I live in the Rocky Mountain region, and you are making me want to come to New York to kayak!! At the very least, I hope that your work will inspire people to get out there and take part themselves. While you might not have the places all to yourself, it'll get more people to care and that could lead to more support for cleaner water and riparian habitat. And that's good for everyone! I know these videos take a lot of work, but I hope you'll keep it up because you do good honest work and clearly are just being yourself.
I paddle on Jamaica Bay every weekend. Nice to see a different perspective. The Osprey you got on camera in Garretson was awesome. You should try putting in at Manhattan Beach and paddle across to Breezy Point There's a sandbar offshore that makes for some exciting moments and fun times.
Thank you for a great video. Born in Brooklyn (Sheepshead Bay) now living in Lake George, NY. I know all these waterways when I was a kid. Also, the Bronx River video was also a great one. Thanks again and be safe.
I have to agree, a refreshing look at the outdoors ! Well produced and narrated. The combination of urban decay with the great outdoors is fascinating to watch! What's amazing is that there Is not a soul around! My son had to spend three years in Brooklyn, and I as back and forth at least three times a year. Had I known about these areas I would have rented a kayak and gone out for sure!

I took the plunge and got the Oru Kayak XT package. Should be here in a week or so. I will using Bridgeport lake in Bridgeport Texas. I of course got life vest. Will get dry suit later at Cabelas. I lived in the Bronx in 60s 70s & end of 80’s before finishing Lehman College and going to Alaska were I meet the wife. We have been in Texas since early 90s. Both RNs. My daughter also interested in Kayaking. Going to get her one too! You have inspired me with your UA-cam channel!
Hey Matt! Great channel and videos! I live in Brooklyn and want to explore the area by kayak. Can you do a video on how to get started in kayak, things you should know, equipment, etc.? Thank you!
I will def consider it. I'm a lot more of an explorer and adventurer than a teacher / instructor. At this moment, I'd say the most important aspects are watching the weather, trip planning, safety equipment (paddle float, bilge pump, PFD, some people carry an extra paddle, whistle, notifying someone of your float plan etc). Just wanted to throw that out there for now. Thank you for watching and commenting.
The horse rendering plants were during the 19th century. They were gone early in the 20th century. In the 20th century. The area was turned into a landfill. The landfill wall was destroyed by storms.
I live in Colorado now but in the sixties , lived on Burnett Street by Marine Park. The water waste was across the street and it was not somewhere we high schoolers were stupid enough to venture near.
love ur vids man no clickbait bullshit, calm vids, calm music, funny moments. Yeah I'm a fan now bro fr this shit is relaxing to put on in the background while i work, and yes I loved your bronx river vid as well
Hey Matt, I am awoman who is blind listening to your vides, I can even hear the glass moving with the water, as te tide is coming in. Love your adventures, I used to do lots of sea kayaking.
@earthfriendly5799 Hello, thank you so much for listening and commenting. Yes, glass bottle beach has so much glass along the shoreline it can be heard in the movement of the water. It's amazing that you noticed. Thank you so much. I appreciate you being here.
My videos, Kayaking in a Winter Wonderland and Solo Camping are both on the Peconic River. Check both of them out. The winter one, I launch at Forge Pond in the snow. The other, I camp at the Peconic River Campground and paddle from there. Really cool!!
I don't know if you have any interest but there is an area on the shore of Francis Lewis Park in Whitestone Queens it is on the North Shore right near the Whitestone Bridge and faces the Bronx maybe Ferry Point Park. It would be cool to see a Kayak trip there I am not saying you should go a across to the Bronx, but you could go East or West, or not too far West maybe, not to close to Atoria Park where the currents or rough, but maybe along the shore going East along the shoreline along Whitestone to FT. Totten and the Throgs Neck Bridge. I think it would be a cool video. Well just a thought. Great videos BTW
This was really entertaining! I've driven on the Belt countless times and often wondered about paddling around there - Definitely putting it on my list! I just found your channel, so I haven't seen any other of your videos, but if you haven't paddled in the Pine Barrens, (Wharton State Forest in NJ) put it on your lsit! I'm assuming your local to the NY/NJ area.
It was really nice paddling out there! Thank you for watching! I appreciate the comment too. I will check out the Pine barrens for sure. Is there a lake or river there? Any camping opportunities there? Def check out my Bronx River video. It's really cool! My other videos are from camping / kayaking on Long Island.
