    Guys, I am a classical pianist and i am so very impressed of this piano even though i would be happier if the keys were a bit heavier. They are also kinda flat in order you to be able to play fast easier. Anyway it's amazing and I am really satisfied with it. I bought it just a week ago after a long long research and testing so may different pianos. In terms of dynamic and response this piano is simply amazing. Using headphones i can't believe this sound is not coming from a grand piano. It's rich and beautiful. Another very good thing about it is that's only 17kg.
    The reason i went for CP4!?
    For last 2 months i bought two Roland pianos (FP90 and Juno 88) and both of them had manufacturer defects so i had to return them. Anyway I still wanted to give a chance to Roland as I really love the sound and touch and was ready to get a 3th one. I went to a store, they opened the box of a brand new one in front of me. I started testing key by key and guess what..... a key in the low register was responding 3 times louder (no joke) than others doesn't matter how lightly you press it. So I fed up with Roland. I also tried RD2000 and was amazed of the sound and touch. It's impressive how a digital piano can sound so brilliant just like a grand piano. Also very rich tone and sensitive response. Somehow i was not happy with the touch even though many pianists share great opinions about that. Ok, i know i am too picky when it comes to pianos.
    Then i bought Nord Stage 3 as I’ve read good reviews. Also considering the price i was expecting something good. My mistake was i ordered it without never tried it. This piano is a joke, it's like a toy as the only and most important thing to me is the feel and response. The sound is flat and it's not possible to get a good voicing and fine dynamical phrasing. It just doesn't perform your musical intentions. Forget about Chopin, Liszt, Rachmaninov etc. playing on this piano. Classical pianists know what I mean. Also it was out of tune in the lowest register which is unacceptable. Sorry Nord lovers! I had it for 2 weeks and I sold it.
    Then i read good reviews about Korg Grandstage 88. I was like i will not order it before i try it:) So i did. The touch to me was just bad. In terms of dynamic - lacking sensitiveness. Another very annoying thing - you can see between keys those metal parts under them LOL
    After all this experience I decided to try CP4. I cannot believe i found a piano which satisfies me in what i was looking for. You can just paint your musical thoughts on this piano playing Chopin for example. And if you have a good loudspeakers it's dope! It deserves every single penny.
    That's my experience and personal opinion. Cheers:)

      StratiaOfficial: sounds even better when you turn on the noise cancelling feature of noise cancelling headphones. Sounds as if you are in a sound studio. Beautiful.

    Phil Clendennin is a fabulous presenter. I'm still making music with an old P70 and I use patches in an Apple program, definitely looking to upgrade. I thought for a while of getting a CLP635 and use its sounds, and sounds in the Apple program and maybe some virtual programs. But I'm strongly leaning toward this CP4. It has wood keys, 3 main piano sounds that are tweakable, some 70s Rhodes sounds, and that's mostly all I care about. It's a way better piano to use for workshops than the P70, and only ways about 10 pounds more. And it has wood keys. The Clav has VRM, stereophonic optimizer, 256 poly vs. the CP4s 128, but I'm not sure if I need VRM, although "sympathetic resonance" is a big buzzword for those that like to criticize Yamaha and talk some other brand up (I have big respect for Roland and Kawai, but get tired of some others putting down Yamaha to put their brand on a pedestal). I like the Yamaha sound and feel, and for those that like something else, that's what competition is for. But, the CP4 is now 3 years into its life span, is there a successor coming soon? Again, this is a fantastic presentation. It's so easy to follow and I enjoy Phil's playing.

    I looked this up on youtube because I attended the Hall & Oates concert in Dallas, Texas on May 13, 2016 and Daryl Hall was playing one of these.

    Really great demo! The only thing missing was a B3 voice. Does it have a bit of Jimmy Smith in it?

    "Why so many pianos"? "Because we're Yamaha, and we can."
    OK, so, why no sympathetic string resonance? Why sample stretching? Why not utilize the EQ faders as drawbars or the organs? Why are the black keys without wood? Why can't you use the drums sounds as a rhythm box for practice? Why no MIDI through? Why only 1/8" stereo input?

      Shows how pathetic copyright and trademark law are. You could copy the instrument identically yet can't call it buy it's full name, only abbreviation

    without knowing the speaker system it is hooked up to it all seems moot.. It seems all of the digital pianos demonstrated on you tube fail to identify the speakers or monitors.. Whats up with that ?

      Maybe they record directly from the keyboard to get a good sound - that's the way I would do it as speakers add over 5% distortion no matter how good they are.

    • @tedcapellos3676
      @tedcapellos3676 7 років тому +1

      Thanks , I now realize that by using a mixer a keyboard can be hooked directly up to an audio / video recorder without the need of speakers or mic.

    CP40 vs CP4, whats the big difference? please help.

    • @NStuffMusic
      @NStuffMusic  9 років тому +17

      36. Just kidding! Actually the CP4 has more sounds or variations, a 5 band EQ (CP40 3 band), CP4 has the ability to layer and split (CP40 layer or split), and not to mention the CP4 has best feeling Natural Wood Hammer Action keys with ivory feel (CP40 Graded Hammer Action).
