Your video helped a ton. Thank you. I have a newer LC4 with counter balancer but most of it is still very similar. Wouldnt have the balls to do it without your detailed step by step video. Thank you.
Everyone must see Chixwithtrix Facebook page. It explains who she is, her life. All the best👍
I love this video, it's a credit to you....you dad must be very proud.
great video, thanks! it helped a lot. however since I did it twice in a week, I can tell that you don't need to cut the plastic that holds harness. you can keep it in place and the cover slides without problem anyway.
that frame a little bit nasty for some maintaince. But dayyym woman changing camshaft...now i've seen everything on the internet. You go girl!
+Andrius Krasauskas frame is a PITA to deal with, but eliminating the recirc valve on the valve cover helps. Thanks!
+chixwithtrix - do you have a "video/how to" for deleting the EGR stuff? Great channel btw.
Sam G Thanks! It was pretty self explanatory, a few bolts and clamps. I think there is a good photo thread about it on the KTM forums.
now i learned how i can adjust my valves on my enduro r 2015. thank you.
With synthetic oil 10w60 works great, the sound is less than oil 10w50 . Regards
Very good detail. Delicate hands probably make it easier than the meat hooks some of us have.
Awesome! very well edited video thank you.....
If I'm guessing (and seeing correctly) the new cam has a greater duration for more lift-on-overlap, so you'd expect more top-end power at the expense of a little torque lower in the rev range. But if you plan on revving it hard all the time anyway...! I'll admit I'm impressed, servicing and particularly valve clearance checks scared me off buying a 690 Duke in favour of a Street Triple R. More fool me... Awesome video, keep it up!
Definitely more duration, maybe a bit more lift but mild. I'd like to see the actual specs. Fortunately the KTM top end is pretty simple...albeit noisy haha
It's one of thos jobs where you wonder if it would just be simpler to drop the motor. I thought the Valve cover was PITA on the 690 enduro.
clear and precise well done great job .
Nice job! I liked your work. Lc4 engine is very good! I'm traveling with a 690 usa to Peru now, videos In my channel.
Great job. Its very helpfull. Thank you
That was great job! ニホンノktmライダーヨリ
proud of u bosss
I thought at first u r a man.. U r one Amazing Woman i've ever knew..
Very nice video. Keep it up.I have the same bike myself and i love it. Don't you have to do a remap?
Yes I am getting the Akra tune at the dealer today actually. I did the Fresco cat delete pipe and the cam at the same time, and will be installing the airbox soon.
good job,and result!!
any problems since then? also did you notice at the first ride big changes? some say that soon or later u ll gonna have problems with piston if you install the rally camshaft
Nice video :) One thing is missing, in 5:40 you remove cam tensioner cover, you didn't show how you installed it and this can be tricky part. In general if you remove this cover you can't just turn it as cam tensioner will be in blocked position. You have to: 1. Remove cam tensioner 2. Compress it to blocked position 3. Put it back compressed 4. Screw tensioner cover 5. Remove hex cover(which is inside tensioner cover) 6. Using e.g. 10 cm hex key push tensioner, tensioner unblock it self and will be in operational mode.
adamusbe3 Yeah all you do is keep it untensioned and let it back once installed. Never install a tensioner pre tensioned.
Nice job mate!
Incredibly detailed video! Clearance is the same at TDC for both intake and exhaust valves?
+chixwithtrix awesome!!!! I don't fear the little Austrian engine now. what about reinstalling the cam chain tensioner? I was planning on getting a manual cam tensioner because I heard it was a bitch
+MikSane I just pressed the stock tensioner in and tightened. Wasn't really an issue.
Change performance cam, without modying piston face... It's still below 235degree, i believe
Does anyone have hp #'s after new cam
Thanks
Where did you see the most gains with this cam? Low end, mid range or top end or just better performance all round? I have a 690 enduro r that I use for off-road riding and more low end grunt would be nice but I guess dropping a tooth off the counter sprocket could achieve this for me. Great job on the cam swap 👍
It was all on top, made it pretty gutless down low honestly with little gains on top. I ended up selling the bike years ago, but was a fun project!
I finally found the girl of my dreams ,!
Nice job sis
Hello there.
Tnx for the informative video. My Duke had a broken decompresion leaver, and there is small damage to the cam. Its not mandatory that I change it. But if I did. Did you find that the bike needs a retune, power commander etc?
Im not after totally ultimate performance, but if I'm going to buy a new cam. For $100 more it may as well be the better one.
Would appreciate your thoughts.
Regards Mark R.
I ended up selling it, not enough power. A tune was good, not mandatory if download it from the forum.
