Is there an item, artist, or song that you’re interested in? · Recently... an artist... in our studio I listened to an LP by Chet Baker. It’s an LP that we play a lot. [T/N: the title literally translates to “blue-ly” or “in a blue way,” which will be important in a moment] When most people think of “love” or hearts, red is the color that comes to mind first, right? [In this song, the idea is that] Our love is different. Our love is blue. So, we should make each other more blue [T/N: As in, “Intensify the shade of blue, making it deeper as our love also grows deeper”]. It’s a song with this kind of contents! There is a special part of this song-well, it’s not really special... (?) but it could be special, right? (???) But there’s a whistling part in the song. Should I whistle?? I did the whistling, but I actually can’t whistle well lol (Challenge) I’ll try it once! *whistles ‘Love Me Harder’ intro* This kind of whistling is in the song. Q. What song have you been listening to recently while working out?

I’m the type that pretty much always listens to music when I work out. Recently I’ve been listening to a lot of old songs. Deux’s ‘In Summer’ (여름 안에서), and also the artist Zaza (자자). I’m listening to a lot of songs that came out in the old days. On days when it rains I also listen to ballads when I work out. Overall I think I listen to pop songs the most though-exciting, high energy ones.

Q. What’s the look you came in today?

Actually, I originally wasn’t wearing this (#jacket), because today is hotter and more humid than I expected. I was wearing shorts. Yesterday I was walking in the evening and it was a bit chilly. So just in case, today I brought this jacket along with me. And then I’m also wearing comfortable, baggy pants (#pants). I wanted to wear these Adidas Superstars and I thought, “Should I also wear Adidas on top?” so I brought this jacket! Also, this necklace (#jewelry) is the focal point of my outfit.

While I like Converse the best, recently the days have been so hot... Is there an actual name for these? Flip-flops! I like wearing them. Island slipper? (Right?) [T/N: He is trying to clarify the type of shoe he is talking about, and “island slipper” would refer to the type of slip-on shoes you might wear on a tropical island/beach] Black flip-flops! (#sneakers) That’s what I like to wear.

Honestly I haven’t bought any new clothing recently because there hasn’t been any reason to leave home. [T/N: As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic] Because of that, my most recent clothing purchase would be these pants! I have fewer basic items than you might think. I just think, “Oh, I should go and buy that.” So this *gesturing to shirt or jacket*, and this belt-before I only had leather belts, but I wanted to wear something more casual, so I remember buying this belt.

Q. What was the turning point when you decided to become a singer instead of a soccer player?

When I was little I originally wanted to become a soccer player, but I also wanted to become a singer. But... I had more opportunities to learn soccer then singing, so that’s why I became more inclined towards my dream of becoming a soccer player. I studied abroad to focus on playing soccer but after doing so, I really missed Korea. I started to find and listen to Korean songs and then I realized that I wanted to become a singer.

From what I remember, I sang 2AM’s ‘This Song’ (이 노래). I didn’t really sing any dance songs, I leaned almost entirely towards ballads. As for pop songs, I sang Ne-Yo’s ‘So Sick’. Those two are the most memorable for me.

Q. Is there an item, artist, or song that you’re interested in?

Recently... an artist... in our studio I listened to an LP by Chet Baker. It’s an LP that we play a lot. But honestly, recently I’ve only been listening to old songs. First of all, I really like Shin Seung Hun’s songs. (*born in 1996) [T/N: Shin Seung Hun debuted in the 90’s, so his songs aren’t that old]
If we’re talking about an item that I’m interested in...recently I’m really into accessories. Originally I really liked shoes, but nowadays I’m also interested in things I can accessorize with, like (keychains) (necklaces) (bracelets). I’m gaining interest in things like that little by little.
(Ah !!) I’m also looking at furniture and interior design. As of right now, I haven’t taken on the challenge yet, but one of the things I really want to try is designing the interior of a whole house.

Q. Is there a [design] concept you want to pursue?

There are many (that I want to try)! There are a lot of concepts, but first I want to try a super antiquely decorated concept. I also want to try a really minimalist concept. One thing that I know for sure is that I really want to incorporate plants. I don’t really know much about plants, but my mom likes them. My mom has personally planted flowers and brought them along in a pot. Truthfully, she likes animals-I also like animals (photo source: WOODZ SNS)-and a long time ago I kept telling her that I want to raise a dog. But we both work, so my mom said, “Neither of us will be able to take care of it because we’re never at home, so let’s raise a plant instead!” She said, “All you have to give a plant is water” lol

Q. What is the title track of your first mini album that was just released?

The title track of this album is a song called ‘Love Me Harder’ (파랗게). [T/N: the title literally translates to “blue-ly” or “in a blue way,” which will be important in a moment] When most people think of “love” or hearts, red is the color that comes to mind first, right? [In this song, the idea is that] Our love is different. Our love is blue. So, we should make each other more blue [T/N: As in, “Intensify the shade of blue, making it deeper as our love also grows deeper”]. It’s a song with this kind of contents! There is a special part of this song-well, it’s not really special... (?) but it could be special, right? (???) But there’s a whistling part in the song. Should I whistle?? I did the whistling, but I actually can’t whistle well lol

Q. What’s a thing or place that inspires you?

I think that I am inspired a lot by nature. Just in day-to-day life! I think I’ve gotten the most inspiration from going to the beach. (photo source: WOODZ SNS) Also mountains! I’m really inspired by those kinds of places. Other examples are books...(actually I don’t really read lol), but like manhwa [T/N: Korean comics/webtoons] and movies. But overall I like experiencing things myself, so walking outside (going for a walk) or traveling really inspire me.

Q. What are some investments you’re making now for the sake of your future self?

Honestly, I think that everything I’ve been doing recently has been time that I’ve invested in myself. I have things that I want to do and dreams that I want to fulfill, so I think that by continuing to work hard in order to realize those goals I am investing in myself. Every day I’m working and building things up step by step for the sake of my future.
