Are you planting them on the property line??? Is the string the property line. They need to be minimum of 4 foot from the line. They will encroach as they grow and can get upwards of minimum of 10 foot in diameter width.
Really nice full trees you have there. I planted mine similar size (5to6ft height) about 20 months ago in the spring in full sun and a drip line was very needed as they acclimated during the summer heat. They are about 11+ feet now. Love them
@@bcbp14 13ft. Its been almost 3 years now. Starting at 5-6ft. First year they get acclimated... Maybe hit 7ft. So after that first year, i suppose i am getting about 3ft a year
Green giants are beautiful trees I have some as well as Leyland Cypresses on my border they grow very fast mine took off the first year they grew about 4 feet mine are almost 2 years old and they are already 6 feet tall when I got them they were 2 feet or so. I’m sure yours will take off great just make sure you water them in the summertime.
Those are the best looking specimens I have ever seen. I have one in the backyard that I planted a while back that quit growing. If anyone has some suggestions for fertilizing etc., I would appreciate the feedback.
If I remember correctly from what I've read, they prefer spring a little more so that they're able to establish a stable root system before winter freezing comes, but the general rule is before first freeze of winter you can still plant them in early-mid fall and most likely be fine
An update in a couple months would be great. I planted 10 of these that were at least half that size last July and they’ve grown some but I’m wanting to see other people’s experience with these as well.
@@RuralVibesVa I think what people are saying is you needed to plant them a few feet inside you property line because they will quickly grow in width & go over into the neighbors property line.
I cant wait my neighbors always looking. Cant wait to see them grow
Neighbors always looking. Couldn't have said it better myself. Lmfaooo
Yeah exactly here. Some people don't know how to mind their business. Buying 50 of these soon
Year one they sleep. Year two they creep. Year three they leap. 🌲 🌲🌲
mine are on creep mode right now lol
I'm excited about planting the "green giant" for some privacy in my back yard. Thanks for the vid. Cheers.

@@nickf9024 how far apart did you plant them. I’m looking at buying 8 footers
@@Bausjeudisdh I like to plant them 5 ft apart in single rows, or 8 ft apart in a staggered double row
@@nickf9024 thank you

Those Trees look beautiful is there update on tree this summer how are they coming along?
For real privacy, you should have two rows of staggered planting, and you'd have more instant privacy while the trees continue to fill in the gaps.
Lot more trees needed though.
Great step-by-step instructions. Will be doing exactly same project
Thank you.
How big are they now?
You've been busy man! Looks good
Where did you pick up your trees from? How are they doing now?
How are they doing? Got much growth yet?
I wish I could afford 20 four footers. I planted 1 footers.

Early spring or now (March) with a slow release organic fertilizer. These takes about 3 yrs to get established and really take off
Tell me, how bad is the swampiness of the landing site for thuja? Will they get along? Will they hurt?
I believe they prefer well drained soil.
Was this in the spring, or in the fall? What zone? We are in zone 6 and wondering when to plant ours. Also, great tip with the spray paint!

Will you post an update video in the future to see how they've grown?
I will try. If everyone is ready for an update on them, remind me again and I will make a quick update.

Great choice. What state do I live in?
Virginia.
would you make an update video? :)
modernwize yes, I will try and show an update as soon as I can. We are having a very rainy weekend so hopefully next week. Thanks for watching.
How they look
Update video?
Are you planting them that close to the property line? How wide do they get when they mature?
Yes, my goal is to make a solid “green fence”. I spaced them I believe about 8 ft apart.

It's illegal to plant or build anything that close to the property line in my area...I can't belive you are allowed to in your area...
What size did you get?
From what I recall they were about 5-6 feet.
Looks like Tennessee soil? 🙂🤗
Virginia. 😀
@@RuralVibesVa nice! Dem babies grow big up here in Michigan too! 😌😌
