From time to time I get gifts sent to me often with out any warning
My UA-cam contract says that they could be deemed as payed promotions
Due to the nature of me doing vids daily mostly in a hurry
I feel it’s best so not to fall foul of contract so I will now just add the hash tag #paidpromotion to all my vids

The holding capacity of farm land and most greenfield sites is massive. Yet the government are allowing builders to cover them in concrete whist leaving brownfield sites derelict and an eyesore.
I’ll say it again. Food retail shouldn’t qualify for dividend payouts. Nor energy, education and health.
As someone who works for tesco I do agree that their profits have been a little bit too tidy. Currently I'm being paid under minimum wage (11.02 vs 11.40 minimum or something) but their new pay rate that comes in at the END of april is 12.02 or something like that which I am digusted with and is probably illegal somehow.. It's frankly disappointing that money like that isn't being put back into the communities and especially their suppliers and producers more. I'm wondering what kinds of profits other chains have gotten.
To be fair on Tesco it appears that the 2..82B profit isn't just from UK supermarket groceries and goods. About 35% of the sales are from ROI, Central Europe, Fuel and banking.
That is one supermarket, what about the rest?
Over the years farmers should have been buying up shares in the big retailers. If collectively we had enough shareholder power to make a difference and hold their Boards to account. Imagine if their AGM's were attended by 1000's of shareholding farmers!!
im harry renton thanks for the birthday wish olly
And that's just one supermarket !
Looks like foil from a cherry bakewell that picture
The little bits left when drilling ect are Gorings in Lincolnshire
We called the angle bits in fields , gurings,
Best thing for split nails is superglue then file once dry
When tesco don't pay staff properly! Its just board rooms and there share holders! Haven't got clue what that picture was for quiz question! Remember to clean the spreader!!👍👍
We call them Scoots In Norfolk Olly.
Wow what a difference a couple of days and an unblocked drain make 😳😳. You wish you had done this months ago
I've stopped shopping at Tesco for fuel or food
In the Midlands the short runs are called pikes
I haven't used Tesco's for over a year for anything. I don't like what has happened to the firm in the last few years.
Glad to see the drainage project is working for now, lets just hope it carries on,well done all involved.
We call the short work "scoots" here in Norfolk
No rain today Sun and cloud And the soup of market chains here in canada are doing the same
Sadly Olly these companies inc food and energy companies are greedy. Mega greedy . Need either boycotting or a new government ( that's not CONLAB)
welcome to rip of BRITAN
Send that bucket to Ollie at Snowball Engineering, he'll sort it properly for you!
We're always called it short ground
Great video Olly there's some water been moving in 24ths tescos profit is just scandalous...was reading something about the port of Bristol have 25% of the dry goods that is imported into this country soon everything will be imported it's disgusting should be paying the farmers more.....😀😀😀20%
If the trencher was only cutting a 4 inch trench, it was doing sand slitting. Normally done at 90 degrees to the land drainage. It will have stone in the bottom and sand on the top without any pipe.
Government should make it law that when food retailers make over a certain amount of profit a percentage should be given back to uk farms in support!
The short rows in the fields you referred to are called gores or gorins here in Nottinghamshire
On the nails you’ve split get Charlotte to sand the edge so it’s not sharp and put some acrylic nail stuff on to straighten it.
Scoots in Norfolk Olly
Great video Olly, "Wow" What a difference finding and clearing the drains has made to the field. Water will always find the shortest route of least resistance and you and the guys certainly gave it a helping hand, fingers crossed in a few days you can get the machines on it and sort out the surface. 🤞👍.
Great video again Olly, amazed by the difference in the field from yesterday.
Tesco disgusting & I’m sure they aren’t the only ones the profits these large companies make & I include gas & electric in this is a disgrace when families are struggling, something has to change
👍👍
We call the short work in fields - points
We call them gourings
Draining has worked well .
Tesco-polly is outrageous.
That’s £34 for everyone that’s in the uk. Not everyone shops in Tesco how much to the make profit from tbe people that actually shop in Ther. 26% of people actually shop in it so that’s around £130 per person profit and over £600 for family of 5 goes into Tesco pocket. That’s only ruff maths in my head not exact lol
One thing to remember on Tescos (and most other large companies) the majority shareholders are the large pension funds, so a lot of that profit comes back to the people in the form of pension growth. Now it’s nowhere near the £34 because people take there cut before then but some does return
That trencher is the same design as the original Shelton trencher. David Shelton used to store it at my dad’s farm back in the 90’s. He ran it on the back of a Unimog because it was the only thing that could lift it and go slow enough. I did a few jobs with him, mainly back filling with stone using a hopper on a three point linkage which had a narrow shoot that deposited the stone right in the trench. We would then deposit topsoil on the stone using the same tool. Very clever man.
Done Deal is an irish app for selling all sorts of stuff works well your guy should have a look but as with everything there will always be tyre kickers and time burglars
we call a corner like that a gering or nab corner or short tons (there all a pain whatever you call them)
Evening good vlog no rain today 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
My dad used to work for Ted Glen's son when he had the farm and I remember playing in the hay barn when I was a kid.
Butts in NE England.
