Probably my favorite squatting variation. You can posture up nicely, get your hips under the bar and drive hard without the apprehension of getting pinned/snapping your shit up. Glute engagement is extremely high
I've been doing these, because I hate Front/Back Squats, following NE. I started at 50kg,hurting like hell, and 2 months after taking it seriously,my max is around 110kg with a pause at the bottom. I think it's the first time I get full ROM and more than 80kg squatting. Really loving these and I can't wait to get 140kg and even more💪
Hey Phil. I just started doing these a few weeks ago and I love them. Def my go-to squatting variation at the moment. I really feel like my abs/core get a great workout as an added bonus. I’ve also been using the barbell pad whilst doing them and it’s made it a lot easier on my elbows. Finish off with some reverse hypers and I’m all good
Fantastic video and a great idea of a series. I'm looking forward to the other parts of these bang for your buck lifts 💪
love this series, please more videos like this!
I might just ditch the back squat tbh. I seem to always freakin get hip pain when I back squat, and have always had luck with the zercher.
Love the series already
Saw this vid yesterday and tried it out. Felt amazing. The pins definitely helped with the pain. Thanks for showing this variation!
Thank you for this video, phil
This is my favorite type of squat now
Very underrated. Good tips.
Good series!
Definitely going to max on these, look fun to do!
Im doing those on very low bench spotter stands and commenting during my rear period. Nice!
You don't even feel the bar on your elbows after a few times
Thats right, first ime it was horrible pain, but after a few workouts no more at all.
Good exercise
phil, are you planning on doing a cut any time in the future like alex?
Been doing some zercher holds just for core work up to like 245 nothing beats the feel of a lot of weight in your arms.
Good vid Phil :)
Going to add zercher squats to my squat workouts. Will try both variations. Thanks for this video!
@@PG.Coaching Got a chance to do zercher squats the last two Saturdays of January. Used both the Baraban Zercher Squat Harness and on my elbow creases. With the harness, starting with unracking weight from belly height, as you increase the weight, the weight will pull you forward. So, if trying near max weight, seems better to start from a low pin position. As for using elbow crooks for zerchers, since I completely lack flexibility from the bottom, unracking weight from roughly belly button height, before descending and squatting back up, worked best for me. In general, I felt muscle activation in my stomach, glute, hamstring, quad,, and sacrum( near the tailbone of spine) areas. Will do another report on Zercher, after my next workout.
I do use Zercher squats on low pins, but never thought to pause on them lol.
I do this on my Deadlift program... It is a odd lift that really test your grit and hits everything...
Happiness all around
Great video!
Have you tried this with bands too? The stretch at the top on your traps, shoulders, and forearms is unreal.
This exercise is a life saver because I hate back squating because of lower back injuries.
This exercise is very friendly on my lower back
Would you say front squats are better on back squats for lower back pain to ?
My favourite new squat version I can do without hardly any lower back pain!
Yo bro, would you recommend flat shoes or OLY shoes for this lift? Thhhhx ! ;)
Good video. Would you ever consider showing yourself doing a working set (more than 135) on your demo videos?
Follow him on Instagram. He just uploaded him doing this lift td. This is meant to show proper form no need to go heavy
How tall are you? And how much do you weight?
Hack squat builds my lats more
Yo phil, would you recommend this to a novice lifter in replacement of regular BB squat?
novice lifters should not do either. novice lifters should do reverse DB lunges and goblet squats to perfect their squat form.
Hits the lats!??
Do you think getting strong at zercher squats can help your deadlift in a way?
Yes, but you have to set the pins to parallel or lower for your depth, but ideally the lower the bettee
FitWorldExposed understood did it for the first time yesterday at parallel or maybe a little lower and did 315 for 5 but I'm pretty sure I can hit a lot more
I did 285 off the floor, second time ever doing it. Would you say this is pretty good?
2:45 What is that little girl doing in the gym?
Why are you squatting for your upper back? If you want to hit your upper back just do a deadlift. Not every lift needs to be tailored towards hitting the upper back dude. Squat for your legs (especially a standard back squat)
It is amazing for the legs, especially the quads.
Being great for the upper back is just an added benefit.
@@thecaptain2505 you get more out of the front squat if that's really what you want. Greater ROM and it's even better for the upper back
"And its happiness all around" Lol I'm diggin Phil's vocabulary gainz
