4X4 on my Ford 2002 XLT will not go into 4X4 but occasionally the light will go ON in the dash, so I suspect an intermittent issue. I am going to check the fuses for corrosion/bad contact before attempting to replace the 4x4 module behind glove box.

Unfortunately I'm running mismatched tires on my 04 explorer (I do not recommend). And due to the size difference between the front and the rear tires there was a terrible grinding sound coming from the vicinity of the transmission I pulled the yellow fuse which has disabled my four-wheel drive but the terrible sound is no more. Thank you

Absolutely should never run differing sized tires in 4x4 or awd vehicles. You will ruin expensive things.
