Episode 1 was one of the most incredible anime adaptations I have ever seen. Quite literally a 9 to a 10/10. Episode 2 was so atrocious and laughably bad, it didn't even meet the minimum requirements for an anime episode to look "decent". I've literally seen fan projects with way better animation. 2.9/10 Episode 3 was a slight improvement over episode 2, but the pacing of the source material was the worst from all the other episodes. It had decent moments. 3.5/10 Episode 4, while not as spectacular as episode 1, was clearly made by the same animators as ep1, with the exception of a few 1-2-second clips that looked stiff and ugly, and because of that, it was fantastic. They nailed the ending 9/10. Overall, 6.9/10
Bro u forgot about the first episode quality level if u think the fourth resembles it, it was a normal to kinda good animation while the first was one of the best animated adaptations ever
@cauecarvalho6996 Episode 4 was literally (mostly) animated by the same studio as episode 1 except for a few shots and backgrounds... the main difference is the director of ep1 was let go, which unfortunately does make a huge difference in pacing, transitions, storyboarding, and the overall quality and consistency. So yeah, most of ep4 looked really great in my opinion, but episode 1 was ALL rotoscoped eye candy, and absolutely flawless.
Honestly with the director change I would still prefer this new artstyle more than the average boring Isekai. Just sucks that the episode 1 level of quality is gone

As Chie walks on the road with Mitsuo in her arms asleep she hears a boat horn at the shoreline and starts to run to it and as she gets to the beach she sees a navy patrol boat going by looking for survivors from the town, she puts down Mitsuo and starts shouting too it hoping they will see them, the captain of the boat looks thru his binoculars and sees her calling out to them and orders the boat to stop and pick them up. Chie tries to catch her breath to tell the captain of what happened to the town’s people and that no more rescue attempts be made looking in an empty town and as the boat drives closer to the town Chie screams at the captain to not go near it or they’ll all die then a whirlpool starts to form in front of the boat then the captain forces a hard left turn from the town away from it and saves everyone aboard. Relieved to survive it the captain orders the rescue boat to drive to the next port away from the town and as they pass the dark lighthouse, Mitsuo starts to wake up without everyone noticing and as he looks around he’s confused of where he is and who he is, then he looks up at the lighthouse and sees a pretty girl with wavy curly hair standing on the railing of the tower. Mitsuo is confused because he recognizes her face but can’t remember a name, so he stares at her till the rescue boat starts to go farther away from the town. On the lighthouse stands Kirie watching her little brother get away from the reach of the spiral's cruse, so she blows a kiss goodbye to him knowing he’ll be alive and safe far away and as the sun starts to go down, she says goodbye without saying a word before the cursed lighthouse turns on and in a flash of light in the darkness she disappears. As the bright light from the lighthouse spins around flashing the light on then off the spiral cursed town the view begins to enclose on the center of the tomb to the spiral pod in the darkness where all the town’s people’s faces lay quietly in the dark of the underground tomb and within the pod of the spiral Kirie lays in front of the spiraling light. Naked and floating in its center Kirie sleeps soundly with tears dripping out of her eyes as she smiles with her curly hair flying around her face, the spiral calls out to her in a smoothing calm voice. SPIRAL: KIRIE KIRIE: YES SPIRAL: ARE YOU PLEASED KIRIE: YES, THANK YOU, THANK YOU VERY MUCH FROM MY HEART SPIRAL: KIRIE PLEASE, SING ME A SONG, SING SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL KIRIE: I KNOW JUST WHAT TO SING Kirie closes her eyes and