@TwoFeetOutdoors Your other videos are on deck for today! The Bronx River has my attention as well! Wharton State Forest has six or seven campgrounds, three are hike-in, the others are drive-in and many of those sites can accommodate a trailer (no connections). There are MILES 4WD trails to enjoy as well. The Mullica River and Wading river are really fun! A local outfitter has canoe/kayak rentals, so they make sure the river is navigable (the rivers are narrow and it doesn't take much to block them). Check AllTrails - I'm pretty sure the boat launch locations are marked. I grew up in Nassau County and moved to NJ 25+ years ago. I am an avid hiker/camper/kayaker and I ignored the Pine Barrens for YEARS, thinking, meh... it's flat, just a bunch of pine trees... I could not have been more wrong. 100% recommended for kayaking! And hiking! And camping! That Oru you have is pretty wild! Your Uber drivers gotta be a little confused when they pick you up! Uber isn't as readily available in the pine barrens as it is on LI.
Read the comments: Suggest maps of start/stop points and route taken. Local lore and history narration added. Glass Bottle beach is closed but before that, artists would collect the old glass and use it in their art projects. Stuff like that.

@JohnOtoole-hm8cv Thank you so much for watching and commenting. I really appreciate it. I bet you'd enjoy this video I'm linking below. I camp on Mau Mau Island, paddle the area from Marine Park and also get out under the Belt Parkway Bridge. ua-cam.com/video/MAlJEnbzkkg/v-deo.htmlsi=PhGOCYZ1cmLA1Rud

I grew up in gerritson beach. Lived on the water there my whole life. Where the car chasis is is actually gerritson beach Years ago if your car was stolen good chance it was back there we called it the back weeds Mao mao island used to be a garbage dump. Where you launched your kayak is where they filmed We Own The Night with Glad i found your channel. Great footage.look out for Coney Island white fish there all over there. 😆
I'm thinking of going out to Coney Island Creek to explore and check out the yellow submarine.
Another thing, you think I can Stealth Camp on Mao Mao Island?
@@TwoFeetOutdoors absolutely. No one will bother you there. I live in seaford Long Island. If you ever wanna come out. Theres the marshes at hi tide you can paddle through. Also a sweet tunnel thats the size of s football field going to cedar park. Pretyy cool canals. I have 3 kayaks live rgt on water. Your welcome to come by.
Planning on taking a bike ride through there to stop by sometime this summer. And I might try heading up to Concrete Plant park for kayaking with the BX River Alliance if I have time. Thanks for these videos!!!!
Thank you for watching and commenting. You're welcome!

@@TwoFeetOutdoors LOL Matt that's one angry Shark oops I mean swan
Just want to thank you so very much for the trip and the memories of my life growing up in Brooklyn Marine Park & traveling over the marine Park bridge to go to the beach every summer & Mill Creek, where we used to scout when I was just a little girl finding all the horseshoe crabs & the fun on the cyclone that I went on so many times great memories I would like to thank you so much for that. It was exhilarating‼️‼️Love your channel‼️🙋♀️🥰
@@ssnygirl10 WOW!! Thank you so much!!! I really appreciate this comment! Thank you so much for watching. I'm grateful! 😀😊😁
@@TwoFeetOutdoors My pleasure have fun‼️🙋♀️🥰
Flold Bennett field my favorite place in brooklyn go there every weekend love the nature there fish also
It's such a huge area with something for everyone it seems. Lots of people fish there. Especially near where I launched.
@ 36 seconds. That was a party spot back in the day . Total Outlaw Raves from the late 90s to early 00's at Floyd Bennet Field!
Gerritsen beach..is under the bridge...where I live....and love the neighborhood.
Dude I love your channel. I grew up in NY. I left after highschool and never moved back but visit every few years. You are brave getting in some of that water haha
Wow, this is so amazing!!!
Those glass bottles are a vintage find
Some def are! Appreciate you watching and commenting.
Awesome adventure! I’m so glad you ended your day on the Cyclone..and hot dogs! Well-deserved! 😁😎
Thank you! I thought that would be a fun twist! The Cyclone was amazing.
Hey I recognize the area , that’s by Floyd Bennet Field , used to go there when I lived in Brooklyn. 😊 Nice to see it from this perspective.
I appreciate you watching and commenting.
Magnificent Osprey's.
Love the vids (24:22 me and my buddies fishing spot is on the left)
The horse rendering plants were during the 19th century. They were gone early in the 20th century. In the 20th century. The area was turned into a landfill. The landfill wall was destroyed by storms.
Yes, you're right!
Loving this channel 👍
Love those words! Thank you!
Shirley Chisholm State park In Brooklyn is a very nice place to kayak as well😋
I really want to check it out. Thank you.
I live in Colorado now but in the sixties , lived on Burnett Street by Marine Park. The water waste was across the street and it was not somewhere we high schoolers were stupid enough to venture near.
Thank you for watching and commenting.
love ur vids man no clickbait bullshit, calm vids, calm music, funny moments. Yeah I'm a fan now bro fr this shit is relaxing to put on in the background while i work, and yes I loved your bronx river vid as well
Heck yeah! Love this. Thank you.
