I got this album when living in Seattle in the 1990s as a college student. Someone suggested it. Had my kids listen to it and they were under 10 years of age. Gave them a first hand experience to alternate music and they love listening to all kinds of music like I do. Early learning is important!
De tijd van mijn vader als kind zijnde...jaren nu later na zijn overlijden luister ik dit weer voor het eerst en ja toen was toen vergeten doe ik mijn jeugd niet en mis hem thanks.. drive the Duitse autoban and you will know how it's feeds.. drive with no limed... and go... it's like have no limits thanks Germany to have no speed limits

@hemidodge1637 I know! My dad used to play this for me when I was a kid in the 80's. I instaly fell in love with Kraftwerk. Also moog music from Isao Tomita.
Unbelievable! My dad and his brother (Same Age) only ever listened to opera and classical music - they were from the Eastern Block. But they totally loved Isao Tomita, and Kraftwerk....How does that work????

I found this great album cover and fidelity of Kraftwerk around three years ago. Now there are at least two more lovely, "fuzzy" renditions of the cover uploaded, and am not sure about whether I'd call the variations in sonic Kraftwerk. Well, I guess it's convenient, if one likes the music, to have the adapted scenery and sound right in one's own UA-cam account.

The Art Of Noise reached what this band was striving to reach one day. I see this Autobahn album as the new born and The Art Of Noise albums (especially the Below The Waste album) as the adult version of incredible industrial music. This Autobahn album was released just 7 years after the first ever synthesizer had been invented (in 1967) by Robert Moog.
What can be considered the first synthesizer was invented in 1895 and used additive synthesis (where each generator produced a frequency & is why it took six train cars to move this instrument around). Robert Moog took the opposite approach to this principle by having oscillators create a "wall of sound" and using filters to eliminate the part of the sound unwanted (thereby allowing for the first time that a synthesizer could be portable). Both are amazing minds in making what we have today.... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telharmonium
Who's listening to this in 2021? As I write this, it's 11/1. 47 years to the date this was released. Along with artists like James Brown, the most sampled or used music for tumes for the last 30 years.
used to play this a lot when i ran a hf pirate station back in the day
synth music does not get any better than this masterpiece