sings KIRIE: DOUJOU-JI DOUJOU-JI ALL DRIED UP DOUJOU-JI DOUJOU-JI A SPIRAL SWIRLS ABOVE A SPIRAL SWIRLS BELOW BEANEATH THE POND OF THE DRAGONFLY GO DOWN THE STAIRS AND COMPLETE THE CYCLE ALL DRIED UP DOUJOU-JI DOUJOU-JI SPIRAL: BEAUTIFUL YOUR SO BEAUTIFUL The spirit of the spiral creates brighter spirals around Kirie’s body as she sleeps then turns them into spinning flowers. As Kirie starts to dream she can smell something sweet as she thinks she is laying in a flower field with the sun in her face and makes heavenly smile SPIRAL: SLEEP MY BEAUTIFUL KIRIE The view starts to move away as Kirie's song echoes within it from Kirie’s floating body to the dark tomb outside the pod to the dark underground stairway going up to outside the spiral made town as the view rises upwards into the heavens where you can only see a piece of land in Japan shaped like a spiral. The spiral shaped town slowly fades away into a spiral shaped flower from the mountain side and there sitting next to it is Kirie’s spirt Kirie's spirit after many years within the spiral watches over her peaceful hometown and wonders like a ghost as she nears the end of telling the story of her fate and the fate of the town. She sits watching on the hillside with her curly long hair dancing in the windy breeze remembering everyone in her past life until the embodiment of the spirals curse as a person with a familiar face starts walking into town. Kirie looks at her face and is shocked when the curse looks back at her with a spiral in her face smiles and Kirie knows that the horror will start all over again for the next generation of this town. As the spirit walks away from her Kirie watches as her hair starts dancing up and down like it has a reaction of its own of what's to come then the screen closes to her face as she looks at you (the viewer) and she speaks (KIRIE)- NOW YOU KNOW MY STORY AND THE TRUTH OF OUR FATE, SO COME JOIN US IN THE UZUMAKI She looks at you with a sad smile and look as her spiraling hair slowly covers the screen, her left eye becoming the center of the spiral as it takes over the screen making you see nothing but the spiral as you go mad (crazy)

I’ve decided to go ahead and write out the rewrite of Kirie’s fate within the curse of the spiral Whether you like it or not I DON’T CARE It’s something I need to express and share since I’ll be adding Uzumaki in my horror collection All the events leading to the near end within the underground tomb of the spiral stay the same till the point of Kirie and Shuichi going down the underground stairs then falling into the tomb What I would change is at this point: After Kirie lightly falls into the tomb and seeing all the town's residents plus her parent's stone-dead twisted faces she hears Shuichi’s voice cry out for help. As she approaches him, he is in pain and broken from the long deep fall, trying to speak his last dying words for Kirie to escape with her life Kirie begs him not to die without her knowing she’ll be all alone, but Shuichi’s tired eyes give in to death then his body starts to twist around then harden along with the others in the ground of the tomb. Kirie watches as she cries out in a painful scream that echoes within the tomb seeing only spirals and dead faces around her, she cries out: KIRIE: WHY, WHY, WHY WON’T YOU TAKE ME, JUST KILL ME NOW, WHY MUST I WATCH ALL THIS AND STILL BE ALIVE, WHY WON’T YOU KILL ME NOW Kirie drops to her knees crying in front of the tombs center till she hears a dark voice echo within the tomb saying her name SPIRAL: KIRIE, KIRIE, KIRIE Kirie looks around to see where its coming from as she looks up at the largest spiral pod within the tomb and could hear the voice coming from it, she look’s at it unable to blink and say a word till the spiral extends out a long tentacle then shapes it in a spiral like the palm of a hand in front of Kirie. Kirie realizing she has no other choice crawls on her knees into its center, the spiral raises with her in hand in front of the pod and says: SPIRAL: KIRIE Expecting the pod to open