Michael, thank you so much! I just bought the HC-V180 used ($50) and although it had a manual, listening to you was so much easier than trying to figure out the text. I am struck with the small size of the unit which makes it quite usable. I've never really been into cameras or camcorders before but I remember how big a camcorder was in the 1980s. I realize there are probably newer options out there with better technology, however this camcorder is what I need to get accustomed to video in general and I couldn't beat the price for a starter. Again, thanks!

Good morning a question, I record a video and pause for example at 20 seconds, I press play again and the recording of a new video starts from the beginning. Is there a number that starts the video from where it stopped at 20 seconds?
No ... its strange! each time you push pause it starts another file. I cant find a solution to this. My previous Sony Handycam use to keep it all as one file/movie. Not this Panasonic. Its a pain.
Hi Michael thanks for the upload, I have the V260 which in principle is the same, I was wondering at x90 does your zoom fade out and become blurry, mine does and was wondering if I'm missing something in the settings , I use to have the V700 and the zoom was amazing right to the end but it broke hence I grabbed the V260 as a quick fix but the zoom is the problem can you advise or help? regards James
Hi James. My zoom does not fade out Ender v90 zoom. it goes blurry if you zoom to quickly but automatically fixes itself after a second or 2. If you zoom all the way in on the 250 or the 500 then it can go blurry. Sorry to hear you're having trouble with yours.
Hello, I've had this camera for almost a year now and just recently it may have been exposed to rain or moisture. And occasionally the camera doesn't turn on for about an hour. Although the lens doesn't fog up. And then I go to turn it on again and it works! Do you how I might be able to fix it or what the problem might be with the camera?
My cam's firmware is V 1.1. Does anyone have anything higher than this? I did some research and found that the company isn't expecting to do an update EVER!
First of all, really detailed and great video ! One of my friends has this camera and he wanted to have a date and time stamp on the video output when recording? Is there anything you know how we can achieve that on this camera?
@@misterbacano3735 That only changes what's on the screen. It does not put the time stamp on the recording. I just got this camera and am looking for the same thing-I want the ability to show the date stamp on the recording.
I made some video recording and some pics taken with date and time .I downloaded in my PC. But when I played the video or pics taken in a pendrive on my TV, it was without date and time. How can we play these recorded files with date and time
Apparently the date stamp does not show on the video once its transferred to the computer. If you play on TV from the camera with HDMI then the date will show but not once you convert to digital storage. This is the same with many cameras.

I had the HV C160 for three years, great budget cam, easy to use, clear as crystal viewing, just a Legendary little budget cam. I however dropped and Totally fuckin' wrecked it the other day..yeah, devastated. I have just done the rounds at; JB's, Harvey Normals, Domayne, Good Guys & Ebay.. and have found the handy cam is on the way out. $500 is the starting price with what's left on their shelves. The reason I'm happy with this review here, is because my old cam didn't have a touch screen and some of the setting up is different, it's the only reason I'm here. Have a quick squiz a my Surfboard review then a quik squiz at a dark environment with my VB review and it will give you an idea of how these sick little cams go. Yes it has a audio jack for external mic. Unfortunately there is no remote for the camera. Yes the SD card is easily removed on the tripod. Hope this helps,
@@michaelwithms Thank you very much, Michael. I'm sure I'll be back to you shortly inquiring about the "cut" and how to use it since it doesn't have a remote, I can cut the beginning and end where I walk to the camera to turn it on and off to make the video.
@@JRandHisGuitar There are editing programs that you can use to cut the video into usable footage, even cutting out the ums and ahs and mistakes you make. I use Sony Vegas which is fantastic but Windows Movie Maker works just fine. See how easy it is at ua-cam.com/video/8vn_i5U3Wx0/v-deo.html
Please, I want a request from you To record a video with the camera and then press pause and then record again⏯️, is this recording saved in one clip🎞️? Same time cameras that run cassette?📹📼 Please reply and detail on this topic

A question on audio - are you able to connect a desk mic to it to record audio that way or any other utside source or is there only a built in mic?

