McDavid has always been big in game 7s (and usually is so good the series doesn't get to a game 7) so you can't really knock him but he did have a tough games 1-3 of the Final last year and didn't score in game 7. If we are talking about the greatest of the greats and comparing them I do believe a championship can elevate you above another player with similar great stats. Not to discredit McDavid. I believe he deserved the Conn Smythe hands down last season. I'm not really sure how exactly I feel. Perhaps we should save the debate on where McDavid rests in the GOAT debate after his fantastic career is over. He's still going to achieve a lot.
