• Equus Locations
Steps just above and below the Redwoods or Volcano Mountain where the black soil is visible. And they are usually found at the base of the metal mountains along Hidden Lake and Carno/Dead Island. Equus have a fairly low spawn rate, and most of their island spawns are in close proximity to large carnivore spawns. I think Volcano Mountain and Green Oblique are important places to look for.
• Behavior
The Equus will trot around the island and poses no threat to any survivors. If a player gets near one, they will flee. If you wish to get near one to tame, use a Ghillie Suit. Overall their behavior is similar to that of modern wild horses.
• Appearance
The Equus appears like a mixture of zebra and a large modern breed of domestic horse. It has a long wild mane, zebra-like stripes, a tail like a horse and a shaggy beard like a goat's. From the dossier it appears to be comparable to larger horse breeds in terms of size, such as the Shire horse.

Equus is an Herbivore Creature and Equus can be controlled passively, but if the situation is out of control, Equus can be knocked unconscious to tame it and control it with regaining consciousness inside the trap by setting traps around it. One of the easiest ways to tame Equus is to find Equus first and capture Equus with an Argentavis or Quetzal and drop it into a pre-made trap structure, the safest method of taming while maintaining a high taming effectiveness.
But if Argentavis or Quetzal does not exist then we can control it by the first process.
• Taming Strategy
Equus requires a unique non-violent taming method. As with most non-violent tems, the selected food must be placed in the hotbar slot on the right. Like the Tapezara, the Equus is a timid animal and runs away when startled. If trapping/ immobilizing methods are not used, it is recommended to use a ghillie suit and duck when approaching the Equus to reduce the chance of running it. If Rockarrot or Kibble is a food item in your hotbar, when it is close enough to feed and tame.
To tame an Equus, you will need to cheak up, preferably with ghillie, or sprint up really quickly and feed it. Immediately after feeding it you need to ride it, and then as it starts to buck and show a status message telling you to feed it to calm it, you need to feed it. Repeat until it is tamed.
• Equus Taming Food
In ARK: Survival Evolved, the Equus eats Simple Kibble, Dilophosaurus egg kibble, Rockarrot, Crops, Sweet Vegetable Cake, Mejoberry, and Berries.
