It's a wonderful piece, and one of my favourite pieces to play. I recorded it back in 1996 (!) www.joshlayne.c...
This is from a concert on May 22, 2014 in Rio de Janeiro during the 9th edition of the Rio Harp Festival www.rioharpfest...
Hope you enjoy! :)
Josh
Amazingly it happens with many pieces I hear when they are arranged for harp they all of sudden acquire their own indipendent beauty, sometimes it is impossible to think they can exist played in any other way. This magic spell last till the strings are played, when the music stops it is like to awake from a daydream. I so regret to have discovered this incredible instrument so late in my life.
You know, the more often I listen to this, the more I like it better than the orchestra version. After all, it's named for a river, and it has a nice flowing "watery" sound on a harp. Something about the instrument works well for evoking flowing water.
Janis Cortese Hehe, I prefer this, too... :)
One of my favorite pieces ever
Indeed!
GLORIOUS!!!
This is gorgeous; I can see why it is one of your favourite pieces to play! Your hands flow on the strings like a river. Beautifully played!
I've listened this video so many times that all the melody entered my head

We see your hand dancing on the strings, but I imagine that the feet must be dancing also, with pedal changes...

Holy crickets, that's really awesome ...
Thanks Janis!
Wow, fantastic job. How were you able to remember the notes? I can't remember one page of music. Very impressive.
Hatikva. Wow. Fantastic!
oh, i love you
:)
***sniff*** I miss my harps
wish it had a better sound quality
This play is so great. In comparison, Xavier de Maistre played it gentler, Valérie Milot played it stable and musical, you played it fluidic and water-like (you know it is difficult to use text to describe musical style).
excuse my lack of context, but was it your first Rio Harp Fest?
My second - I also played there in 2013 :)