and consume her like the mouth of a monster Kirie close’s her eyes ready for the worst to happen she prepares to embrace death till she hears a light humming then she slowly opens her eyes to see what it is then she is surprised to see a bright spiral as bright as the sun spinning inside the pod. KIRIE: WHO ARE YOU SPIRAL: KIRIE WHY DID YOU REJECT MY GIFT KIRIE: WHAT GIFT? SPIRAL: WHAT I DID FOR YOUR HAIR KIRIE: YOU DID THAT SPIRAL: I MADE YOU THE FAIREST WOMAN IN MY LAND AND YOU TRIED TO CUT OFF YOUR BEAUTIFUL HAIR, I GAVE YOU OUT OF LOVE AND YOU REJECTED ME The spiral growing angry at her Kirie starts to shake realizing that everything was her fault for what happened to the town and her loved ones she pleads forgiveness to the spiral. KIRIE: I’M SORRY, I’M SO SORRY She then looks down and around at all the dead faces of the town folk and starts to cry feeling guilty for what she did and as her tears run down her face the tear drops are sucked in by the spiral. KIRIE: PLEASE FORGIVE ME, PLEASE I BEG OF YOU SPIRAL: KIRIE I AM OPEN TO FORGIVE YOU AND ONLY YOU, I CANNOT ALLOW YOU TO LEAVE FOR YOUR FATE HAS BEEN CHOSEN TO STAY HERE WITH ME Kirie hangs her head down realizing she has no choice but to accept KIRIE: VERY WELL, I WILL STAY HERE WITH YOU FOR ETERNITY BUT PLEASE GRANT ME A REQUEST SPIRAL: WHAT DO YOU WISH KIRIE: MY LITTLE BROTHER MITSUO, HE WAS TURNED INTO A SNAIL AND IS STILL ALIVE OUTSIDE, PLEASE CHANGE HIM BACK AND LET HIM LEAVE ALIVE AND HUMAN, NEVER TO RETURN HERE AGAIN The spiral pauses to grant her request KIRIE: GRANT MY REQUEST AND I WILL SERVE AND OBEY YOU FOR ETERNITY SPIRAL: MORE THEN THAT YOU WILL SHARE YOUR LOVE TO ME AND NEVER STOP SMILING FOR ME KIRIE: VERY WELL Kirie accepts the deal with a full heart and as she closes her eyes with a smile her hair starts to grow then spiraled in curls. Kirie sees her hair start to dance up and down and rubs a spiral of her hair on her face like it’s the softest beautiful feeling she ever felt and laughs a happy laugh. SPIRAL: BEAUTIFUL YOUR SO BEAUTIFUL KIRIE Kirie looks at the spiral with a happy smile SPIRAL: COME Kirie crawls inside the pod gazing at its bright light as the pod slowly closes behind her The tomb starts to shake as the stairway starts to twist around, closing the entrance forever and in a flashing rush through the town entrance tunnel Chie the reporter flies out of the dark tunnel. As she awakens her head starts pounding like a hangover and looks around confused until she starts to remember everything that happened, when Chie turns around looking into the tunnel Kirie is there standing in the dark entrance smiling. CHIE: KIRIE WHAT HAPPENED? KIRIE: THE CURSE IS OVER FOR NOW AND THE SPIRALS SPIRIT IS SATISFIED CHIE: COME WITH ME AND WE’LL TELL THE WORLD WHAT HAPPENED Chie tries to grab Kirie’s hand but can’t because she’s talking to Kirie’s spirit, she is shocked realizing she’s dead and almost starts to cry but Kirie stops her and says: KIRIE: I’M SORRY BUT I CAN NEVER LEAVE All of the sudden something large falls from the mountain side of the tunnel and lands next to them, it’s a human snail shell and as it starts to crack like an egg Chie is frightened of what she’ll see until it breaks apart and shows a naked boy from inside. The boy is Kirie’s younger brother Mitsuo turned back and unconscious, Chie wraps him in blanket and picks him up then she looks at Kirie in the tunnel, with happy tears in her eyes she asks Chie to get her little brother far away from their cursed hometown and never to return KIRIE: YOU MUST TELL ANYONE IN TOKYO THAT NO ONE CAN EVER ENTER THIS TOWN FOR AT LEAST ONE YEAR OR THEY WILL BE LOST WITHIN THE SPIRAL’S CRUSE CHIE: I WILL AND I’LL TAKE GOOD CARE OF HIM LIKE MY OWN SON KIRIE: PLEASE CHIE DON’T EVER TELL HIM OF THIS PLACE AND NEVER LET HIM OR HIS FAMILY COME HERE, IF YOU CAN KEEP THAT PROMISE TO ME, I WILL NEVER BE SAD Chie nods her head swearing to keep her word and as she starts to walk away, she tries to thank Kirie one last time, but she disappears into the tunnel's darkness.
