I also find knee on belly good to exert pressure on a very defensive opponent, they lots of the time reach to get rid of my knee, allowing me to attack their arms
Huh. I’m pretty decent at controlling with knee on belly in the GI…but no one ever pointed this detail out. I’m a blue belt with several years’ mat time (not going to be a seven year BB like you) but I’m learning something new pretty much every day since finding your channel.
You can do a spider guard escape. grip a sleeve/wrist, put your same-side knee (or upper) shin inside their wrist as you pull them toward you to break posture. Then roll them off by pressing outward with your knee.
lol I've been doing BJJ for 6 years now and no one ACTUALLY bothered to explain why knee on belly is important. I mean sure it's a position you can strike from but it's super unstable so I usually never bother with it!
Knee on belly while setting up a baseball choke is one of my favorites.. Crush the solar plexus and start sneaking in the choke. Address the choke the knee goes back in, address the knee the choke gets deeper

Your free leg, toe and heel walk your foot closer to his shoulder to balance and attack, I’ve found this helpful recently. Free leg out to stabilize and then heel toe walk and then do the above
I always feel like my knee on belly does nothing to some of the guys I roll with. They'll so easily push my knee off or just ignore it and continue turning to their side to get their guard back. I'm a smallish guy so that doesn't help, wondering what I should do.
put more weight on your knee, try to not have much weight on the leg thats extended and posted out. make sure there is no space between the knee on belly foot and their hip/stomach. location of the knee on their abdomen also matters depending on the situation
Watch Renzo fight Oleg Taktarov, the then Russian Sambo champ. Renzo knocked Oleg out with one punch once he established knee on belly. Bjj is not a joke.

Thanks man! I felt like I teach actual fundamentals and what so few talk about. Happy to provide that to the community 👊

This is awesome. Outside of bjj neon belly can be very practical in mma for ground and pound and transitions

If your in the gi you can also grip his collar and a leg and pull him into your knee more to stop him from moving as much
