Thank you for uploading the only live play video for the Gavotte. This is a piece that can catch the ears of young listeners who are accustomed to electronic arpeggiators in contemporary music.
Paul, I grew up in the UK. I have Bob James Rameau album, and this is one of my favorite songs on the album. It is awesome to see it played on the harpsichord! Keep up the great job!
Really loved your tempo. I've always wondered why almost everyone plays the opening theme so slowly. I'm not an expert on the gavotte, but thought it was faster-paced than the way this is generally played. Your tempo gave it more definition and made it seem more like a true dance form.
Thank you! There is no reason to play this piece in multiple tempi, other than adherence to pianistic tendencies. My opening tempo is based on my preferred tempo of the final double.
Excellent playing! However, I must ask, have you read Rafael Puyana's remarks about this piece from his album "The Golden Age of Harpsichord Music"? He says that the Gavotte and each variation are to be played slowly. His version takes over 10 minutes to play!
My tempo tries to find a somewhat danceable gavotte while also maintaining consistency throughout each double. Personally, I would never say how something should be done--not that I've actually seen what Puyana wrote. À chacun ses goûts!
That's why we have interpretations of music. I do like it slightly slower but this is fantastic. The good thing about interpretations is you can find variety and it refreshes the music. How boring a world where it all sounds the same. Thanks Paul this is fabulous!
Thanks for the post, Paul. I enjoyed watching the hand positions for the later variations. I've been trying to learn this piece occasionally for years since I first heard a rendition on the "Sky 2" album.
Wonderful! Nice playing, Paul! That looks like it was great fun to play, as well (If only I knew how to play keyboards!). This is a wonderfully spirited piece with a properly exhilarating conclusion.
На рояле это произведение звучит совсем по-другому. Сначала я услышал его в исполнении Натальи Кудрицкой и мне стало интересно послушать вариант на клавесине. Создается разное настроение и мне понравилось оба
This harpsichord sounds like an original! If it’s a copy, then it’s a really unique sounding one. Now a days, most if not all copies sound foolish compared to an original.
How it was said before: great music and great playing/performance...
After all these years I have discovered Rameau... Thank you sir,,
Played this in college - it's not easy. Thanks for the excellent performance!
Quelle virtuosité et quel beau clavecin . Merci pour ce moment de bonheur

@Quinton Rhett Thank You very much I don't know flixzone Good afternoon !
ABSOLUTE BLISS THANK YOU SIR.
Wonderful. I don't play the harpsichord but I remember what William Christie said: Rameau is very complicated.

It's fantastic! I would listen to this over and over again. Such a nice sound, a good recording. Great music, great performance!
Thank you!
I listened to your play yesterday and I am doing it right now! Wonderful music!

Sì amico!
One of my favorite unplayable pieces! Thanks for the instructive hand view and for showing how easy is can be, especially in that last one.
+Glen Shannon It's never easy!
You can also download as a MIDI file and use synthesia to tweak it to see the notes being played. Or if a MIDI already exists you can just import it
Excellent,cristallin,divin !!!
Simply amazing skills and style!
Many thanks for perfect great playing of ageless Rameau!

Magnifique !
fantastic..!
Soberbo! Estou maravilhado. Confesso que nunca prestara attenção na musica de Rameau. Obrigado, Sr. Paul Cienniwa!
Você é bem vindo!
Hahaha! In portuguese we say "de nada". I love your work, Mr. Cienniwa, I am crazy for the harpsichord.
I blame Google translate!
It was my fault, I didn't know you speak English; I apologize, Sir.
Wonderful!
Très joli son !
a lovely rendition.
thank you!

1966 Dowd, recorded on smartphone built-in mic. Thanks!
@@PaulCienniwa The Dowd sound is magical.
Reminds me of a kidnapping at a lamasery in the Tibetan mountains.
Ah, that's more like it. Yes, this piece is much better on the harpsichord than on the piano.
It's the only way, of course!
Hmmm I played this on the piano. The harpsichord version sounds nice, but I can’t decide which is better. Piano or this
This!
Harpsichord OF COURSE!!
Sky2 brought me here...
Le style svp
