    - Relaxing Breath (4-7-8 Method): • PART 2: GUIDED BREATHI...
    In this video, Kya, Sally and Maeri walk you through a guided breathing exercise. This technique is the 4-4-4 method, also known as "Box Breathing". We use this method regularly ourselves and have undertaken training to administer relaxation and meditative breathing techniques to others.

I don't "need" mental health help but it still helps a lot. Even just the sentence "you are safe" helps me realise and remember that I am so lucky to have a good life without greater danger. Reminder: It's okay if this doesn't work for you, it doesn't mean your broken or impossible to calm down or anything. I personally freak out more if I'm panicking and have to count breaths because it makes me realize I can't breathe and then I breathe less because I panic and I'm in this loop of "why can't I breathe?"
    I'm not saying don't try it and love the content just reminder for those like me who try it and then might need to use other methods.

    Hi Kya&Co. I’ve been watching your videos all week, and I’ve come to this playlist. I don’t have DID, and have been interested in learning about the disorder for a decade. I work as a mental health practitioner, and I wanted to reflect to you how perfect this video is. As someone who sits in rooms with highly traumatised individuals almost daily, I use and share this exact breathing technique coooooonstantly. Thank you for sharing this, and in a way that’s so relatable. As I watched, I took some tips from yourselves about how to present this to clients, and I’m glad you also count out “In..2…3…4” - the amount of times I’ve been overthinking during sessions about whether that’s helpful and how I can do it in a helpful and supportive way. This validated that I’m not presenting the skill completely wrong! Thank you!!!!

    Instead of counting seconds, try using your heartbeats for counting. Especially if you are upset you may feel that your elevated heartbeat races ahead of your counting. Try to sync breath with your heartbeat, even if it seems fast. Once you are in sync, try slowing down the count just a fraction. Given some practice you will notice that you can actually get your heart to slow down with you slowing down your breath, which is a nice ability to have. I am, of cause, only speaking from personal experience. I am no expert.

    This was very helpful thank you so much . We recently have been struggling with our mental health again. We hyperfixate on keeping busy by over working , continuously planning to the point where we neglect ourselves because we are so focused on work . It’s one of our trauma responses which other people find useful but to me it causes me a lot of stress ,anxiety and bad panic attacks if things fall out of place. This was very relaxing and grounding at a time where it’s needed the most ❤

    Thank you for this video, it's extremely helpful. I was taught something similar to this in therapy. They taught me to do box breathing as part of my night time routine alongside another great method for self soothing and calming. It's called body scanning. You work from the feet up until your eyebrows, in little sections, tensing your muscles for 3-5 seconds and then releasing. It helps you realise which muscles are already tense and is a great reminder to unclench your jar and relax your eyebrows.

    2 Days ago (I am writing this in the morning btw) I found this channel through Anthony Padilla's video with DID systems. I started watching A LOT of the videos here, especially the old ones. I started with the newer videos, and found out rather quickly that Nin and Kyle were now Kya. This was not a super important discovery for me at the time, but it is now. I watched a lot of the old videos where Kyle was fronting, although they were far from the only ones I watched. I thought Kyle was a pretty cool guy. I'm pretty sad that we won't see him again. Some may be wondering how it's only Kyle I'll miss, it's because I see a lot more of Nin in Kya than I see Kyle in Kya. For that reason, it doesn't feel (at least for me) like we lost Nin, or gained Kya, it just feels like we lost Kyle. He will be remembered, and I'm sad that he's gone.

    • @sumdewd
      @sumdewd Рік тому +1

      I think Kya does an excellent job and has been able handle stuff that Kyle or Nin might have struggled with alone.(I would have too)
      Different situations require different approaches & that is where Kya’s flexibility has proven to be the strength needed to adapt and overcome.
      I think a lot of Kyles strength and humor lives on thru Kya & shines pretty brightly at times.
      If I recall correctly Kyle had mentioned he wanted to be remembered for his contributions but in many ways I think he still is contributing.
      For instance his actions affected you enough to post this, which caused me to have this realization & reply
      It’s all still rippling out