I feel like the people talking about the drop in quality and pacing are the ones who weren’t following the absolute nightmare it was taking the team to work on getting this out. The production was pretty much cursed from the start since it original announcement.
I still have spare hope that they will re-work and fix the animation quality after they've just finished airing the series yesterday and re-release it like what many anime productions usually do when they wanna sell it as a Blu Ray edition. The first episode was too good to left another 3 episodes like that 😭
Literally same I still like the story and it has a unique style that draws me in regardless and seems actually a bit disturbing, weird, and interesting!
This episode was made by Fukagu (Same animation studio that made Episode 1).... So I have a question! Why animation in this episode looks a little bit worse than Episode 1? 🤔 (Yeah it looks much better than Ep2 & 3, but I mean Ep1 & 4 was made by same animation studio, that's the reason of my indignation)
can't wait for the next Adult Swim show that has 1-2 episodes of good animation! Which they then market using only those two episodes, deceive viewers, and leave everyone unhappy! It'd be really cool if penny pinching producers who don't care about the artistic outcome didn't have jobs in the ART INDUSTRY FOR CHRISTS SAKES. PLEASE FIRE WHO NEEDS TO BE FIRED
Don't care about the animation's quality, should be watched from a distance, anyway. It got darker and darker as it progressed, but the darkest of it all was the fact it's trying to tell us something about our current society.
idk how people can dismiss the entire production of the show. voice acting is great, backgrouds are phenomenal at times and clearly had lots of effort put into them. if you notice they also tried to rotoscope one scene in the last episode. all around there was just a lot of miscommunication between directors and animators because of last-minute executive decisions but as you said it isn’t their fault.
People can easily just get dissapointed over something so simple I mean, i also mind the animation, its not great But its also NOT BAD The rest other than the animation is PHENOMENAL

Yall out there screaming and spamming "EPISODES 2-4 IS BAD" and stuffs. Junji Ito out here calling the anime good and say that they recap the manga in 4 episodes was spectacular. *How ironic*
I don't exactly hate how the animation got worse. My biggest issue with everything after EP 1 was the pacing of everything. I can overlook shotty animation as long as the story is good. There are to many moments in this where the scene just cuts to something else right when the emotional payoff of is about to cash in and that throws me off. Also when the whole thing was done, i just asked myself, "That's it? That was all they had to offer?"
Why did I hope from the beginning for this animation to be worked on seriously? Look now, my years that were initially filled with waiting have become full of disappointment. I will never hope much for future projects
heyyy, I haven't finished ep 3 but... after the horrors of episode 2, this kinda doesn't look *that* bad. (let me have some hope for a momento please, even if I come back dissapointed...)

Episode 2 was so atrocious and laughably bad, it didn't even meet the minimum requirements for an anime episode to look "decent". I've literally seen fan projects with way better animation. 2.9/10
Episode 3 was a slight improvement over episode 2, but the pacing of the source material was the worst from all the other episodes. It had decent moments. 3.5/10
Episode 4, while not as spectacular as episode 1, was clearly made by the same animators as ep1, with the exception of a few 1-2-second clips that looked stiff and ugly, and because of that, it was fantastic. They nailed the ending 9/10.
Overall,
6.9/10

Maybe the real spiral was the one we all experienced together. Like a downward spiral, our hopes for this anime spiraling out with each episode.
Still better than the junji ito collection I'm good with 3/4 of the episodes being alright.
Visuals ain’t that clean
The real horror was the budget cuts to what could have been a masterpiece brought to the screen
We all held out hope they were saving the good animation from Episode 1 for the last episode. Much like Shuichi, I should've just gotten out when I could instead of hanging out to the end for no real reason.

