That would make a neat cane topper
I can see what you're implying >:)
@@Azaelris excuse me
A cane with concealed sword for that extra "sting".
Very jurassic park
@@Misikat a hollow sword that can inject poison. ☠️
16 Years ago I was Injured in a train accident.I would love to add this to the top of my cane,I used to get chased and stung by wasps all over the rail yard where the grain cars were stored.Thank you.such beautiful work.
I hope you can get one! Cool idea.
This was what I was going to comment, use it as a cane topper a’la John Hammond in Jurassic Park. Ben, if you pick this comment, give the topper to @Troy b17
Well, I was gonna put it on my Four-runner, but you pretty much got this squared away. It’ll look awesome on your cane. Good luck!
I want you to win!
Hope you win
My father is an entomologist. He worked closely with the Brisbane CSIRO lab to save the Florida Everglades from our Melaluca (paper bark tree) problem. He’s supported me my whole life; more than I can ever hope to repay him for. I’d give it to him to put in his Subaru Outback. Now retired and he’s gotten into nature photography. He and my mother drive it everywhere on photography trips. He would surely love it.
*Wholesome 100*
That's someone that would cherish this masterpiece
Thats great
Give it to this guy.
I vote for you
The little hairs that cover the body of the wasp are so thin that air bubbles stick to them without bursting. The orientation of the hairs draws the air bubble over the abdomen and towards the front of the head in an almost bubble helmet and if the bubble is large enough, bubble suit where a wasp can draw on the oxygen in that air bubble for upwards of five minutes. Chances are that the resin hardened and trapped the air bubble as it was very slowly moving up over the wasp's body. Which is why you can drown a wasp with dish soap but not likely to happen with just pure water because they can just keep latching on to air bubbles.
very interesting, but insects dont breathe through the mouth, thy breath through tiny hole via diffusion
@@benzo5799 I didn't say they drew it in through their mouth. There are tiny holes all over the body called spericales (sp?). They latch onto bubbles and live in it as long as possible. In which case the bubble around the head makes sense since it is one of the last places they would draw air in around.
Interesting mate didn't know that.
I would give it to my boyfriend of almost 5 years for our anniversary since he loves wasps immensely!❤ It's absolutely beautiful!
This looks awesome!
In secondary school, my friend accidentally swallowed a wasp that flew into his tuna sandwich and it stung the roof of his mouth, and its been an inside joke with all our friends ever since. He's got a red 1968 VW Beetle that he restored over the course of a year and a bit and I think it would look awesome inside that.
Embrace the wasp like Batman did with bats :D
"He's got a red 1968 VW Beetle" ... that man embraced the bugs after that day...
My 7 year old granddaughter is a big bug collector, butterflies mostly, but I know she's love this as a part of her collection. It'll be something she could remember both of us through the coming years.
There's a bunch of videos showing casting butterflies into nightlights, paperweights, etc. It's possible to find naturally deceased butterflies in most climates and casting one in resin would be something even a child that age could do. Get some cheap silicone molds and she could make a butterfly orb in no time!
"Oh shit! A wasp !"
*Smacks it out of gear without engaging the clutch*
Tragic
Well, I mean you don't need to engage the clutch to take it out of a gear. So no damage would be done if you were to do that.
you dont need to press the clutch to go out of gear?
@@tilted6368 Nah fam, only into gear, even then, if you properly match your revs, you technically don't need clutch to go into gear either.
@@theeaglegaming2811 Yea most people don't even know this lmao

If I gotten it I’d put it on display in my room then give it a name because I got a feeling that little guy’s spirit must be honored to be a part of your art!!
Aww that is a lovely Idea!! if he could add a bit of a light to it it could be a night light too. Just make the base a bit bigger. I think that is what I would like to see, I would of given it to my son Connor. He's all grown, but when he was a little kid, he loved bees and wasp. Ask me all kinds of questions. Like where is the stinger when he could not see them. I told him "Oh they put them away, they don't need them right now"

