  • Spotts Performance windage tray and scraper. Part # WT4 and CS01IA. Both items tested in 1000 HP dragster engine reaching rpm levels of 8000 RPM. Never a bearing failure! I even had 2 blocks start cracking up the main web - but never hurt a bearing in 8 years of 7 second 1/4 mile passes. Makes anywhere from 10 to 20 extra horsepower and keeps oil by oil pump pick up - in the pan. The windage tray was developed by Paul Spotts and has gone through several upgrades to what you see here. Tray will work on IA II, the MR1 and factory blocks. Works with 2 bolt, 4 bolt and splayed main caps. Also works with 2 and 3 tapped and threaded main caps - both aftermarket or factory main caps. Windage tray works best with crank scraper. I have 2 crank scrapers - with and without oil dip stick tube hole. Without dip stick hole (featured) is mainly used with splayed main caps. See my website for other crank scraper. www.spottsperformance.com

You give a lot of info to the Pontiac faithful I think that’s great and appreciate what you’re doing to keep our brand moving into the future but with a flavor for the nostalgia.

Was recently informed a highly respected engine builder removes 1" to 2" section of my windage tray to open up a larger area for oil to escape. Something to consider as a modification, but it may effect the windage control slightly. Just thought that was interesting to hear.
November 2015 update, the engine pictured is revving at 7000 rpm's in my 69 Firebird with KRE d-ports and best et to date is 9.79 with pump gas

Nice job on both pieces. In your honest opinion who makes the better aftermarket aluminum or cast iron block IA II or MR1 ? Also for a street & strip engine that has a lot of power & reliability how many ponies would you recommend & what combo? IE - what block, bore, stroke, pistons, crank, cam, cam lift, heads, carb, fuel injection, transmission etc. would you run for a weekend bruiser street/strip engine? Assuming all other parts work with them & use the best parts. I'm thinking 1000 to 1500 HP twin turbo engine. What's the most HP & still really strong & reliable & can last a long time?