I loved it. Great show especially with how long we had to wait
we had to wait 5 years for a series of 4 episodes where 1 of these episodes is great and the other 3 are mediocre
My husband and I love it! 🤗
So I have to ask; Was the plan to ALWAYS make this series into just 4 episodes or did the massive budget cut force the creative team to B try and shove EVERYTHING into 4 episodes?
I’m still glad we got what we got but I would’ve made this series AT LEAST 6 episodes
Iirc the original announcement said 4 episodes, so it most likely was always planned to be 4 episodes long
i don't understand why everyone is complaining about animation, this looks super cool!
In some places it’s fine but in others it’s REALLY bad. It depends on the person watching. It feels like the new ppl tried hard on this last episode
People set the bar too high that's why
1:00 i beg to differ but it looks awesome but apparently adult swim producer made this project rushed, that's why you can see the kid having 4 ears which reveals it's a copy and paste animation, and i was prepared for anime halloween but yeah i rather watch Chainsaw man, elfen lied, another, and play corpse party than this.
Sleazy producers, those animators are talented enough to have much time on the project basically Development hell
If the whole show looked like episode 4, people wouldn't say anything. But episode 1 has set such a high standard for the show's animation and overall visual quality that you can't help but imagine what each shot would look like if it was made by the same people who made episode 1. Also, episode 2 pretty much broke a record on how bad animation can look.
this show had such wild dips in quality it can be legally classified a rollercoaster
This was my first "Horror" Anime and it pretty much delivered very well. I didn't know about this back then but it seems like something worth the wait. I just wish that it had more episodes but still. Very good Anime, 10/10 ⭐

I am sorry but I am disappointed ☹️
It's finally it, the last episode after the disappointments of the anime series, I've been a Junji ito fan since 2023 that I've watched the Netflix original anime series for the first time "Junji ito Maniac", first The Mysterious of the tunnel, second is the hanging balloon, third is the ice cream bus, and Tomie. But now... Uzumaki is one of my favorite Junji Ito's horror manga that he ever made.
Thank you Junji ito, and the Teams that they worked so hard after 4 years of delays. Thank you for everything🌀
this is a terrible episode just like the second and third one. what a shame they could only produce one good episode (the first one) in 5 years
@@nya55155they didn't had 5 years to produce, the anime took 5 years to be produced, it's different, the production was delayed several times during the process, funds were cutted and the direction of the production was unorganized as hell, imagine an environment like that, I think adult swim had commitment in making the anime but after seeing all the work and money spent to make the first episode, they decided to choose either to keep the anime with a poor animation (direction as well) or to discontinue the anime production. Maybe would have been better if it wasn't taken further, once an anime is done, it's very unlikely that we're going to receive another anime of uzumaki. When a manga get an anime, it can be a good thing, or a disgrace, because if it's terribly done, we ain't getting another.

Goodbye, Uzumaki.
SPIRAL: KIRIE
KIRIE: YES
SPIRAL: ARE YOU PLEASED
KIRIE: YES, THANK YOU, THANK YOU VERY MUCH FROM MY HEART
SPIRAL: KIRIE PLEASE, SING ME A SONG, SING SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL
KIRIE: I KNOW JUST WHAT TO SING
Kirie closes her eyes and sings
KIRIE:
DOUJOU-JI DOUJOU-JI
ALL DRIED UP
DOUJOU-JI DOUJOU-JI
A SPIRAL SWIRLS ABOVE
A SPIRAL SWIRLS BELOW
BEANEATH THE POND OF THE DRAGONFLY
GO DOWN THE STAIRS AND COMPLETE THE CYCLE
ALL DRIED UP
DOUJOU-JI DOUJOU-JI
SPIRAL: BEAUTIFUL YOUR SO BEAUTIFUL
The spirit of the spiral creates brighter spirals around Kirie’s body as she sleeps then turns them into spinning flowers.