Thank you.
The sound of the rain is actually so relaxing.
This is such a cool concept. I dont even know if i'd use it as a shift knob....maybe just a decoration because of how pretty it is
Hood ornament maybe? Lol
As an ecologist, this would be a great conversation piece to have in my office!
How can I compete?!

i honestly love the sound of the rain, it's so relaxing

Exert your dominance so they the wasps will fear you
Become what you fear.... WASP MAAAAAnNNn

The rain in the background mixed with the music actually makes this really relaxing, I like it.
Yup, whomever told you to record your work for UA-cam should also be given an award. These videos are great.
The only car this is suitable for is a Hudson Hornet.
someone get this man a phd in cleverness
@@Flush.103 Son the first time you even heard of a Hudson Hornet was in Disney's Cars. Sit down.
@Steve That's the super bird, from Plymouth. The super bee looks more like a tricked out custom charger
The Dodge Daytona and Plymouth Superbird are surprisingly different cars, but similar obviously :)
And the original Super Bee is a performance trim level of the Dodge Coronet.
I think the word your looking for is… worthy
No lie, the rain sounds were super calming.
'Listen to the rhythm of the falling rain...' Beautiful piece, Ben! Turned out great!
I’m going to study to be an entomologist, study of insects. Wasps are my favorite! I’d probably use it in my dads Jeep Wrangler hes passing down to me when I head off to college in a few months :)
My 23rd birthday just passed on may 4th, and since I was about 15 I've had A 2002 Chevy Cavalier 2.2 OHV base model 5 speed manual.
This car is nothing special to anyone that sees it cause ill be honest its a total rust bucket, but its my rust bucket. Over the course of the next 2-3 years I had no idea what I was getting into. Over heating/cooling issues, no power windows, no ac, no anti lock. this thing was hardcore and I loved it, every second I spent driving this car way faster than I should have been on the windy roads I live on.
Having to pull over on the side of the high way because I forgot to top off the coolant with some tap water that morning before work.
Having to call my best friend who I am no longer in contact with, pick me up so I can buy a thermostat and then changing it on the side of the road.
Having to sit in traffic in the city and sweat profusely while watching my temp gauge go places I didn't think it could.
Having to always have a toolset in the trunk just in case.
Having to learn how to rolling start the car cause the battery died.
Having to learn how to do an engine head replacement, and head gasket change by myself with no prior knowledge.
All of those things were very out of my reach but when I was cornered I choose to over come those obstacles instead of junking the car; like my parents who told me to get the vehicle (ironically), were trying to get me to do.
But then I got REALLY DEPRESSED.
The issues with the car stacked, and frankly I couldn't keep up.
For about 2 years the car sat.
I would start it, if I felt like it. But it ran on three cylinders.
On March 20th of 2020 I started dating a wonderful woman.
With someone that fully supports me (even if she disagrees and says I'm crazy) I started work on the car again, and more importantly myself; I've been fully rebuilding my old work vehicle in a track car, I've done a lot to it, and I've grown a lot during that time too.
Chassis reinforcements, weight reduction, etc. etc.
Even got a second job so I could pump more money into it.
But now I've hit a big bump in the project regarding the engine I'm getting built, I'm talking Individual Throttle bodies, 9000 rpm from a Over head valve like a Nasar engine. All for this dinky little 2.2 4 cylinder engine. that's going to go in a total rust bucket shell.
My girlfriend has convinced me to make the car's appearance better in some way since I cant work on the engine for now. So I got a custom wooden armrest made for it, it even still has the factory cupholders molded on the underside cause 'MERICA. My younger sister said she wanted to help me fix the cracking dash by remolding it and then putting fabric on it. I've been trying to figure out how to get more wooden elements into the cabin cause I really like the wooden armrest, and this shift knob would match the armrest PERFECTLY.
My parents asked me what I wanted for my 23rd birthday, and like I usually say every year, I said nothing.
But after binge watching your vids to catch up on what I've missed, since I've been working so much . . . I know what I want.
If I get this shift knob I would probably cry, because your vids were the one thing I could look forward to during all the struggle.
I've never asked for birthday presents guys but it would really. really. really. really.
I mean really mean a lot to me if I got this shift knob.
This would be the ultimate birthday present, and I would have it for ever to reflect on during my life, I don't ever plan on giving up on this car, my son will drive it. . . and hear the stories about how it all came together.
I want to cement you into that story ben.
My wife wants to put it on the cane I'll inevitably need in the future and to show the wasps who they're messing with!
When you said "amber" I was hoping for Jurassic Park amber. You can hardly see the color, but your craftsmanship is second to none.
Man i don’t know why UA-cam suggested this to me but im hooked, id love to learn to do stuff like this
I hate wasps with a fiery, burning passion but this is... strangely comforting.
eeewww, I have a war with these things in my back yard every year. 50 residential homes in this area and I'm always the _lucky_ one. yes, this was very comforting.
i had a wasp nest on the corner of our roof and my dad knocked it off and sprayed the wasps with a powerwasher, it was kinda epic
My GF actually got me some of your art years ago and just happen to pop up. You make great beautiful things keep it up.
Honestly the sound of the rain is quite relaxing.
If nobodys around to hear it does it really make a sound?

