  • We're back in the transmitter room replacing old APC line-interactive UPS devices with new Liebert GXT5 double conversion units. Watch as we turn off the FM+HD transmitter and other equipment, then rack the new UPS devices and set them up.
I also have a confession: I went through the entire writing and editing process thinking we did this on a Saturday morning, when in reality we did it on a Monday morning. It was during the period Nielsen stops tallying ratings for the holidays, so we were able to do work during the week. It also helps that this is a tiny Class A station.

Great video!!! I work in broadcast engineering as well and to mitigate UPS failures or swapouts we use Pulizzi Dual Power distribution blocks which allows us to hot swap/repair UPS our so we dont have to power everything down. either way, you got a new subscriber!

Why did you change from the APC UPS units to the ones you are installing? Were APC units giving problems?

I did IT support for my office for a long time. I moved from APC to Trip-Lite UPS for our desktops. Just found them to be heavier duty and like the front panel displays. The IT department installed another type of UPS on our network switch gear as well as the router that took us from the buidling's ethernet to the fiber optic cable that connected us to the WAN. I had to fight with them for a few years over keeping the network switch up in a power outage. Our lab was located in an industrial plant on the edge of town. With the large motors switching on and off and a lot of water nearby, the power out there was very dirty and power failures were not uncommon. Also I had to explain to them that we weren't just web-surfing and sending emails of kitten pictures, but needed to have full-time access to SQL databases that were on the servers they moved to dowtown as well as communication with our other labs and the sample collection crews on the other corner of civilization. Those people could be so dense at times, but I ended up with them eating out of the palm of my hand.

I work in the AV and IT industry and find this very interesting. I'm wondering as an avid Milwaukee tool user what is that driver you are using. I may have to pick one up for myself.

I finally remembered to actually look at it this morning - that driver is the Milwaukee M12 FUEL installation driver. It's great! The kit is model 2505-22, but if you don't need a battery and charger, it's 2505-20.

I applied for this job at my local TV station because I really want to learn more about TV broadcasting. The interview was good and I thought I got the job. They ghosted me. I know work for federal reserve IT. I am good with electronic and anything related to Networking. I still wish I got part time job doing this. Good stuffs. I really want to know how to operate TV station for all lot of reasons. Must have skills were I came from. My uncle is actually the information minister and I thought if I learn thing or two and network with couple of guys who are retiring maybe I can get TV station license and open my own TV and communication company. But when those guys ghosted me I could not believe it. I thought I would receive not selected email or letter but they just ghosted me.