Great video Olly rain on and off in Herne Bay in kent
Great video Olly we only had a bit of rain at 5am and I am not surprised, with Tesco I would imagine Sainsbury’s is just as bad and I wouldn’t,like to think how much booths profits 👏👏👍👍
There is a book called Capitalist Realism by Mark Fisher that speaks about the ways our economic system is connected to our mental health. It’s a bit arty-farty, and obviously lots of people will disregard it because it is anti-capitalist, woke leftist whatever, but it really is amazing, also for reminding us that there’s no shame in being unwell mentally. Fits well with your “answer as a percent” idea (not too high a percentage for me today - I know my employers are planning redundancies and my industry as a whole is struggling, so it’s a bit bleak, but I have a good support network and things that bring me joy)
0:07 great content and great see the drainage still working
In my part of South East Ireland, we call the short runs, gear ogs. No idea why
Guess Rob must have picked up the lunch in the bucket today😂
Wahoo on the bumper for my 40th you were close enough in how you said my nickname sounds like the f word but swapping the f with r and o at the end. Great video as always great to see the field has drained so much. Some amount of ground water there but in fairness its rained pretty much since October. Thanks again for all the time you put into making these videos highlight of my day. 💯 % today was on the bumper 😊
Hi Olly Nice One been a nice day down here Thanks again
In Rutland known as pikeings!
Thanks as always for your hard work Olly 👍👍
Rain on and off all day in Rugby Warwickshire. Still pretty wet.
As we say in Ireland we had a good drying day to day and we need a lot more. 🤠👍
We call them gore-ings. Nottinghamshire
Rain in South Dakota
45%
Here in South Derbyshire we call them pikes. No idea why!
If only I could swap some weather with you Olly. I'm in southwest Western Australia and its still summer weather here and we haven't had rain for nearly 6 months and it's 30 degrees this week.
I'd happily swap 400mm of rain for 10 degrees celsius.
That draining has worked a treat. We call short runs gares or garings in Yorkshire
Just a few light showers here in the cotswolds today
hi olly, I think it's great that you show what everyday life is like. in England I live in Denmark and the weather is not better here I sowed 40 ha at the end of March and 1/3 of it has to be sown once more
In south Cambs the short works are called gores which I only recently found meant spear ie triangular- obvious!
Couldn't agree more
Is John now part of the team???
I keep doing the same thing to my nails lately, bit of superglue and a file, jobs a good'un. It's so annoying they catch on everything. 95% today. Lovely bit of sunshine in south devon.
It was dry enough this pm that some drills were going but they came to a sticky halt, really wet evening
Another good video Olly.
Somebody else taking the mick this year is insurance company's. My car insurance gone up 46% .
Mine was up 90% needless to say I have changed blockers.
In Yorkshire we call the short rows Gares.
Hi Olly do love a but of draining, great rant shame the supermarkets will not support the farmers by passing on there profit would make the country a lot happier 🚜🚜
Great blog Olly - I sold another one of my old vintage push mowers on eBay today, 😢 for £34.00 …. To know that I’ve given the money to Tesco’s profits makes my blood boil. 🤦♂️🤣😩🤮
Drains - you're making a difference for sure.
Clean your relays with Servisol (or similar), not Water Dispersant formula 40.
100% today since the loose cleared right up, but I wasn't out the house just in case.
£34 and the rest; there isn't a Tesco in the town I live in.
Would you be able to do video involving the work involved in reseeding the pitches
In Leicestershire we called them pikes. Strange how local dialect is so varied!
We call them points
Olly. Can we start a gofundme for Crawford. Last I heard, he got a digger and tried drainage
In Gate ladies garden.
Olly be careful with the non gen makita charger because they can full deplete the genuine battery and rendor it useless I found out the hard way I did manage to jump start the battery off another one but not ideal
The supermarket model (keep everything they sell as cheap as possible) works well for the shareholders, and some would say the consumer, but it completely ignores the suppliers on every level.
The supermarkets only pay just enough to keep their suppliers going and no more.
Somehow suppliers need more selling/negotiating power to combat this situation.
Another field under brick or one less to worried about if crop will grow? Heavy rain around Manchester yet nothing down by oulton park!!
We call it a gushet
We call the short runs gearrachs , think it's an irish word.
In Yorkshire we call them garrings
That bucket needs some serious work done on it.
Good video 👍70% the yellow osr looks good apart from the bit that has been eaten.
A great video Olly, I plan to let my cattle out tomorrow, and it's been a nice sunny day here in Cornwall 😊
I am 65% today.
I think lots of people in farming, are on the edge or with zero profit 🤔
another true to life video well done
First great video Olly keep it up, and could you do a video on what you like and dislike about the Merlos you have?
We always call it short work, I’ve never worked a field with out any,😢
Feeling 90% today. Had a new model tractor arrive. Forecast for today has been sun, rain and a small thunderstorm. Hope you are all well. Business
Some call the odd end of the field a gearing, in Lincolnshire
Empty pie casing
In cumbria the short rows in a field are called (BUT'S).
A boycott of Tesco seams in order??
Endriggs and points in the west of Scotland
We call them gorings around me Isle of Axholme North Lincolnshire. Been dry all day with me Tinfoil cups for cakes
Last time I shop at Tesco. But then now don’t all the supermarket’s will be the same
Call them gareings in Yorkshire.
Glad you got shut of all that water on your field I agree Tesco profit’s are. Obscene but it not just Tesco there all the same Farmers costs have gone through the roof it’s untrue how farming keeps millions of people I know you do need people like Tesco they are a major player at the moment along with a lot more Your OSR looks well it’s a pity there not more of it feeling 90% today and Olly ano😢 brilliant video
Olly is it a close up of a foil tin for individual pies and the like
The triangle part of the field is short work. Picture is a tin foil of a tart or sweet empty.
7:19 I bet come December you won’t be able to find either of those toys!!! 😂
