    • @PatriotAstro

      Solar is a lot of fun, relatively quick to process (unless doing animations), and lets me use the telescope during the day! (that's the best part)

    • @antonypage1442

      @@PatriotAstro daytime astro is what im after. just not sure what equipment to buy. a dedicated scope or a quark.

    • @PatriotAstro
      @PatriotAstro  2 роки тому +1

      @@antonypage1442 kind of depends what you have available to you. Refractor with 80mm or less aperture and you just need a quark. Over 80mm and you also need an Energy Rejection Filter (ERF) which can often be something like a simple 2 inch Astronomik L1. Larger apertures start pushing the need for external front mounted ERF which are pricey. If using an SCT, or anything with mirrors internally, you are really out of the Quark HA world and into just white light solar with front mounted film/glass (you can get an ERF that shrinks the aperture in order to do HA but they are ridiculous in cost.) While white light viewing is ok and cheaper, it gets old about 1 session into it (especially during this solar minimum. HA is where it is at. :) So pricing it all out based on what you need to add to your existing can help you decide if dedicated scope makes more sense. Oh, BTW, the other benefit of a quark is potability between multiple scopes.

    • @antonypage1442
      @antonypage1442 2 роки тому +1

      @@PatriotAstrothanks Chad. I do have a 80mm refractor. So I think a quark would be the best way to go. More research needed I think. Thanks for your input. You are amazing. Great vids Chad, really informative and helpful for us NINA fanboys and girls.
    1 request, 1 constructive criticism.
    1. DIY Meridian Flip - Awesome plugin. Ability to set forced guiding calibration, autofocus, slew and center exactly how I want and trust them to work after a flip is a MASSIVE new improvement. Love it.
    2. Please disable the auto gain on your lavaliere mic or audio recording software. Or maybe gain clip your audio in post to keep it at a similar level. Every time you stop talking and start again your voice volume is very high and dips immediately, its super distracting and detracts from the video.
    Please dont take point 2 the wrong way, your content is excellent and valued.
    Clear skies Sir. 🤩

    • @PatriotAstro
      @PatriotAstro  2 роки тому +1

      First off, I'm super hurt... :) Just Kidding, thanks for the 'feedback! Three Points: 1. I need to try this plugin myself. For me, my flips have been flawless, so other than making a video for it, I'm sort of "If it isn't broke, don't fix it". 2. Are you hearing this in older and current new videos? Is it all the time, or just during voiceover? I've been trying to address some of this along the way, but thought I had most of it sorted more recently. I know the older ones, especially the voiceovers, were pretty bad. and 3. I won't take it the wrong way. If you don't want to listen because the quality of the audio is bad, I need to clean it up, or people may be missing the value of the content behind the crappy audio. :) Clear Skies!

    • @Crimitube
      @Crimitube 2 роки тому +1

      @@PatriotAstro Hi, It's certainly when you are talking to the camera using the lavaliere. It may be a 'feature' on the mic that can not be disabled, but that would seem silly. After nearly every pause in your script, the volume jumps right up and then dips again quickly. Like it's trying to up the gain to find your voice when there is nothing but background hum and then drops its quickly when you start speaking to avoid clipping the audio. Good luck solving it. Just me being picky though, I won't stop enjoying your content :)
      Regarding the Auto meridian flip, I have found that my PHD guiding pulses should be inverted after the meridian flip otherwise it tries to counter the drift incorrectly on the dec axis. But selecting the 'reverse dec output after meridian flip' in the PHD settings doesn't actually solve the problem, so I have to wake up at the flip time and re-force guiding calibration manually (annoying). The DIY flip allows you to put 'force calibration' guiding steps into the sequence after the flip, as well as anything else you want to force to happen at that time. Super useful!
      Thanks for the great vids :) Clear skies

    • @PatriotAstro
      @PatriotAstro  2 роки тому +1

      @@Crimitube Makes sense on the DIY flip stuff. I'll take a look myself soon (hopefully). I have another mic here somewhere, I might have to try that soon. I also have the option to record the audio independently and merge it in so that is another option. It may take some time and a few videos but I'll try to sort it out. Thanks for the feedback details!

    I am very interested in Nina. In particular the groundstation plugin and integration with telegram

    • @PatriotAstro
      @PatriotAstro  2 роки тому

      Out of curiosity, what were you hoping to do via Telegram integration? Just the basics, like receiving messages there. Or were you hoping to do something a bit bigger via a Telegram Bot. What I ran into was the fact that Telegram Bots do not react to their own messages or messages from other Telegram Bots. Since the plugin sends via the Bot mechanism, I think we are limited to just receiving Messages and Failure Events. This may be all you are looking for anyway though... :) Let me know.

      @@PatriotAstro In your video where you explained GroundStation you had explained the integration with Pushover well. The same thing, so to receive only alerts or errors I wanted to do it with telegram. Then how to configure telegram or telegram bot and configure Nina also functions.