As Kirie starts to dream she can smell something sweet as she thinks she is laying in a flower field with the sun in her face and makes heavenly smile
SPIRAL: SLEEP MY BEAUTIFUL KIRIE
The view starts to move away as Kirie's song echoes within it from Kirie’s floating body to the dark tomb outside the pod to the dark underground stairway going up to outside the spiral made town as the view rises upwards into the heavens where you can only see a piece of land in Japan shaped like a spiral.
The spiral shaped town slowly fades away into a spiral shaped flower from the mountain side and there sitting next to it is Kirie’s spirt
Kirie's spirit after many years within the spiral watches over her peaceful hometown and wonders like a ghost as she nears the end of telling the story of her fate and the fate of the town.
As the spirit walks away from her Kirie watches as her hair starts dancing up and down like it has a reaction of its own of what's to come then the screen closes to her face as she looks at you (the viewer) and she speaks
(KIRIE)- NOW YOU KNOW MY STORY AND THE TRUTH OF OUR FATE, SO COME JOIN US IN THE UZUMAKI
She looks at you with a sad smile and look as her spiraling hair slowly covers the screen, her left eye becoming the center of the spiral as it takes over the screen making you see nothing but the spiral as you go mad (crazy)

*fondly remembers episode 1 of this shitshow*
I’ve decided to go ahead and write out the rewrite of Kirie’s fate within the curse of the spiral
Whether you like it or not I DON’T CARE
It’s something I need to express and share since I’ll be adding Uzumaki in my horror collection
All the events leading to the near end within the underground tomb of the spiral stay the same till the point of Kirie and Shuichi going down the underground stairs then falling into the tomb What I would change is at this point:
After Kirie lightly falls into the tomb and seeing all the town's residents plus her parent's stone-dead twisted faces she hears Shuichi’s voice cry out for help.
Kirie watches as she cries out in a painful scream that echoes within the tomb seeing only spirals and dead faces around her, she cries out:
KIRIE: WHY, WHY, WHY WON’T YOU TAKE ME, JUST KILL ME NOW, WHY MUST I WATCH ALL THIS AND STILL BE ALIVE, WHY WON’T YOU KILL ME NOW
Kirie drops to her knees crying in front of the tombs center till she hears a dark voice echo within the tomb saying her name
SPIRAL: KIRIE, KIRIE, KIRIE
Kirie looks around to see where its coming from as she looks up at the largest spiral pod within the tomb and could hear the voice coming from it, she look’s at it unable to blink and say a word till the spiral extends out a long tentacle then shapes it in a spiral like the palm of a hand in front of Kirie.
Kirie realizing she has no other choice crawls on her knees into its center, the spiral raises with her in hand in front of the pod and says:
SPIRAL: KIRIE
Expecting the pod to open and consume her like the mouth of a monster Kirie close’s her eyes ready for the worst to happen she prepares to embrace death till she hears a light humming then she slowly opens her eyes to see what it is then she is surprised to see a bright spiral as bright as the sun spinning inside the pod.
KIRIE: WHO ARE YOU
SPIRAL: KIRIE WHY DID YOU REJECT MY GIFT
KIRIE: WHAT GIFT?
SPIRAL: WHAT I DID FOR YOUR HAIR
KIRIE: YOU DID THAT
SPIRAL: I MADE YOU THE FAIREST WOMAN IN MY LAND AND YOU TRIED TO CUT OFF YOUR BEAUTIFUL HAIR, I GAVE YOU OUT OF LOVE AND YOU REJECTED ME
The spiral growing angry at her Kirie starts to shake realizing that everything was her fault for what happened to the town and her loved ones she pleads forgiveness to the spiral.
KIRIE: I’M SORRY, I’M SO SORRY
She then looks down and around at all the dead faces of the town folk and starts to cry feeling guilty for what she did and as her tears run down her face the tear drops are sucked in by the spiral.
