YAY SETUP VIDEOS ARE FINALLY HERE! There will be a new video every day for the next five days and then a full classroom tour! :) Missed you! Was your classroom empty or full when you moved into it? If you're not a teacher yet...what would you prefer? Let me know in the comments!
I've moved into an empty classroom, a classroom that was SLAP FULL of years of stuff, and a classroom that was left with the normal amount of stuff. Empty classrooms to me are much easier. It took a full year, lots of donations, lots of help, and many, many trash bags to clear out the full one.
Hi! I’m a new subscriber and I am moving to Kindergarten this year in Florida after teaching 2nd for 10 years. I appreciate all that you have shared to help me get prepared! I love your classroom!
Love setup videos! So excited for this series. My classroom was STUFFED, but it was full of completely useless items. For example, I had boxes upon boxes of dried out dry erase markers, a manual for an ABACUS, and books from long before I was born. I had cabinets full of math board games from the 80s, and science materials... when I don’t teach science! It took me weeks to get rid of even a fraction of the clutter so that I could fit my own supplies.
thank you!! I had a lot of those things too. I think when you teach for awhile you don't really go through things and toss as they expire/get old. I'm still working through trying to clear things out but it is a lot to take on!
YAY! Love seeing your videos and seeing all the joy in your new classroom! Love the way it turned out and how wonderful it all of it looks! I am so overjoyed that you are teaching! You are doing such a great job and your littles are so lucky to have an amazing teacher that is making the classroom space joyful and welcoming. Love ya girl!
I’m currently virtual (and pushing into classrooms when I’m not virtual) so no classroom for me. But I did teach 3 years in one school where I constantly switched rooms. I prefer an empty classroom. When I first got hired my classroom was full of stuff I didn’t know what to do with. When I switched classrooms the year after I got rid of some stuff. But midway through my third year I switched classrooms again to the tiniest classroom you ever saw (it took my 36 steps to walk the perimeter of tue classroom it was that small). So I really was able to get rid of all the things I should have gotten rid of my first year. It’s overwhelming walking into a fully set up classroom if it’s not what you envision your classroom to look like. You’ve done an amazing transformation of the classroom. I love your set up videos! Can’t wait for the rest of them!
Yes! Having less space definitely helps get that final push of what you need and don't need. It probably feels nice to know there's a purpose for every single thing you have now! Thank you for your sweet comment!
I’m so excited for these videos to come out! I moved into my room mid-year after the previous teacher left (unwillingly) which made it very hard because it was completely not my style, conducive to kindergarten-ages learning, or functional, in my opinion. I had A TON of work to do just to get it ready to teach in a space that worked with my style of teaching and it was very overwhelming.
My classroom had furniture and some books and the cabinets were full, but super bearable 🤗 All things that I would use! Thanks so much for all you do! You did an amazing job with your room as always! ❤️ Love watching your videos!
Awesome job! I can’t wait for the next one.. 😃 And I love your back room - soooo much room for storage... And your library slanted tall shelf looks great..... ❤️
I’ve move into two classrooms this year. My first one the teacher left everything because she was coming back the next year. And the one I am currently in she left everything but is coming back at the end of the year to take some of it. She left mid year to be home with her small children. A lot of the things in there have been past down from year to year and I’m looking forward to making it truly my own this summer!!
Pretty full! The previous teacher took almost all her things, but left it full with all the stuff from previous teachers and things that didn’t work for her new grade. I definitely got rid of so much! But as a new teacher I did need things, so it worked out!
I started teaching 1st grade after fall break and have been doing the same. My classroom is a mess right now but I'm so excited for for vhow it will turn out.
My (first) classroom I move into today is fully furnished, however I already know I’m gonna be taking a bunch of stuff out and putting my own touch on things! 😊
I had a FULL classroom! I’m a first year teacher this year and it was chaotic to come into a classroom with so much stuff that wasn’t mine or fit into my ideas/teaching style. My teacher is still on campus she just moved positions and took only 1/2 of her stuff! It was very sweet to get all of that stuff and I’m not ungrateful but it was overwhelming! I think I’d prefer an empty classroom to start fresh!
it's definitely a hard position to be in - hopefully you could use some of the things! it's nice in the sense that they can "hold you over" until you can afford everything you really want haha
I started out with a completely empty classroom. Like not even furniture which was a little scary. But of course I’ve filled it up after a year. I love it now
So glad you’re back! :) I’ve had two different classrooms and both had quite a bit of stuff that was..... not needed by me 🤣 a lot of purging went into getting it set up 😅
I haven’t had my own classroom yet (still in college, but hope to have one someday soon!). I think if I was a first year teacher, it might be helpful for some stuff to be in the classroom (like maybe some furniture), but definitely not as a seasoned teacher with stuff of my own. Personally, I feel like starting with a clean slate sounds kind of nice.