Looking forward to a Peconic River paddle video.
Thank you for the suggestion. I will look into it. I appreciate you watching and commenting.
The diving bird at 9:00 is a Double crested cormorant.
Thank you!!
@@sundaymorninghikes6275 I was researching the Pine Barrens last night. Thank you!
Read the comments: Suggest maps of start/stop points and route taken. Local lore and history narration added. Glass Bottle beach is closed but before that, artists would collect the old glass and use it in their art projects. Stuff like that.
Thank you for the suggestions. I'm working hard and listening the the audience. Thank for watching.
I just subscribed you’re my kind of explorer. You’ve been to all the places I seek out regularly when I need me time. You can also launch at Canarsie pier and Shirley Chisholm park.
Thank you. Yes, I want to go to both places you mentioned. Thanks for subbing.
I am new to your channel and I've lived in new york my entire life and seeing it from the perspective of the water has made me see there is so much beautiful nature left in this concrete jungle. Thank you so much for these amazing vidoes. On top of that your vidoes are so relaxing and you have a soothing voice. Definitely Gained a new subscriber ❤
What a beautiful day! Thanks for the tour.
So Incredible! Thank you for watching!
Love Watching Your Channel, Im A NYC Kayak Angler i basically Swept Many Launching Spot And amore To Adventuring im Reside In NJ But I love The Long Island Sounds South and North
Thank you! I appreciate you watching and commenting!!
@rncmasterplumber where is your favorite spots to kayak?
Years ago you could fish off of that bridge...I did caught big porgies
I dare you to try out Newtown creek. Lol
I'm thinking of doing the Gowanus Canal
Be extremely careful with either.
FYI, I paddled Newtown Creek this week. It will be my next video.
Enjoy how you video and narrate this. This is the second video I have seen you head to Nathan's Hot Dogs.
Haha, those are the only two that I actually go to Nathan's. Just a funny little theme. 🌭 There's a little Nathan's twist in my Coney Island Creek video. You should check that one out next. Lol. I really appreciate the compliment. Also appreciate you watching and commenting.
You’re exactly right, it’s a Doppler radar tower near the NYPD Aviation Unit.
Cool channel. Im from Brooklyn too!
Thank you so much! I appreciate you watching and commenting.
Hay dude next time your around hit me up that’s my playground at the Marine park bridge. On the right before the bridge is a kayak launch site. I launch there all the time. As a matter of fact I was there just last week in my Lake ORU kayak testing it out. 🤣
Thank you for watching and commenting.
The cyclone is one of only a few wooden roller coasters still around. And now I’m hungry for a Nathan’s dog.
Hahaha. Yes and yes!! Two amazing things. Thank you for watching and commenting.
Nicely done.
Thank you. Thanks for watching!
Great video.. calm waters
Picked a really nice day for it!!
I really enjoy this channel. Do you have a link to your kayak ? It is awesome. Really considering trying it out.
Check out orukayak.com, mine is the Oru Kayak Bay ST model. I also have the Inlet. They have a variety of models and types with comparisons.
@@TwoFeetOutdoors Thank you , look forward to more videos.
Might you one day show us the Oru being put together in real time? :) 🇬🇧
@RealBesty I would consider that for sure. I worry that a lot of viewers would get bored and click off and that's at the beginning of my videos. However, I can see how lots of people would also be interestered in seeing it. For now, here's a video from the Oru website regarding assembly of the kayak. Thank you for watching and commenting. ua-cam.com/video/_tCP7bYWWNk/v-deo.htmlsi=Z5NSxzNUBAxnlf7P
@@TwoFeetOutdoors Thank you!
Jamaica Bay & Floyd Bennett Field are in Queens, but either way this is a fun channel. I am glad I found it.
Floyd Bennett Field is actually in Brooklyn though and Jamaica Bay is part in Brooklyn, part in Queens.
Floyd Bennett Field is off Flatbush Av between the Belt Parkway and the Marine Park. Bridge definitely in Brooklyn
Marine park is more like marine marsh lol, I’ve been knee deep in mud unprepared for it with my eBike… would have much rather explored in a kayak like you!
Yes, Marine Park is very pretty via kayak. I really enjoyed it.
Nice 👍
Try next time to put the map for this trip , thanks 🙏
👍👍👍👍
@tamariscampersfishers4420 Thank you. I appreciate the suggestion. I do get a lot of viewers who tell me that they enjoy pulling up Google maps in order to follow along. Sometimes, I feel like flashing a map on the screen doesn't really help the viewer all that much. It's all a work in progress, and I'm working on improving my videos. Again, I appreciate the suggestion. Thanks!
That water tower in Floydd Bennett’s field isn’t a water tower it’s the weather Doppler radar for all of the area
That's what I said as I got closer to it that I thought it was a radar tower.
