Ok so, I'm 17 years old, I've always wanted to draw, but it always seemed like one of those things that seem really abstract and descriptivist, and my learning style is very prescriptive, so I figured that there's basically no way for me to learn how to draw. But today I decided to learn how to draw, and I have to say that Brad has done a phenomenal job. I'll definitely be following the second episode, wanting to learn more.
I'm 16 but I was good at drawing 5 years ago but I quit but I decided today to practice drawing again and my drawing is not as good as it was but that made me figure that practicing is wait to make you a good drawer so ... how it's going with you now :) ????
For anyone wondering if these basic lessons are beneficial, they really are. Studied architecture at college. Our drafting class started with these very basic shapes before we were given assignments to draw entire houses. Mastering those fundamentals are absolutely critical. Great job Brad, I’d love to see these go very far. Wishing for the best bro!
They definitely are, everytime I search "how to draw for beginners" every video assume I can draw a sketch, a perfect circle, a straight line, etc. Finally I've found a video for REAL beginners
Lol my dad is a architect but he he isn't really that good at drawing. And it's not really that big of a impact since there is architectural software but whenever he needs a rough sketch he just asks me
As someone in her early 30s who attempted to draw at the (impatient) age of 13 but gave up, I'm so glad I found your channel! This is literally the instruction younger and current me needed but didn't have access to. With just your explanation on how shapes make up everything, I can look back at art pieces I like and visually *see* those shapes. Officially subscribed with notifications turned on. My goal of one day illustrating my own stories is officially in reach!
The change from cartoon to live-action examples is deeply nostalgic. This is so helpful and definitely the most charming drawing resource I've every seen. Thank you.
I'm loving the way you are explaining things here, its actually really easy to understand, its also funny to me how I'm taking this lesson very serious since im legit interested in strengthen my drawing skills in fundamentals!! Thank you for making this accessible for everyone!! 🙏🙏💖
Making this animation isnt easy, and you're doing a great job maybe sometimes you wont get enough appreciation or reward you deserve for this series but let me tell you it is very helpful and please dont stop making these :)
Honestly, I actually like how you've made this series fun with all of those humourous elements! This feels like it's on the same level those other series of art tutorials created by children's book illustrators I like (mainly Sarah McIntyre and Rob Biddulph), while still being different!
I’ve been dying to add real art fundamental learning in my nieces homeschooling but most UA-cam channels are mature or aimed at an adult vocabulary understanding and this is perfect!! I’ve already learned so much from you this last year and a half of my own art Journey Brad and I’m so excited I can now bring my niece along with me. :D keep up the awesome work!
I've taken many beginner art classes. This is the first time anyone has told me to keep me wrist straight any only move my arm. It seems obvious but I'm that kind of clueless, so thank you. My lines actually look somewhat straight now.
This is soooo digestible as a beginner. Thank you for being educational and not taking yourself too seriously, you are the best kind of teacher. Seriously.
"Aimed at children" - just the art class I have been looking for since I was a child, looong, looong ago . Showing art can be taught. Respect Mr. Cowboy. :)
4:14 this whole is what I needed , my issue is control, cause my lines will end up wonky sometimes and discourage me from continuing and I wasn’t sure why I couldn’t, arm works better !
I'm a 18 yr old med student always stressed the f out cause med college u know. Thought of learning a new skill that could also be a stress reliever. Didn't know where to start. This is a gem. Gonna take time to complete the course for sure. Time for self development !!!
I don't know who Brad is what he does. I just did a quick search for drawing basics and this came up. All I can say is I'm super impressed with the excellence and professionalism put into this video. AAA quality. It feels like he works in Burbank, CA in a studio. Thanks for sharing your knowledge Brad. I look forward to learning from you in your other videos!
Most engaging, motivating and just fun video I’ve was since the start of the pandemic. Looks like you put a lot of effort into this and just wanted to let you know that it made me want to learn drawing so much! Thank you!!
Even as someone who can draw (slightly), I found this to be a really engaging video in every aspect. Very nice work - wish you the best of luck with your channel
OMG…. Flash back to 2001painting 1 with my teacher Mrs Savage. (Yeah…. That was actually her name). Our first assignment was a coffee mug. Since it was painting, we were working on canvases on easels. I was having a really hard time with the ellipses in the top and bottom of the cup matching up to create realistic depth. So … I raised my hand. (This is my freshman year in college btw). I asked, Mrs Savage, can you demonstrate how to get both ellipses to match up correctly. Everyone laughed at me. All she said was, “don’t your eyes work?” I said yes. Mrs savage said THEN OPEN THEM AND LOOK AT YOUR CUP… do you have any other questions? In the next 4 years I’m pretty sure I didn’t ask her another single question….and I just learned what I needed to know then, without ha ing thé fear of god instilled in me from your video. Thanks!!
