Great clip used to follow County in my youth in the 70s and still keep an eye out at the arse end of football but still a massive loyal following so maximum respect.
I remember going to this game with the family, all City fans, and my grandad’s mate who was County. He wouldn’t shut up the whole way home and my grandad threatened to leave him by the road in Ashton 😂
@@birdyedits4051 Do you mean Stretford Scum who do not play in Manchester & never have done other when they had to borrow Maine Road after the Luftvaffe destroy Stretford while bombing SALFORD DOCKS? North Road was in Oldham Just over the border from Newton Heath Actually looking at old maps it was part of Salford wrong side of River Irwell!False Mancs Salford City have my respect played many a game as Salford Tech & Anson Vills amateurs down on the Cliff .
Listen the top and bottom of it City was always a top ten Club like Leeds are now but just in the wrong division Stockport are a league club but the lower leagues punching above there weight when they was in the Championship, then Div 1.
This is my oldest memory of following football! Man City lost to County twice that season but City learnt from it and are now champions of England, whilst County are in the same league as my local club Stalybridge Celtic! Come on the Bridge!
Matthew Lofthouse Learnt from it yet lost again to County in 2002? More like City got promoted, moved on and ended up getting lucky with owners. Couple of billion later and City are well established as a top side in England. County have suffered from many amateur, poor decisions at boardroom level and through no fault of the fans are now playing at the lowest level of any club to have played in Division One (Championship)
Learnt from it? Are you joking? County unlucky with bad owners. City got very lucky with there free council house and then winning the lottery. City have always been a small club and will continue to be. Everything county achieve is of there own back, as football should be.
@@markwright6685 Funny you should say that because only 5 teams have ever played more top flight seasons that City, only 6 sides have more top flight points and only 5 sides have a greater total top flight attendance. Perhaps your knowledge of football history isn’t as good as you thought eh?
@@Dan-pz2cw No they haven’t. This is game was in Nationwide Division One, a league below the Premiership (now Premier League). It was the highest County have ever been in terms of leagues. I’m a City fan who had a season ticket during this season and I now live in Stockport.
@@tomben6180 I didn't mind Stockport fans before the late 90s but since they beat us a few times and playing in Div 1 (Now the Championship) in which they was punching above there weight let's be honest, I've just found them insufferable ever since, they actually think they are bigger than what they are since that period. @@craigmullen9046 They were awful for a few years but have relaxed now. A bloke at my cricket club supports County but also wants City to do well, he’s the only one I speak with about County so I’ve lessened my dislike for them.

Ahahahahaa. Legend says he got left and is still lost in Ashton

If your local club is Stalybridge Celtic, why don't you support them rather than City?
Do you know if you can still get the full match on DVD?
We’re City would be without money
What season was this? I had my £50 season ticket for Tranmere in 97,98,99 🤣 and we were a nationwide division 1 team then too
1999/2000
They brought out a retro kit today to celebrate 24 years since we beat the Citeh
The fact Bailey is my best friends dad is crazy

GREAT GAME, FOR SCFC
I always got the impression this commentator despised Stockport.
he's a city fan tbf

Everyone acts like city fans are plastic but look at this attendance and it’s not even in the top division
Dan Evans no it’s not Stockport have never been in the top division