Remap with stock ecu cant?
Wow, good job! Very well done. You have something to be very proud of. Very smart.
I'm thinking of getting this cam for my bike. Do you think a tune is a must?
Thanks for sharing. Liked.
I find the 690 is still a powerful bike as is. Mine is a Enduro R. Same same but shorter gearing and wheels ,i think. Do you find it made a big difference in torque and horsepower delivery? Was it worth the time invested in your opinion?
RideOrangeKTM Not worth the time IMO, but I'm a sportbike person so the whole bike was lackluster.
Okay! I understand where you come from. As a trail bike its a real mean machine but i could see why you don't find it as powerful on street use. Still a single after all! Thanks a lot for you opinion. Happy riding.
RideOrangeKTM Was a fun bike, can't deny that. But for a highway commuter it just didn't cut it ya know. Thanks!
Shame the enduro does not have the same room to remove the cam. IM now removing the entire engine.
Can 690 duke R version install this cam?
U do the remaping?? Or just putting the cam and test run?
Hi! Can you show to me how to install the inner bearing of cam? It is a needle one with rubber seal, I mean how the seal bust be oriented?
Did you doesn't setting up the piston for more cleareance and added the valve profile ?, because i think that new cam is provide higher duration and lifting ( according the comparassion picture ) and changing the spring valve to more harder ?
Another question as I am about to commit to the cam...did you do camshaft first? My only mod right now is a DNA s2 filter on a stock bike. Did you remap after the camshaft?
Single cam?
Can anyone tell me the difference of duration high & low camshaft for this duke 690..what is the duration aand lift camshaft
which lamp do you use for your frontlight?
Good
I know it's a late comment but what vam shaft did you use ?
Power increase or change when you get the power or both? Can you explain the differences
Jack Laughlin I sold the bike because the power band and increase was not enough to merit the work.
I heard that ecu remap gain some performance, but leads to serious damage to the engine. Is there any truth in it!?
Unni krishnan You will need a remap if you do the cam for sure. Rides like poop if not.
Hi, just wondering if you had the bike mapped after fitting this? Mine has just arrived so will be fitting and checking the valve clearances whilst I’m in there.
Nah, did it with the Power Commander, kinda generic tune I found online. Can't remember any details though.
It’s fine, I’ve got a place nearby who will do it, don’t need power commander as they can map thru ecu. Got new chain and sprockets today also. Got a lot planned for this baby! 😁
looking to cam my Duke. Did you need to do anything after the install, like a new map?
mast h
Super ya
Is this the same cam as the R version ? or do they use the same engine ?
+Dulf Nordensvärd This is the Rally cam available from KTM in the Evo 2 kit as well as by itself. I do not think it is the Duke R's cam as people install the Evo 2 kit on the R versions.
Hello! How did you install the new map?
Alvin Zantua Power Commander program on the computer. Just link it up and send, instructions are in the box and walk you through it.
is it Low cam shaft?i use high cam shaft now.which one is better u think?
+chixwithtrix high cam shaft will push your valve deeper,as i watched your video it seems that u use low cam shaft which will force the valve to open longer not deeper
+Faouzan Nawi I believe it has longer duration and maybe a bit more lift than the stock cam. Not sure what you mean by high and low.
+chixwithtrix i see,but it much better than original one right, thanks for ur video, nice bike u u have there, too many part to be taken out just to install a cam,i wonder what about overall engine overhaul, must be challenging,euuwww..
Way above my pay grade
any quarter mile time gains??
chixwithtrix ....ok.....any dyno charts that came along with the cam???.....btw amazed to see you work on the bike .....hats off!!!keep wrenching☺
@@naveedaka Thanks!...and no dyno charts, I didn't keep it long enough to mess with that
watched for the beat since i dont have a ktm
chixwithtrix thats what I use also mostly. But sometimes I like to go straight to sound cloud and search there. try it out
Pls be shy all guy in the world
poor design between tubular frame and motor
Am I the only one who doesn't notice the difference between those 2 CAMs ?
+Dawn Moon You don't notice the difference in the lobes in the video, or the difference in riding between the two cams? The lobe profile is much wider on the performance cam.
+chixwithtrix , I can see it now , I didn't notice it at first. Did installing this CAM increased the performance on its own, or did you remap the bike too ? ( nice video by the way :) )
+Dawn Moon the bike has to be remapped with the cam. I did notice a difference riding the bike without a tune after the cam. Revs more freely and has more top end. Definitely needs mapping though, rides pretty bad, jerky and bad fueling.
All your videos are outstanding! Thank you so much for taking the time to educate us on the Duke 690.
Brett Hawton Very welcome!
