The team returns to Azores, Portugal for their second season at this unique chain of islands. It doesn’t take long for the team to be reminded why these islands are so special. A few days of fishing produces some of the best numbers and weight classes the team has seen on the tour. With several fish weighing over 500+ pounds and a couple coming in near the 900 pound class. Join the team as they return for the first time to a world tour destination for a second season. A few familiar faces return and a new record is broke on the Badco Spencer 57.

Respect for putting that much heat on the fish, even if you lose one every once in a while.

Since you guys don’t bring the fish into the boat how do you guys know how much the fish weigh?

Marlin captains are some of the worlds most experienced and skilled fishermen out there. Many of them have decades of fishing under their belts, full of knowledge.
They can call a marlins weight by just looking at it, often with such accuracy it’s only 20-30lbs difference over or under the actual weight which isn’t much when talking big fish like this.
Captains have seen so many marlins in their careers, been part of r seen the old style weigh ins when that was popular, guessed the sizes prior.
Same goes for experienced lead men and professional anglers like Anthony who also have seen the fish up close, been part of marlins being weighed.
This has made the killing and weighing of Marlins almost redundant.
Peoples view (captains, crew, anglers alike) of killing marlins have changed a lot in the past 1-2 decades, for the better at least in some countries.
Weigh ins are more accepted in some countries than in others, whilst some tournaments have a no kill policy if I’m not mistaken.
Tournament rules varies greatly incl views of weigh ins,
Some marlin charter boats do not accept killing of any marlins. Maybe exception of world records being broken.
      Hope this helps.

@@KingOfFvckingEverything yes this helped a lot. I love the fact that they hardly harvest the fish, it’s great for the conservation of the beautiful fish. And when the fish dies during a fight, the fish never goes to waste, they always donate anything that they don’t plan to eat. I love this program!
