All New NISSAN ARIYA 2024 - visual REVIEW, TRUNK size, exterior & interior INFOTAINMENT

After years of trailing competitors with the underwhelming Leaf, Nissan is hoping to make a bigger splash in the electric vehicle segment with the all-new 2024 Ariya. We recently had the chance to get behind the wheel of Nissan's latest EV to see if it has what it takes to compete in the fiercely competitive electric crossover class.
Stylish But Unexciting Design
Right off the bat, the Ariya has a modern and eye-catching design that helps it stand out. The sleek exterior styling is clean and futuristic, with an attractive lighting signature and flush door handles. However, up close the Ariya looks a bit too plain, lacking the visual punch of rivals like the Hyundai Ioniq 5. The same goes for the minimalist interior which looks upscale with nice materials but comes across as a bit too simple and lacking in personality.
Smooth Performance, But Don't Expect Thrills
Power for the Ariya comes from either a single front motor producing 238 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque, or a dual-motor all-wheel drive setup with 389 hp and 442 lb-ft on tap. In our testing, the front-drive model hit 60 mph in a respectable 7.5 seconds, while the e-4orce AWD version proved much quicker at 5.0 seconds flat.
However, outright acceleration isn't everything. While capable enough, the Ariya fails to deliver a truly engaging driving experience. The steering is lifeless, body motions are very well controlled but also contribute to a somewhat disconnected feel, and the brake feel is typical of an EV - grabaetic. We yearned for a bit more verve and excitement behind the wheel.
Solid Range And Usable Interior Space
On the plus side, the Ariya boasts a competitive EPA driving range of up to 304 miles for front-drive models. We saw a real-world highway range of 240 miles in our testing, which is certainly usable if not class-leading. Charging is a bit frustrating though, with a maximum 130 kW DC fast charge rate that's slower than many competitors.
Inside, the Ariya provides a spacious and comfortable cabin for four adults. The mostly buttonless minimalist design looks clean but makes some functions harder to access. Cargo space is generous with the rear seats folded.
The Verdict: A Rational Purchase, Not An Emotional One
With efficient powertrains, practical interior packaging, and a striking design, the 2024 Nissan Ariya ticks most of the boxes consumers look for in an electric crossover. It just lacks that final bit of driving engagement and emotional appeal to earn it top honors. As it sits, the Ariya is a very competent but somewhat milquetoast entry in this rapidly evolving segment. For many EV buyers, that will be perfectly fine. But for others seeking a bit more personality and pizazz, the Ariya may leave them wanting.
