    For my avocado toast, I take an avocado and a can of chickpeas and blitz them together with lemon juice, salt, and pepper to taste. Then serve on toast with a fried egg. It's delicious and lasts all week!

      Sounds nice, but I can't imagine it looks a pretty colour! xD

      RDubs15 lemon juice helps it keep the color

    • @RDubs15
      @RDubs15 7 років тому +5

      theloveandlogic it's about as pretty as regular smashed avocado lol
      mandi me is right - lemon juice does help it keep its color. When you store it, cover the avocado with lemon juice and then press cling film onto the top. It won't stop the oxidizing, but it'll slow it down :)

    Avocado is such a glorious thing. You can never have too much of it. It can go with pretty much any sort of cooked breakfast. It's just legendary. Add it to BLTs, add it to toast (honestly a light bit of Vegemite with it is so amazing), stick it on the side of your bacon and eggs... one of the true fruits of the gods.

      FreakShowKirby also you could always make it into croutons for your salad :) (oil of preference, salt/seasoning, toast it, break it into pieces, perfect croutons and no foodwaste)

    • @EMitkus
      @EMitkus 7 років тому +3

      Don't just microwave it. Google how to properly "revive" stale bread. Water + oven = bread good as fresh :)

    • @Helvetica09
      @Helvetica09 7 років тому +1

      EMitkus of course this would be the "propper" way but if you just have a small piece of bread left and you want to soften it a microwave is much better :P a whole loaf or half loaf gets better with the oven if course but if you are gonna toast it anyway it doesn't matter :P also she said she is a student and may not have an oven :)

      Adams Eats unripe avocado have that kinda "soapy" taste :P they should be nice and matt when you cut them open, when they are shiny and wet they are not too good (but with enough seasoning they can work)

      Oh yes I realise that now. Just not really thought of trying them again. Maybe I'll do a video of me trying one again. I did read once too, that there's 4 different varieties of avocado as well!

    To cut an avocado more efficiently hit the pit win your knife so it gets stuck in and rotate at pull it out. Then once the pits out make a sliver in the tip of the peel and peel it. This is so much easier and you'll waste no flesh at all

    A friend of mine has the "coriander tastes like soap" gene so we usually substitute fresh parsley (I'll garnish mine with a bit of coriander, though.) We also like a dash of heat (cayenne or sriracha) in the avocado. I love these recipes. Lots of opportunities to Level Up on our own.

    Don't get me wrong i love SORTEDfood. Being a chef myself it's so humbling still learning new things to better my craft as well as having my eyes opened to amazing food from around the world. However the worst part for me is, after eagerly waiting each week to see new content from the professionals, you put up content and i can already see elsewhere and have been able to access for a while now. I get it, it's probably a massive task filming and planning and everything else which comes with being an extremely active and popular channel, but saying you're releasing 5 videos a week, but in all honesty it really only feels like you're delivering 4. I hate to be pejorative because SORTEDfood is one of the top channels in my opinion. Maybe you see where i'm coming from.. Anybody?

    If you put the eggs into the water (whilst in the shell) and stir them around for 15-20 seconds it gives them just enough extra firmness to help them cook when you crack them in. Other tips are, use a deep pan, so that when the eggs enter the water and sink, they cook as they drop; it also gives them a wonderful shape. Finally, USE FRESH EGGS, it makes it so much easier. With these tips you can totally bypass using vinegar and/or salt (which people can use too much of, ruining the eggs).
