No if your system working perfectly then no need to update firmware, but if you want to change or update custom rom then you have to flash latest firmware with them .
I think you should not root your device if your all system working fine , and the unroot system have low chance of system break and specially with device of mediatek , I suggest you to do not try any unwanted experiment with mtk processor.
@@AIdous generally in my case every time I flash rom doesn't cause any imei deletion problem and I am not do imei backup at all. You have to just flash as I said in video. 2nd question - if your device not detected then install adb setup file in pc or try to use different pc laptop other then you have