@@michaelwithms have you done so and if yes what did you use?

Sir, how tu make audia nice and load when we record video?
Make sure mic volume is adjusted, search manual to see how.
how do you get the IA icon off the screen?
Hi I just want to know how long should it take for the camcorder to be ready to shoot once I open the camera.
Once your battery is fully charged , it should be ready. Open side screen push power and all is good to go. Make sure you have an SD card installed, preferably hi speed s10
Good morning a question, I record a video and pause for example at 20 seconds, I press play again and the recording of a new video starts from the beginning. Is there a number that starts the video from where it stopped at 20 seconds?
No ... its strange! each time you push pause it starts another file. I cant find a solution to this. I use Sony Vegas but you can use any other editing program, even the free windows movie maker, to join everything together on the computer. My previous Sony Handycam use to keep it all as one file/movie. Not this Panasonic. Its a pain.
Thank you Michael👍
See a repair guy. Any Panasonic camera shop can help you
Is there a night vision?
No night vision on this cam. only low lux. Sony has good night vision
Hi M. Do you get 90x zoom moon clear videos? With the hcv130 i can not with this Hcv180. Please let me know. ID apreciatte. Thanks.
When I return to Australian clear skies I will post a full moon video , Skies here are not clear
I have looked around and cant find a way to show the date time stamp. Sorry! Maybe anyone who reads this might have a way.
@@michaelwithms in the setup menu, DATE/TIME choose D/T
@@misterbacano3735 That only changes what's on the screen. It does not put the time stamp on the recording. I just got this camera and am looking for the same thing-I want the ability to show the date stamp on the recording.
ok thankyou brayy..🙏
I made some video recording and some pics taken with date and time .I downloaded in my PC. But when I played the video or pics taken in a pendrive on my TV, it was without date and time. How can we play these recorded files with date and time
Apparently the date stamp does not show on the video once its transferred to the computer. If you play on TV from the camera with HDMI then the date will show but not once you convert to digital storage. This is the same with many cameras.
Hi!What should be the best AVCHD Video format.
i set mine to 1080/50P
@@michaelwithms, Ive been watching your video before I purchase this Panasonic HC 180 and it help me....Im a new suscriber in your channel..hope you can visit mine as well...looking forward....cheeers
Great video. But how do you get to the media storage to see your recordings? I got there once, cant remember how
i have a program called "Playmemories Home"which does it automatically, as in 'save new files' but once you insert the SD card into the computer navigate to private/avchd/bdmv/stream or search *.mts. I hope this helps, let me know
@@michaelwithms Well, yes, I can see the footage when I put the SD-card in my computer but I wanna be able to see it in the actual camera

hello, can this handycam pause when recording?
No sure what you actually mean. When you press the record button the cam starts then stops. Each time you press it, it does create a new file. So I guess there's not a pause.
@@michaelwithms thanks,that is my mean
Hello and thanks for this tutorial. I am considering this camera to be used mainly for streaming (like a webcam, though through HDMI connection). I just wonder if it can provide "clean HDMI" without transferring display information or icons. I would appreciate if you could kindly share that information if you have tried it for streaming. Thanks again!
Yes. Use the Menu to turn off the data that would otherwise be on the screen, including the time and date.
Hi,
What is the feedback of this camera?
You are using since a year now
I had the HV C160 for three years, great budget cam, easy to use, clear as crystal viewing, just a Legendary little budget cam. This HC V180 is available on line at OFFICEWORKS for $297.00. I ordered mine yesterday & picked it up today from Burleigh Heads O/Works ( so it doesn't HAVE to be on line ). Trust me, you won't get a more affordable and kickass little cam on the market. I do not care for subs or comments, just want to pass on any help I can. Cheers & Rock on 🎥🤙
Hey sir thanks for the info. Is there a way to connect this camera to my chromebook and use it as an external webcam?
I don't think so
