I think you’re missing the point…it’s not insulting Lucy, or about making white characters black, rather it’s parodying peoples perceptions of the show
If you asked most people at the time about Lucy, they’d say recall the tonic episode, or Ethel and Lucy in the chocolate factory…but not much else!
Plus by then the (wrong) stereotype of Lucy was her acting like a spoilt 5 year old and going wahhhhhh! whilst Desi rolled his eyes and said “Llllluuucccyyy” in an exasperated tone
