  • Trendy Overwrap Ruffled Belted With Angrakha Style Baby Frock Cutting and Stitching | DIY Baby Frock
Hi everyone, welcome back to [ Savita DIY ]! Today, I’ll show you how to make an adorable overwrap V-neck belted ruffle baby frock with an angrakha style. This project is perfect for beginners. Let’s dive in!
    [On-screen Text: Materials Needed]
    • Fabric (1.5 meters)
    • Matching thread
    • Scissors
    • Measuring tape
    • Pins
    • Sewing machine
    • Fabric marker
    • Belt (optional: you can make your own)
    Step 1: Cutting the Fabric
First, let’s cut out our fabric pieces. We’ll need:
    • Angrakha Bodice Front (2 pieces): Measure and cut two asymmetric rectangles for the front bodice with an overwrap. For a 1-year-old, you might use 10 inches wide by 12 inches long for one side and 12 inches wide by 12 inches long for the other.
    • Bodice Back (1 piece): One rectangle for the back bodice, same length as the front but slightly wider.
    • Skirt Piece (1 piece): A long rectangle for the skirt, about 24 inches wide by 18 inches long.
    • Ruffles (2 pieces): Long strips of fabric for the ruffles, each about 3 inches wide and 36 inches long.
    • Belt (1 piece): A long strip for the belt, about 2 inches wide and 40 inches long.
    Step 2: Preparing the Bodice
Take the two front bodice pieces and place them right sides together. Sew along the inner edge to create the overwrap V-neck. Press the seam open.
Next, place the back bodice piece right sides together with the front bodice. Sew the shoulder seams and side seams.
    Step 3: Adding the Ruffles
Take the ruffle strips and fold them in half lengthwise. Sew a basting stitch along the raw edge and gently pull the thread to gather the fabric into ruffles.
Pin the ruffles to the bodice, starting from the side seam and going around the V-neck. Sew the ruffles in place.
    Step 4: Attaching the Skirt
Gather the top edge of the skirt piece to match the width of the bodice. Pin the skirt to the bodice, right sides together, and sew along the edge. Make sure to catch the ruffles in the seam.
    Step 5: Angrakha Overwrap
Attach ties or a belt at the side seams where the bodice pieces overlap, creating the traditional angrakha style. This will allow the frock to wrap around and be secured at the sides.
    Step 6: Finishing Touches
Hem the bottom of the skirt by folding the edge up twice and sewing a straight stitch. Attach the belt loops to the side seams of the bodice if you’re using a belt.
    Step 7: Adding the Belt
Finally, thread the belt through the loops and tie it in a bow at the front.
And there you have it! Your trendy overwrap V-neck belted ruffle baby frock with angrakha style is complete. I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and found it easy to follow. Don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more DIY fashion projects. Thanks for watching!
