excellent work, i would like to ask a question that, in case we are doing additional loads on structure which option to be choosen- reinforcement to be designed or checked
How do you check now the beam section is adequate or not? In your experience, Do you check the design thru the concrete frame design? Is there any means to check the D/C ratio?
Upon checking the ETABS design output, the retrofitted beams were designed as columns. Is this correct? If not, how do we translate this as beam to verify its strength criteria or its D/C ratio?
How does retrofitting work in etabs? Does it acts as a single component after adding section property or does it behave like different components (previous column and new added box) taking different loads??
@@KSSE_Engineer it act as a individual column that is rectangular column is single column and the box is also a single column, then this is the theory then explain that the added load if any then inside column will fail( that's why we have jacketed column) and outside box will pass then there is no add up in strength of the inside column.so , structure will fail as previously. So how can we explain to etabs that there is distribution of load to entire inside and outside Element of column( bcz in section designer the individual axial load capacity of both box and rectangle when draws seperately, gives the same value when draw combined as yours, so there is no increment of add capacity, so means they are acting individually)?
@@KSSE_Engineer sir, actually we are doing final year project on retrofitting. We just have a small doubt on the behavior of jacketed column. Whether the box and rectangular (original) column will act as one unit to take load or differently...

For retrofitting process checked for new building choose designed .

Yes you can check manually or from design output.

It behaves like column.
