Another great video Richard, you have cleared a couple of things regarding the different types of cavalry in combat and their outcomes. Thanks again for doing these videos mate, we are getting a better understanding of your design thoughts of the game. Cheers, Lee & Melanie 👍😁
BattleBunkerBlog Gaming Group thanks to both of you. I try to add in some bits on design thought where I think it will help. The next one should be more enlightening still, then I think I’m going to move on to film some very small actions to work through the mechanisms for real.
Thanks for your videos! If a mob of barbarians have a group that draws their arc of engagement over an enemy flank then a group of fanatics can use this to ambush against the enemie's flank - assuming distances allow for it? Any group in the mob would work like an ambush point for these fanatics, right?
Trevor Hoffman the attacker must start in the targets flank or rear zone AND the target must be in the attacker’s arc of engagement. Yes, any group within the mob is fine.
If a barbarian mob loses combat by more than 1 kill but has fervour, does that mean they dont withdraw as they have no excess shock? Great videos by the way, these really help clarify some of the more intricate bits we got stuck on.
Another hreat video. Question about skirmishers...they can engage in close combat if they initiate it, right? I've done that when it was to thier advantage like hitting a broke unit, ambushes on flank or rear, or even running down other weak units. Thanks again.
@@davidhunter5260 David is correct. Skirmishers will only fight in close combat if they are caught evading. Warriors with Flexible Drill who are skirmishing can initiate close combat but do not get the advantage of being Drilled in Open Order
If a group is activated in combat (i.e. their leader's card is drawn), can the leader first spend his initiative points and then proceed with combat or you must first resolve the 2 rounds of combat (or 1)? Also if mounted warriors go after a withdrawing enemy can they play a 3rd round of combat or is the persuit only the case after 1 round?
If a unit armed only with Javelins is fighting in close combat (Skirmishers evading and being catch, or Skirmish Cavalry charging into close combat) do they have any dice penalty for having weapons not used for hand to hand combat. For example the Numidian Cavalry is listed with only Javelins as weapons but hey can charge into close combat. Do they fight as having mixed weapons? or do they have dice penalty for just using the javelins into close combat.

Best one yet ,I like this format with the examples

So far as I can see, Foot Skirmishers can only initiate combat if they have Flexible Drill

@@toofatlardies Awesome...thank you both for clarification.

They fight according to their troop classification- skirmishers. There is no penalty for that.
If a unit has to withdraw by losing the fight and also has more shock than models, does it then make two withdraw moves, one for each instance?
Nope just the worst. So withdraw 1” (warriors - different for others) per point of shock rather than 1” per point of excess shock.
Very helpful again.
I keep tying to imagine Phil Barker doing something similar! 😎
Lol!
Jeremy Sutcliffe I’m sure he’d be more erudite than me.
More erudite perhaps but, comparing 2FL prose and WRG prose, not more comprehensible. 😎😎
If enemy withdraw after first round of combat can I play a signa card to throw javelins as they move away?
TheSlarge45 Yes. Sure. Why not kick a man when he’s down?
