It almost felt like watching a pregnancy unfold through ultrasound scans, watching the bowl emerge from that blank! I think it is the tactile experience of turned wood that appeals most to me. Pieces with a spectacular curl in the grain, or a spalted piece just feel so wonderful under the hand, in my opinion. I might not know diddly about wood or the craft, but I know what speaks to me, and curled grains shout at me! Lovely result and a great job!
Thanks! I appreciate it!
Great piece of wood and work thanks for sharing 👍
Thanks for watching Mike, I appreciate it
Wow just beautiful grain!! Great job 👏🏻 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you Janice, I appreciate it
Yet another outstanding turn. Curly maple is some of my favorite to turn and work with. Such beautiful wood.
Thanks Jeremy, it finishes very nicely. Thank you for watching.
When I am trying to sell a bowl with curly grain, I ask the customer to close their eyes and rub their fingers across the bowl, then open their eyes and look at the grain. As far as I'm concerned, this wood grain is magic!
Glass on the outside throws them off. Love it when the wood does the work! Thank you for watching!
Beautiful figure!
Thank you Rex
Just found your channel, I loved it,thank you from Fl.
BLESSINGS
Thank you Sydney, welcome, I appreciate you watching!
Looking good Lewis. Congrats on the channel growth. With the quality of your videos and the products you make, I would expect to see 10k really soon. Best wishes, Dave.
Thanks Dave, I appreciate the help getting here!
Nice one Lewis. I like the hot glue idea at the end. Job well done 😁👍🏼👏
Thanks Japie, I appreciate you watching!
I love it. A beautifully turned simple bowl accentuating the gorgeous grain, design and turning skill. I just subscribed. Thanks for sharing, Steve
Thank you and that’s for subscribing!
Very nice, the beauty of the wood makes this 👍🏻
Thanks! It is always a bonus when the wood does the work for you!
Thanks for your turning and casting videos. I’ve heard that any finish is food safe if you use your nose. If you can’t smell the finish any more, and the finish is fully cured. I would like to be in the giveaways you have. God bless brotha.
Thanks! Keep an eye open for the 1000 subscriber giveaway which will be announced this coming week! I appreciate you watching
love the chatoyance in this one
Thank you, It is nice when the wood does the work for you!
So pretty! Nature does some really amazing things with wood grain. Your turning brought that out, and made it pop! Well done!
Thank you Dave, the wood did the work for me again, gotta love it!
Great looking maple bowl
Thanks MVM! I appreciate it!
Looks great 👍
Thank you Bill!
Sorry I couldn’t be in your premier. I had to go get a Covid test done. What a pretty piece of wood. Was glad to see you explain grain and cutting with the grain. I am surprised that the wax is different. I’m going to guess that it’s the difference in the regulations there in Canada. Beautiful bowl you’ve got there.
Thank you Doug, reach out on messenger and let me know how things are buddy. I appreciate you watching
Rocking bowl. Well done!
Thank so much Doug! I appreciate you buddy!
Great piece.
Thank you David, I appreciate it!
Thank you for letting the wood show it's beauty, while using the kiss acronym ( keep it simple stupid) but I'm not calling you simple or stupid! Thanks for taking the time to make this video and posting as well! I appreciate the tips.
Thank you Donald. Sometimes simple is best!
Great bowl.
Thank you!
Very nice indeed. 👍🏽😊
Thank you Mark! I appreciate you watching
Beautiful
Thank you!
That turned out so pretty. Great work =)
Thank you, I appreciate it
Beautiful piece. The simple design really made the wood speak for itself. What do you use for sanding pastes?
Thank you Scott! I use Yorkshire grit regular and microfine. Thanks for watching
Lewis Gorgeous bowl, I am not sure if I entered the give away, if not could I now ???
Thank you Douglas. I checked and you are entered for sure. Thanks for watching
Does hot glue really hold the tenon well? especially larger pieces?
I have turned pieces up to 16" on hotmelt Rex. If you check Sprague Woodturning's channel, hot melt is all he uses. You just have to gage how hart you go at it by the piece. Thanks so much for joining the premiere, I appreciate it!
OK, I love this. I can’t wait to make something like this. Again I really enjoy your videos. Have you ever had your hot glue come loose on a project like this? I haven’t tried doing something with hot glue but I am tempted. So many times I compromise on what I’m making because of my blank is just a bit too narrow.
Thank you Alton. I have had hotmelt come apart one time and if you look at the video I made it says in the title “hotmelt glue failure”, you will see what I did differently that one time. Thanks again for watching!
Just a caution on hotmelt, make sure you buy a good brand and not one that is $2 for a package. Hardware store not dollar store. There is a difference. Let your gun get good and hot and give it time to cure.
Another beautiful piece! You make it look so much easier than it really is😊
Thank you Gerry!
Wouldn't mind getting my hands on a chunk of that. Nice job.
I got this in 1998 and this is the 6th and last piece I have. I’d like more also! Thanks for watching
Man, you eastern boys sure do have pretty wood. Nothing like that grows anywhere close to me, I’m afraid. Do I sound a little bit jealous, Lewis? Well, I’m not a little jealous. I am very jealous! Another great video, buddy! Keep them coming! 👍👍👍😃😃
Some people, (not me), would trade the wood for the oil! Thank you Gord, I appreciate it!
Great work, and Great Bowl Thanks for sharing.
Keep on turning.
Cheers, DAVE
Thank you Dave!
Love the color and grain it's absolutely beautiful👍👍👍👍
Thanks, I appreciate it
Lovely piece! The High Gloss Hampshire Sheen has only been certified food safe in the UK for the last year or so when Martin got it produced by a third party who already had the certification.
Thank you and thanks for the clarification! I was certain it wasn’t approved and I’m glad for an explanation.
The regular Hampshire Sheen high gloss is not food safe. They do make one that says on the front of can food and toy safe. Nice bowl. Love the curly maple.
Thanks! I wasn’t taking any chances. I appreciate you watching
Bob Gauthier Always impressed with your ability to bring out natures hidden beauty in a piece of wood . Another beautiful work of art.
Thank you Bob, I appreciate it.
I'd eat a big thick bowl of seafood chowder out of that with a sleeve of crackers haha. Don't worry about the sheen
It is just the right size! Thanks for watching
The maple grain is beautiful and your use of the hot glue is very neat. Thank you for sharing your video.
