It feels like, the more he takes care of the listener, the more obsessed he might become. As he tries to find the cure, if he still wants to by the end, he may not even let the listener go. Or not even cure, or cure completely, having the listener, now completely instinctual, learn to depend and listen to him.
Stuff like this gives me a nice feeling of protection, which is rare for some people these days. ^^
