I’ve seen a lot of concerts in the 80’s. Bon Jovi is hands down my favorite, they have stood the test of time. What I loved about their concerts, Jon interactions with the crowd really keeps you hyped for the whole concert. I seen them 4 times, hard to pick one favorite tour🎤🎼🎸
Wanted Dead or Alive = His fans love him so much they want him any way they can get them. Up or Down…Happy or Sad….Up beat or warn out….Dead or Alive. And the toll it takes on him. The sacrifices, the exhaustion, whatever it takes to give it to them because he might not make it back to do it again. Such simple lyrics with such strong meaning. Excellent song.
I used to be a hugh fan girl and I always say: Richie Sambora (guitar) was my english teacher. There used to be a video called "Access all areas", where the band was accompanied by cameras during their two year world tour. It showed the downfall of these musicians and what being on the road did to them. Pretty good look "behind the curtain".
Oh, boy, when I saw the notification for this, I dropped everything I was doing to click on the video, haha! That is how I've always loved this song, and it is also definitely my favourite from Bon Jovi. It has that western movie feel to it, although it resonates with him feeling lonely on tours even surrounded with so many fans who just want a piece of him..it can be exhausting, we can only imagine the consequences of fame..
This is the song that they wanted to use in the movie “ young Guns” but Jon thought a different song would work better so he went to work and wrote a song just for the movie
Emilio Estevez wanted this song for the soundtrack on the movie "Young Guns II". Jon Bon Jovi wrote another for it. Also, a good one - Jon Bon Jovi "Blaze of Glory". Yeah, this is on par with Bob Seger's "Turn the Page".
Great analysis. Yes, I always thought the lyrics meant that no matter how tired and drained they felt, going from city to city and venue to venue for months and months on end, that they had to pull it together and put on a fresh new energetic concert for the fans. The everyday behind-the-scenes activities of a rock star are not all that glamorous and not all what it's cracked up to be.
Love your channel! Bon Jovi has been my fave since Slippery. Jon and BFF Richie Sambora were the perfect partnership for songwriting and performance. Plus the band is amazing wit Tico Torres on drums and Dave Bryan (who went to Juilliard and has won Toni's as a composer on Broadway). The unplugged stuff is magic, especially Jon and Richie with 2 guitars Dead or Alive or Living on a Prayer. Great lyrics people can relate to with catchy tunes. Love them!!!!
This is one of the best videos I’ve ever seen. The song is great, but the view it gives us of the darker side of being on the road and all the behind the scenes prep it takes for the audience to see them for 1-2 hours is somewhat heartbreaking to see. It takes a toll on them. I appreciate their hard work and beautiful performances.
Gangsta Pimp huh? 😉 I've always liked this video for the reasons you mentioned. (although most of their videos are pretty darn good. Emotional or fun) This one is different. Obviously the song is great too! The guy with the back up vocals and guitar is Richie Sambora. Sadly he left the band around 2013. So many rumors about that split I won't guess the real reason. (He was married to Heather Locklear if you know who she is?) Anyway thanks for doing my song! Glad to see others liked it also!
A throw back to the days when MTV played music videos. Might try “Bad Medicine” too. As for something different, “Gold” by John Stewart. Get the 1979 version with Stevie Nicks singing back-up, the updated version doesn’t have the same sound.
This really is one of their most loved songs. It had widespread appeal and still does. It was something a bit different for them but it still kept to the Bon Jovi sound. Great reaction to a great song!!! Oh and I agree with the other commenter who said you should react to “Bad Medicine”. That’s another great song & video also! 🌻
Oh man, does this take me back!! 🔥🔥 What a great song and performance 🎶💥 Great reaction to this iconic Bon Jovi song. 💕🎙 They were one of the hottest bands on the planet, at one time. What a great song and band!! Great song choice Nanner! Peace J ✌ ☮ 💕
This is Bon Jovi’s song about being on the road for a living. You reacted to Bob Seger’s Turn the Page. Turn the Page is the same idea. I have been living on the road in sales and raising a family for over 40 years. Both of these songs I can relate to.
Great reaction HAP. This song is one of my favorites out of a long line of favorites. I just love BON JOVI. I have several albums of theirs. Great band good music. Thank you HAP. What a good song to start my day out with. Now I am fixing to go watch QUEEN at Wembley the 1986 Saturday night on July 12th concert. Love you HAP. Take care and have a great weekend. Your girl, QUEEN BEE 🐝🐝🐝🐝
I know and love this song, just fantastic. But I hadn't paid attention to the lyrics before, nor had I seen the video. It's a very reflective and honest song to a great tune. A fantastic beat and guitar playing and the chorus kinda sticks in your head🎶😊. Since I'm here on your channel I'm rediscovering a lot of music I already know in a different way because I'm paying more attention to the lyrics and I like to read the background from others. I usually know the melody and chorus and don't understand all the lyrics as English is not my first language. So in a way, this is also a first listen for me😊. Thank you for this opportunity here and the wonderful reaction 🥰🙋🏻♀️. May I ask for a reaction to the group Guns n' Roses "Knockin On Heaven's Door" and "November Rain"?
You asked what the meaning of the song is... you're a smart guy, to me--- it's very easily the fact that concert touring is a lonely life... and how fans adore them, but in the end it's a lonely life in a sea of unfamiliar faces. (Must be great when rockers go home to their friends and family). Bon Jovi... deliciously handsome men. 😊
Your reactions are great to watch, especially when it is good music. This song was in the movie, "Young Guns". Also listen to Bon Jovi's "Blaze of Glory", that too was in "Young Guns".
As I'm sitting here wasting time on UA-cam I thought of something that might (?) interest you. Jon Bon Jovi is a guy who got Prince William to sing karaoke with Taylor Swift and he also did a thing with Harry for the invictus games. Jersey boy has royal connections 🙂 (he also sang at Biden's inauguration)

It’s describing the lonely life of a rock star. The steel horse is just a metaphor for airplanes.
and buses and limos whatever transportation he is taking
Oh snap Jon the one that gave Steve perry the name the voice!!!!
Man...just like it was yesterday. When people say "oh, that was the 80s" I think : So what? .... Forgetting, how old we have become. ☮

I did too. I grabbed my headphones and I couldn’t wait to see his reaction!!!

No one toured harder than BonJovi they were relentless for over 10 years.

Used as the theme song for the TV series "Deadliest Catch" on Discovery Channel.
Great song choice! I sooo love Bon Jovi ❤️ Awesome reaction HAP! 🥰❤️🥰