KIRIE: PLEASE FORGIVE ME, PLEASE I BEG OF YOU
SPIRAL: KIRIE I AM OPEN TO FORGIVE YOU AND ONLY YOU, I CANNOT ALLOW YOU TO LEAVE FOR YOUR FATE HAS BEEN CHOSEN TO STAY HERE WITH ME
Kirie hangs her head down realizing she has no choice but to accept
KIRIE: VERY WELL, I WILL STAY HERE WITH YOU FOR ETERNITY BUT PLEASE GRANT ME A REQUEST
SPIRAL: WHAT DO YOU WISH
KIRIE: MY LITTLE BROTHER MITSUO, HE WAS TURNED INTO A SNAIL AND IS STILL ALIVE OUTSIDE, PLEASE CHANGE HIM BACK AND LET HIM LEAVE ALIVE AND HUMAN, NEVER TO RETURN HERE AGAIN
The spiral pauses to grant her request
KIRIE: GRANT MY REQUEST AND I WILL SERVE AND OBEY YOU FOR ETERNITY
SPIRAL: MORE THEN THAT YOU WILL SHARE YOUR LOVE TO ME AND NEVER STOP SMILING FOR ME
KIRIE: VERY WELL
Kirie accepts the deal with a full heart and as she closes her eyes with a smile her hair starts to grow then spiraled in curls. Kirie sees her hair start to dance up and down and rubs a spiral of her hair on her face like it’s the softest beautiful feeling she ever felt and laughs a happy laugh.
SPIRAL: BEAUTIFUL YOUR SO BEAUTIFUL KIRIE
Kirie looks at the spiral with a happy smile
SPIRAL: COME
Kirie crawls inside the pod gazing at its bright light as the pod slowly closes behind her
The tomb starts to shake as the stairway starts to twist around, closing the entrance forever and in a flashing rush through the town entrance tunnel Chie the reporter flies out of the dark tunnel.
As she awakens her head starts pounding like a hangover and looks around confused until she starts to remember everything that happened, when Chie turns around looking into the tunnel Kirie is there standing in the dark entrance smiling.
CHIE: KIRIE WHAT HAPPENED?
KIRIE: THE CURSE IS OVER FOR NOW AND THE SPIRALS SPIRIT IS SATISFIED
CHIE: COME WITH ME AND WE’LL TELL THE WORLD WHAT HAPPENED
Chie tries to grab Kirie’s hand but can’t because she’s talking to Kirie’s spirit, she is shocked realizing she’s dead and almost starts to cry but Kirie stops her and says:
KIRIE: I’M SORRY BUT I CAN NEVER LEAVE
All of the sudden something large falls from the mountain side of the tunnel and lands next to them, it’s a human snail shell and as it starts to crack like an egg Chie is frightened of what she’ll see until it breaks apart and shows a naked boy from inside.
The boy is Kirie’s younger brother Mitsuo turned back and unconscious, Chie wraps him in blanket and picks him up then she looks at Kirie in the tunnel, with happy tears in her eyes she asks Chie to get her little brother far away from their cursed hometown and never to return
KIRIE: YOU MUST TELL ANYONE IN TOKYO THAT NO ONE CAN EVER ENTER THIS TOWN FOR AT LEAST ONE YEAR OR THEY WILL BE LOST WITHIN THE SPIRAL’S CRUSE
CHIE: I WILL AND I’LL TAKE GOOD CARE OF HIM LIKE MY OWN SON
KIRIE: PLEASE CHIE DON’T EVER TELL HIM OF THIS PLACE AND NEVER LET HIM OR HIS FAMILY COME HERE, IF YOU CAN KEEP THAT PROMISE TO ME, I WILL NEVER BE SAD
Chie nods her head swearing to keep her word and as she starts to walk away, she tries to thank Kirie one last time, but she disappears into the tunnel's darkness.
I'm not even mad, just disappointed. I have been waiting on this for a long time and this is what I get?

I don't exactly hate how the animation got worse. My biggest issue with everything after EP 1 was the pacing of everything. I can overlook shotty animation as long as the story is good. There are to many moments in this where the scene just cuts to something else right when the emotional payoff of is about to cash in and that throws me off.
