- YH gets groovy backstage at the Pantages Theatre for 'Motown the Musical', which tells the story of Berry Gordy's journey to become a music mogul! We chat with star Allison Semmes, who plays the supreme Diana Ross, who gives us some insight on the show itself and shows off all the fabulous frocks she gets to wear on the show! She also shows us some awesome set pieces and talks a little bit about life on the road in a touring theatre company!
Allison Semmes was FANTASTIC as Diana Ross! I got a chance to see her in MOTOWN the MUSICAL. She really channels Miss Ross very well. Great talent with a bright future. Bravo Allison!

Allison Semmes is phenomenal as Dianna Ross! Saw the show last night at DPAC in Durham, NC. The entire cast and show was incredible! I wish I could attend every night they are here! Drove 140 miles to see it and it was so worth it! To SEA PEACE...no offense but you must be blind and deaf...peace!
Carrie Moricle We were there as well and she just lit up the entire theatre. She was absolutely magical. We've seen the show several times over the last few years and it seems as though this time the entire show was cast to absolute perfection.

I followed the Supremes from the beginning to when Diana Ross left.Now the Supremes after Diana were great but it just did not feel the same for me and I just could not feel the same as I did in the beginning.Now seeing these other people imitate of course you remember but it is still not the same. Actually the only ones that sounded almost original were the ones portraying the Jackson Five.Now I say this not to be putting any one down but I was around during their time and I would go and see most of these stars when they came to DC. So what I am trying to say is that I saw the true magic of Motown.
No offense, but I honestly don't think she acts or sings anything like DIANA ROSS. She's a pretty woman and sings nice but nothing near the grace of Miss ROSS. Sorry

I just saw this show this past Friday (6/10/16) and it was AMAZING! Allison Semmes, (who was sweet enough to sign my program and take some snaps w/ me!), was FABULOUS as Diana Ross. Her natural speaking voice is NOT the voice she uses to be Diana Ross. She literally sounds like Diana, it's just crazy! Excellent casting, wonderful show, and she's very gracious! WTG, Allison!