I’m not in the classroom yet, but I think I’d like to come in to a full classroom! It may be a lot of work cleaning and getting set up but hopefully there would be some stuff I’d be able to use!
My first room was empty, but my second room was full. The empty room is easier to plan around, but I’m so appreciative of everything left behind in my classroom! It was definitely a lot to go through though, lol!
Even though it’s December, and I have not seen my classroom since March, I love classroom setup videos. Thanks for putting them out, can’t wait until the next one. Did your school stay in-person in December? I’m in SoCal, we’ve been remote the entire time.
Wait this is so nice to hear! I'm sorry you haven't been able to be in your room. I hope this vaccine brings that to you! We went back to hybrid right before break
Last school year my classroom was empty (furniture wise) but had manipulatives. This year my classroom was filled to the brim. I had to throw a ton away because it was just junk 🙃
YOU’RE BACK! I’ve missed your videos so much! ❤️ my classroom was empty when I entered! I’ve moved classrooms every single year I’ve been at my current school (3 years) so it’s been a new layout each year but I’ve had fun redesigning it each year! Year 1 was a trailer and honestly probably my favorite 👀 #mccgiveaway1
I’m so glad you’re back! I absolutely love your videos & get so much inspiration from you! I started this past January in Kinder. The teacher before me left a FULL & messy classroom!! Thankfully my team cleared most of it before I got there so it wasn’t too much of a hassle. But, I decided to move classrooms this school year & the teacher whose room I took was retiring and she had a LOT of things left!! I spent nights upon nights just reorganizing all her things because I did not have anything! I think I preferred that over not having anything though! #mccgiveaway1
You made that classroom beautiful! So proud of you for all you have been through this year 💜 #mccgiveaway1 my classroom was EMPTY. I would have liked it half full. It’s tough starting from scratch!
This whole American concept of grades is so wild to me. Where I grew up, we always had different teachers for each subject, even in elementary school. I think working with the same group of children for a whole year would get me super attached to them😅 Although if I’m being honest, that might be because of me, since I’m a kind of a TA right now and spending my time with fifth graders and as much as they are annoying me, I’m so sure I’ll cry my eyes out when I have to leave them in July😅
Yay excited for the setup! My classroom was kind of a catch all room (when I moved in 6 years ago). However, I was blessed & had a lot of help from other teachers/assistants setting it up because I was completing student teaching right down the hall. #mccgiveaway1
Loooove watching this set up. I’ve moved into 3 classrooms in 3 years (my choice- so don’t feel bad for me 😂) I was able to stay in my same room this year PRAISEEE! Out of all of my classroom 2 were partially empty and 1 was completely furnished. I prefer EMPTY! #mccgiveaway1
I love seeing your setup videos! My room was kind of half and half. It had every cabinet full of stuff that was old curriculum and stuff that just didn’t really make sense. #mccgiveaway1
In the beginning of the year my classroom was empty. Only set up behind my desk since we were starting virtual. Never got to set it up completely. I just had a grade switch mid year to a new school (middles school to third grade) and I still haven’t seen my classroom in person. The week I was supposed to go check it out I got covid and then the district closed all schools completely until February so I have to wait until then to see what I got 🤷🏽♀️ #mccgiveaway1
I have moved into two classrooms both with some stuff left in them. But nothing like what you had to work with! I would much rather prefer an empty classroom! #mccgiveaway1
My classroom wasn’t completely full, but had a lot of random stuff. The majority of it was very very old, and extremely dirty/gross. Crushed up saltines and pretzels in the bottom of cabinets, an aquarium tank full of dirty empty water bottles, a wet pencil case in the sink, and so much more. #mccgiveaway1
Was luckily in the same classroom as last year. So I didn’t need to do too much compared to you. But I did rearrange the classroom set up and added some decor to my wall this year!! It actually looks like I know what I’m doing this year 😂 #mccgiveaway1
I have moved every single year I have taught. I wouldn’t be surprised if I get moved again 😅 every year the classrooms have been left with a ton of stuff! This is the first year I had to take most of things home because of the lack of space (all school items and no closet space). This eoy I hope to have some time to clean up a bit and maybe add more space for my items (if I stay in the same room) #mccgiveaway1

With covid, my district didn’t give teachers money for purchases like usual and the things I did have, students can’t use (games and manipulatives and such) #mccgiveaway1
My first classroom was full, but mostly of old resources and paper junk. The second classroom started out FULL (floor to ceiling) with band instruments and PE overflow. Thankfully the band director and PE dept came in and cleared it all out for me and I got an EMPTY room. No desks, three tables, EMPTY. #mccgiveaway1
@@MrsCallsCampers Yup! It was actually the chorus room but our school (middle) did not have chorus. I started a theatre program and got that room since it was near the stage.
I was hires on October so a long term sub was in the room. So it wasn’t empty but it wasn’t an entire classroom worth of things either. I kept it mostly the way it was that first year! #mcgiveaway1
