned is that the boss is easier than Awakened DT2 bosses, this kinda implies that it's still harder than the normal Dt2 bosses.
They mentioned it would not be difficult. Araxxor in Rs3 on release had difficulty and dropped BiS.

@@CapeSkill And because theyre entirely optional and only killable on-task. They can't make them too impactful or they'd force the entire player base to participate in slayer which they are not going to do
Just another boss for irons to have to waste time grinding probably on task only for items... or collection loggers... and like you said they just nerfed occult for the same shit but now lets drop a BiS amulet from a slayer boss... the stupidity of jagex never ceases to amaze me

I hate the arraxor idea because it takes everything away from the boss thats great.
Its not going to be difficult and theyve already acknowledged that, when theyre releasing boots that help you scuff verzik webs and ignore ideal olm placement in flame phass that tells me everything i need to know.
Theres one item thats interesting and like you said, it needs a buff, so the rewards are meh too

Blood fury was basically engineered in a lab to be the most boring possible item. Method to obtain is horrifically boring, chargescape is boring, and constant healing > dps is boring. They should nerf it into orbit.
Aranea boots plus blood fury means you can almost completely, literally, afk Sarachnis

Say what you want about rs3, but araxxor is the most pleasant grind i've had in (runescape) regardless of version (when it was meta that is)
i can see why people disagree with some of your opinions, but having the melee amulet be the "i don't need the healing crutch" amulet like bfury is impossible to argue against, it's how it should've been from the start
I would like to see a different melee weapon or maybe 2 other weird weapons for range/mage (maybe a minimal blowpipe upgrade or swamp upgrade) coming from the boss so it has the feel of the rs3 choice! I also completely agree with your amulet proposal and it should take an avernic or something to complete it for that 5-7% increase! I also saw something about Noxious Ornament kits for the trio of megarares (tbow scythe staff) on reddit and it looked cool!
It kind of makes sense that they added blood fury as melee tanks hits from all 3 styles but mage and range only have to tank the 2 but it really should have been a standalone item with minimal stats. That way it would have given them room to introduce specific dps amulets for specific styles
Push slayer req to 97 or 98 then buff +4 more str than fury
Blood fury shouldn’t be needed but rancor should be made better and untradable or pretty rare.

I would like for them to touch up the fight. When araxxor first came out, we weren't able to do as much damage as we can now. Now the fight is prolonged for no reason. We can pretty much kill Araxxor by the time the web is 50% burnt, and then we just have to stand there doing nothing just waiting.
@@Mysterio1021 they can keep a lot of the similar mechanics, but adjust a few of them for the change over for osrs combat. like the Web attack when you are entangled. no freedom/anticipate to make you get free easier or prevent it. They just would need to tone it down so you need to spam click less to escape.
same with the leg sweep.. just give extra time to dodge/react to it.

If its a halberd in the sense it gets 1 extra attacking tile. Wouldnt it be good at p2 for the attack cycles you cant be directly next to verzik for?

it'll still be worse than scy/soulreaper which lose 1/16 ticks to dodging bounce, and saeldor doesn't lose ticks since it matches verzik's attack speed. it's theoretically easier since you can't get bounced, but since your attacks won't drag you anymore you just risk getting hit by cabbages instead, so i don't think it's much easier. I've tried shadow p2 and it feels more awkward than just meleeing

Cerb drops bis boots at 90 slayer and it’s boostable with 85, this isn’t boostable also… I think this dropping BIS ammy is practically within the 92 slayer req… I do agree it should get a buff to 16+ Str bonus. The Halberd may not be BIS, but it's filling in a BIG whole in the gear progression. Tentacle whip to Saeldor is a HUGE leap in cost. Your choices at that level are a 3m tent whip (if it's even that much anymore) or a 140m Saeldor which also needs costly crystal shards to use, or requires like 40m worth of crystal shards to corrupt. Either way, there's a HUGE hole in the slash weapon progression to fill in, so I'm still excited for it.
However, I don't like the special attack. I don't like the idea of it requiring some outside factor in order to be useful. That means the special attack only has value in situations where you actually could be venomed, which are VERY rare. I hope they change it because as it is, that's kinda useless.
imagine thinking a halberd is the weapon of choice when you could've had another bow that's barely better or less powerful than bowfa. that halberd better have multiple hit splats similar to the scythe
that halberd is just horrible. a 3rd 5 tick slash weapon in the last year is crazy. wish it were at least at soulreaper tier strength, it would be interesting to search for utility with the extra melee distance, but there’s no point on a weapon this weak.
Those boots stop anti pking at Ven(if they actually work on its web). stupid imo. was the only way to deal with ragging clans.

