WonderKids Afterschool Program Winter Spiral - Craftsbury Common, VT

On a quiet, snowy evening at Craftsbury Common, VT, children in the WonderKids afterschool program participated in a timeless tradition shared by many cultures: the Winter Spiral. Just at twilight, families gathered at the Common, where a spiral of evergreen boughs and sturdy stumps lay waiting. One by one, children stepped into the spiral. As they journeyed inward, they were invited to reflect on the past year. Reaching the center, they each lit their candle, a gesture to honor the darkness and shift of the seasons.
