Well said Maurice ,Upton park as us Evertonians called it was my first away game. I was 13 me and my mates went by coach. Bunked off school because it left at 1 pm Night game ,we didn't get home until 9 next morning . Wha a fucking hiding my mar gave me ha ha . Always loved watchin the hammers. That close to the pitch ,you could have booted the ball yourself. Great place ,great fans ,great. History. Just like Everton and Villa we have history .unlike them fuckin red Squatters across the park. As Alf would say ,bloody Sue em ,livin in our bloody ground and not a pot to piss in ha ha ha take care Up the Hammers !
Very similar clubs West ham & Everton even goodison park reminds me of the old Boleyn, one of the last old skool grounds left, your mad to let it go as we've seen ⚒ the Black Lion pub here is still there in plaistow & a regular waterhole for the players back then, behind Bobby Moore you can just make out the name of the pub >The Black Lion
Johnny Speight, who wrote the scripts, playing the boring git at the bar. Brilliant. Bobby Moore having a drink in the pub. Brilliant. Pop Robson back heeled goal. Brilliant. Georgie Best missing the ball. Brilliant. Clyde Best. Brilliant. Upton Park brilliant. Classic West Ham team. Brilliant. Alf Garnett. Brilliant. The early Seventies. Fucking horrible.
I remember seeing this on tv when I was a kid, in particular when Alf meets Bobby Moore in the pub toilets. I thought it was the "Till death us do part" film, so I bought the film on dvd, only to find that it wasn't. Also Una Stubbs played his daughter Rita in the series and later on in "In sickness and in health".
It's actually called The Alf Garnett Saga... here's the link ua-cam.com/video/o8y4igrUb8M/v-deo.html some great stuff on that channel you should check it out!