I’m just more so excited for another slayer boss. The halberd is an absolute joke and usually bosses in osrs have uniques that are best for said boss. So to me the halberd doesn’t seem like the proper fit.
Chip damage is gonna be the future of content so I don’t see bloodfury going anywhere, hell rancor + bloodshard is probably possible
honestly,i think the halberd should have a spider bane effect on it, and then adjust the stats so that it isnt better than scythe at verzik, but still better than saeldor there. would have given it a really nice niche. As for the new melee amulet, eh. its what torture should have been in the first place, because all the other zenyte stuff is just way better.
I really would like to see jagex revise the boots stats, tribrid is cool but not when the stats are so terrible, there should be a real incentive to use these over just camping prims/eternals or bringing both
I wished the new BIS amulet was more than just an upscale torture (+5 combat stats over torture and no defensive stats). Other than a higher strength bonus, a passive effect or hell even defensive stats on top of the combat stats would have been better than how it is right now. Maybe that’s just me though

imo Halberd special should: Cost 25%, heal for the amount the venom/poison would have ticked and increase damage of your next attack by 20% (or higher if they change the venom max hit), still a niche use but its league better than 60% spec cost and lack of damaging hit (no one is waiting 2 minutes for venom to hit its highest)

I get that the Noxious Halberd seems underwhelming (and maybe needs to be better than it is, who cares if it's BIS in a few bosses?), but as a veteran player who just now is completing DT2 and doesn't have full max gear, a stepping stone between Tent Whip and Soulreaper Axe/Scythe would feel really good at Duke and Vardorvis. It sucks to have to spend my Arclight charges and worry about maintaining a 4-tick cycle at Duke because I can't afford Scythe and don't want to settle for Zombie Axe.
This weapon has the potential to fill that niche; especially with the idea of it being another venom weapon to use against the very few bosses that are poisonable bringing the serp helm back into the meta on a few bosses. I would also love it if they added some more bosses in the future that could be envenomed or poisoned because those mechanics have never really had a place that doesn't feel totally irrelevant imho.
im personally hoping the remove venom immunity from a few of the older bosses, or even some raid bosses. it would be cool if zebak/akkha/baba were vulerable to venom so maybe it would be worth having a "venom guy" in the raid
My boy, firelight is coming out, unlimited charged better arc light that will likely compete with scythe at duke. Blade is better than tent whip also for both duke and vard

They could easily add something like damage against spiders / spider minions or recovery of run speed when a web would normally hit to the boots just to give it a little something to make it worth while, they seem so weak right now
The special attack really is pointless. I think it still needs to have the same special as the other halberds, maybe deal more damage vs poisonous targets.
Adding a blood shard to a fury should have always reduced the furys stats by some amount of you ask me so there is a real trade off. The power creep from guthans to blood shard is wild
In Rs3 there's definitely an over reliance on learner items like the blood fury. I do hope the new amulet gets decent use

bloodfury is op. the new amu is an upgrade. if you nerf bloodfury now it would nerf melee as a whole. giving us an upgrade and then nerfing bloodfury a bit repositions it as a utility item without causing outcry in the community. making a neckpiece a 7% dps increase over an op item is just powercreep and unhealthy for the future of the game.
It's hardly power creep when Torture Amulet came out over 8 years ago lol. Power creep can be healthy for a game. Nerfing instead of buffing is always the bad way to go
@@GnomonkeyRS power creep has no timeframe it is only the increase of overall player power. While a bit over time is natural and gives people new stuff to thrive for, increasing player power too quickly or in big increments feels good momentarily but destroys game balance in the mid term.

I was hoping for the noxious scythe, staff and bow to come back but as slayer weapons, could be a nice way to do slayer with BIS weapons grinding for money on slayer tasks, but sadly not
I think slayer bosses are all really tame and campy. This seems like a good chance to step it up a bit.

Heres a comment to help with algorithm, and also a place i can vent my thoughts.
The halbred is op for pvp if used as a whack weapon like ags when youre out of spec, i doubt it will be used that way but depending how useless itll be for pvm considering its essentially 2h tent whip dps equivalent for most bosses. it may be an inexpensive pvp upgrade for ags accounts. Not a big fan of that personally until they make voidwaker 55%spec in pvp due to its sheer OP ness. Voidwaker is an 80m cheatcode for 200 free damage in a pvp deep wildy outlast fight. Simply put a lot of these updates devalue a lot of the old content on accident and make the wilderness more dead without proper balancing. Its so hard to go into the wilderness as it is with the bots and AHKers, let alone when they have a tick faster ags whack that can venom you. as far as the amulet and boots, the amulet should need to be combined with torture imo, because it makes gorillas a waste of time to go for and onyx a waste as well for ironmen. As far as mains go the amulet just further devalues torture so whatever thats fine. All in all we nerfed occult because it comes from a slayer boss and did a whole magic rework to simply add another slayer boss BIS necklace??? Wtf gagex.
how is hally a good pvp weapon.. shits dead content man... its a stepping stone for irons who use tent but didnt get lucky enough to get a 2nd enhanced from CG and thats literally it... no use case for a regular account to ever use it.. better off going from whip > tent whip > salad non corrupt if you got the cash > soul reaper axe > scythe

The halberd should hit 2x per swing not quite par with scythe but a half step for big targets think of it as the bowfa to a tbow.
Bowfa to tbow = soulreaper to scythe.
You cant make this halberd better or even close to soulreaper.. its bis niche need to come from its range utility that needs cooking or intentional boss design; ie.. hitting levis weak spot, lizardmen shamans afk, designing a boss/phase where you cant be in melee range either bc of damage (imagine whisp but melee weakness) or just unable to reach otherwise.

This video confirms that jagex shpuld base content around the 99% of the player base not the 1%. Gnomemonkey you’re a beast but these are terrible suggestions. Drops should be accessible to the masses and players like you should push the limits with what we have. Not be considered the skill level required for drops
Drops that are best in slot should not be accessible to everyone. If everyone mmo made BIS gear accessible to low level players, there would be literally no reason to play and progress in the game after a month.