I’m a nail artist and I’m a type of nail artist thing is extremely discouraged by watching other nail artist I can do art on nails and so I’ve been strolling UA-cam and ran across you and definitely I’m gonna take an hour out my day every day to do this to Just practice and I really appreciate you. My daughter is aa artist and. She is so good and she had me practicing lines so along with the lines and the shapes, I’ll be a winner between you and her.
I've been taking art "seriously" for about five years now and for some reason i felt like going back to basics and sharpen my art fundamentals. Wish i had these resources when I was still starting out 😊
My friend died recently so I've taken to drawing to take my mind of it. I focus on frogs mainly because she loved them and now i need to get good ad drawing
Hi! I just want to say thank you so much for doing these, you don't know how long I've been hunting for some kind of introduction to drawing just like this! I've always wanted to learn how to draw, but never really knew where to start and these fundamentals are so helpful in doing just that.
Lol I love this class! The beginning was super funny too. I actually started watching in bed but now I'm gonna get up, get ready and actually follow along. I know nothing about art now so I'm going back to level 0 :)) and the best part is, it's fun and free!
I'm 45 and decided to try to learn to draw (why? well why not). One of my most basic problems in drawing in my life has always been straight lines I suck at them. THANK YOU for being the first person in 45 years to say "move your arm not your wrist". That one piece of advice that no one else mentioned already left me drawing straighter lines.
Thank you so much for this - I got given a drawing tablet by a friend, who did not know that I am absolutely clueless at art, but I didn't want to sell the tablet as I was looking for a new skill. The style of these lessons are great and really informative, so thank you
I never expect that i will be watching this tutorial at the age of 23 to start learn drawing..😂😂😂 maybe a bit late but im motivate after reading many manhwa.. Maybe next month i will retire if i still don't graduate from this video tutorial 😂
When you teach to draw 3D shapes it would be good if you soon teach perspective as well. Many learn to draw boxes the wrong way ,so did I. (Like the way you drew the box in this episode) And it wouldnt be harder to learn it right from the beginning just better :)
I am almost 43 years old and I found myself practicing joining dots. You are the best teacher ever. Love you 😘. By the way where to show our home work?
Your videos are genuinely helping me learn to draw. I even directly credit you for this on my UA-cam / TikTok / Instagram / Facebook reels. Thank you so much for making this series.
Omg thank u!! I always see things I want to paint or draw but have no skills! Now I am starting to draw just from watching your shapes video!! And I'm doing it with my 8 yr old who loves to draw, thanks for giving us the skills to make art and spend time together! 🥰
Found this. Love it. I can Not Draw and I am 40. Will do your whole series. I Always thought I can Not Draw. And that is true since today. Tomorrow I will start your learning.
Thank you so much, all the other videos were like, just draw the shapes, and I'm here like, what shapes?? You have no idea how excited I got over being able to draw straight lines, thank you thank you!!
i came across this vid because i've recently (past week) taken up drawing/sketching as a hobby. i've never laughed so much. fun informative and easy. i've sketched and stuff before, but it's really good to get a handle on the basics. thanks heaps.
You know as a person in school i always felt i never wanted to do the homework but now i feel i want the assignments and homework so i can push myself to improve and learn
Omg I'm so glad i came across this video. I'm actually teaching art to my nephew and i was wondering how i will from the basic level. Thanks to you mr Brad 👍😊
Better than most of the paid course out there. I got into drawing recently, and thought that having some course from udemy as a beginner would help me to improve. But what I see is the tutor is just drawing by speeding up the video and expects us to draw what he draws. Thanks to this video, I admit that turning page is not cheating. I can draw some lines good from some angles as well as I can't draw from the other angles and I was feeling comfortable to draw them when I turn the page but I was feeling all the time that I shouldn't have done and pushing myself to draw from the same angle that leads to have terrible results. Anyway, Now it's better for sure. Thanks for the video

My favorite thing is how this is aimed at children because that's literally my skill level right now
me and you both
My 8 year old nephew is better then me at drawing
Same here. I sucked so bad at even the basic stuff. 😅 but with practice we will get better!
Ditto
bruh I've been trying to get better at drawing for years now and my art still looks like a 3 year olds

Am more of a sketching artist
