You surrendered in 1971 because you were not essentially part of the struggle that created Pakistan in the first place. You just woke up one fine morning to find that your area was included in a newly created country called Pakistan. You don't feel the pain of losing East Pakistan. Your army since, has not made any effort to redeem or avenge East Pakistan. You later generations remained indifferent to the surrender that you invoked to the eternal shame of Islam and Pakistan.
Dhaka was surrounded by large rivers on all sides, yet Indian paratroopers entered Dhaka (from Tangier). Entire East Pakistan was divided by 136 rivers and rivulets, making large scale invasions impossible by enemy. You just needed to stay one more week or 10 days in all...before UNSC imposed cease fire would make India vacate the territory of East Pakistan.

In 1969 when a massive public uprising held in all over pakistan, and when shaikh mujib got majority vote in 1970s election, many bangalies still trusted pakistan.Because we are the black and short (the way our "muslim" brothers used to describe us) people of bangal raised "Ladka lange pakistan" slogan first. We were people opressed and exploited by hindu zaminders for more than 100 years, we knew what AZADI means, we knew from our very core what united India means. With hostile population, zero supplies, flooded enemy agitation and limited strength, Pak Army fought to their limits and no army of the world could have done better. Manekshaw on record admitted this openly. I salute the brave officers and men of Pak Army who sacrificed everything they had to keep Pakistan united 😭 And they DID NOT surrendered on their own - Gen Niazi included - they followed the orders conveyed to them by Islamabad.
