For many years, I have wished to provide what is to me the quintessential French dining experience, to uproot the classic French Bistro and transplant it. A little taste of Paris, if you like, in the heart of Melbourne. The way a classic French Bistro can provide all the elegance of fine dining, and at the same time, create such a relaxed atmosphere. That is, to me, what classic French dining is all about, and something only the French have truly mastered; so elegant, yet so easy. That's what we have created here at Bistro Guillaume, a bistro inspired by France's most popular neighborhood bistros.
Bistro Guillaume is a premium dining experience with traditional French fare. We feature an extensive outdoor terrace, a hallmark of all the world's best bistros, and a private function room and welcoming dining area. You come inside, it's cozy and you are warmly welcomed. A little champagne or cocktail at the bar, you soak up the atmosphere. You sit down, the richness of French Oak timber, a whimsical French green bar complete with Bistro Guillaume's French petticoat lights.
We want Bistro Guillaume to be just the sort of place you can eat on a regular basis. It's perfect for a simple meal or a more elaborate celebration. From noon until 8, you can pop in on your own for a satisfying salad, or come late at night for a bowl of delicious French onion soup.
I want guests to feel relaxed and welcome and know that they have plenty of options to choose from. We have made the wine list short so there is more time to enjoy the atmosphere, food and company. The list may be tight, but it features enough selection to hopefully please everyone.
The menu provides French Bistro classics such as duck confit and simple steak dishes expertly prepared as well as a wide range of main course side salads, making it a must try for the health conscious diner. You will also find French favorites such as boilies base, duck piemonte, Berkshire pork belly served with lentils and tarragon vinaigrette and creme brulee.
