Hello Sir, This is Ezhil, I am 26 years old. For the past two months, I have been experiencing a strain in my trapezius muscle. Initially, I followed the prescribed medication and underwent ultrasonic physiotherapy as recommended by the orthopedician. Unfortunately, I have not seen any significant improvement.
Upon further evaluation, I underwent an MRI of the cervical spine, which revealed a mild diffuse disc bulge at the C4-C5 and C5-C6 levels, affecting the anterior thecal sac. In light of these findings, my orthopedician advised me to wear a cervical collar for approximately three weeks. However, since wearing the cervical collar, I have noticed a sensation of numbness in arm and shoulder upon waking up from bed. The numbness typically resolves on its own within 10 to 15 seconds.
I would like to inquire whether the numbness I am experiencing could be attributed to wearing the cervical collar and if it is a cause for concern. Additionally, I would appreciate any insight on the expected duration of recovery for my condition.
Hello, mdm. The numbness is not due to the collar. It's because of the nerve pressure by the disc bulge in its foramen. You should avoid bending neck. If numbness persists, please consult a neurosurgeon near you