@@rusianalf No, I said I was going to COVER 50% of the population IN bees.

That's a nightmare. I hate bees. For some reason, I keep stepping on yellow jacket nests. Now, I'm scared of anything that flies and stings because I've been swarmed by those little bastards so many times.
@@ananthropomorphictalkinggo6641 I feel you man.
hwo do you manage not to expose any of the wasp nest when carving down, looks like only milimeters are left.

it's an illusion. the entire thing got magnified when the resin covered it.
Nothing better than listening to rain fall while watching art be created before your eyes.
You're a brave man for doing this. I could NEVER even consider getting close to a wasp nest or wasp!
easy at night they dont seem to be able to react after dark i have killed lots of red wasps that way
Came for the resin, stayed and thanked for that mellow as fxxk background music. Just what I needed on a sunny Sunday morning at work. And that would look amazing on a walking cane.
I'm so glad I found your videos! This helps with my anxiety so much it's such a good distraction to keep my brain busy. you are so talented thank you so so much for what you do :)
I'm a hobby beekeeper, and I think this would be great to have. Wasps are kinda an enemy, so good to keep them under thumb.
The final outcome is absolutely incredible, wow
Yup, finally the UA-cam algorithm suggested something I actually liked. That is some beautiful work there sir. I would definitely use it in my 93 xj.
you seem like probably the most genuine person on this platform

I just discovered your channel not too long ago, I watch the videos when I’m having a panic attack and they instantly ease my mind. Thank you for these!!
I'd love to put this in my partners car. She just got her degree in biological sciences and loves nature. Good work Ben, keep it up.
Honestly my spouse and I have a very gothic nature-y vibe to our house and I'd use it as a general decoration! I have a ton of butterfly and moth specimens that the wasp would feel right at home with!
That would make a damn fine shift knob for my 1996 F350 4x4. Nice work!
I really like how this one came out. The wood and the comb play off each other well.
I'm OBSESSED with this piece now! I'd give anything to put it in my old Kia Rio I've decked out with sunflowers and bees! This piece is gorgeous
Im 16 years old and I am starting to do a lot of wood crafting and I would use this awesome shifter knob for my 1985 silverado c10 truck. Hope you all have a great day and don't forget to do something nice for someone today.
wow, this is so cool, i would gift it to my brother, who is an bee keeper. I know its not an bee, but i think he would still love it
I'd like to see someone's reaction when they hop in and see a wasp on your gear shift
To be honest i'd love to just have this as some sort of desk piece to stare at all day while working on things, such a cool piece
My dad's 1971 f100. He passed away in 2015. I found the truck in a farmer's field in 2019 and bought it. My dad had sold it a few years before he passed away to take care of my sister. I am restoring the truck how he always wanted to.
