Used to rebuild these in High School. Farm Power Mechanics class. The first start was always brutal, but once it was tuned in, it was easy.

Congratulations on your Slant Dash A prize. I, too, have a slant dash ('44 model) that hopefully I'll get started on restoring this winter.

Have you done anything with the Model A. I am looking at one now that is probably set up from just sitting for 4 years. I want to fix it up nice to have as a fun tractor. I have a JD 6410 that is my workhorse but i want a Johnny popper!

can you pull out all of the old popping Johny tractors together and make a vid of them?

  •  9 років тому +1

That A is cool we had two of them when I was young. One you had to start by turning the flywheel . I can remember starting it when I could just reach the top of the fly wheel. That was the tracter I learned todrive on.

Now maybe you can understand the true value of a "bank barn"..... Always park on top of the "bank" so you can do a roll start.......

  •  12 років тому +1

i think by the way its runnning, the timing might be off on the moter.

  •  12 років тому

sooooooooooo glad I have electric start.

  •  12 років тому

....I could almost swear I heard Teresa there.... Was she there already? (some voice tones tells me this is not Teresa though)
I was searching for one of your clip about old JD cold-start as a response for a farming/machinery group ---facebook though :-( --- (and/but hoping they sub to your channel etc) ;) (my only hope though is that they are smart/clever enough to already know what farming is about.... no matter the end-products or business involved.... and humble enough to know what it takes to put food on the table, and trying to have fun doing it just as what's life is supposed to be)

You sure that’s an A? Looks small for a full size A. Looks more like a M model.

    turn off the petcocks

    •  6 років тому

      Richard Anderson why

    •  6 років тому

Farmall Fanatic it relieves the compresion slightly allowing the engine to be rolled over quicker and easier. Thus forth easier starting.

    •  6 років тому

john deere 4840 With the petcock shut off you aint startin it

    •  6 років тому

Farmall Fanatic not true opening the petcock does not realease all of the compression that is the way you start them old two cylinders by hand. Look it up.

    •  6 років тому

john deere 4840 With no gas flow how do you keep them running

  •  5 років тому

You drove that far for that big piece of junk you must not have a lot to do.
