The first time I saw PG was this tour on Aug 10 83 my birthday! Best birthday ever! Seats were about 8 rows from stage incredible show, he even came down thru our isle during "Lay Your Hands On Me" a little different set of songs than "Plays Live" album but close and thrilled when this "Plays Live" album came out. I've had the pleasure of seeing PG 5 times his concerts have always been the most memorable I've ever seen.
This is the best live record ever done, all categories. Thanks for adding footage to it, Even if the quality is not optimal it still adds to the experience. Absolutely amazing!
I've had this album (now CD) for over 30 years and always lamented I was never able to sheer theatricality of a Peter Gabriel concert. And now I can. I am eternally grateful for this.

Amazing job splicing! One of my favorite eras of Peter Gabriel, when he was at his best, or so I thought at the time... But even mo' better works were to come (or at least as great). His longevity as an incredible talent really stands out. Nothing like the pop artists of today.
I was in Lausanne (Switzerland) on this tour. I even remember to this day details of the concert (music, sounds, stage, light, band, setlist). It was magic. Afterwards I never ever went to PG-Concerts - to not damage the memories.
Cell phones obviously can be a big distraction at concerts these days (for those around people who keep their screens bright, leave the flash on. But, they are a big reason so many shows, and at least a few shows of a tour are well documented, usually a full show shows up in very good quality. It's almost a crime that so many shows from the late 60s - 90's were never filmed with great quality. But thank you, this is friggin' amazing!! My comments take nothing away from the appreciation of this, and the amount of work to put this together. Nor from those that were able to film this. Wasn't like carrying a cell phone in, basically a minicomputer, camcorder, audio recording equipment, in your pocket. Just so sad that these old shows weren't documented like shows today.
SPAC, best show ever with my best friend, changed my life. I never will forget how blown away I was by the show, never to be repeated by the artist himself in subsequent tours. And as far as drummers, Jerry Marotta is the only one who could pull off the dynamics and bottom here for this material. I only wished for my show he would have played DIY and I Go Swimming.

40 years later, Tony and David still with him, been with him the entire time. That says so much about working with Peter. By the way, I know someone that works at a venue Peter played at last month. She helps take care of the crew, food and the like. Suddenly as she's putting the food out for the crew, Peter comes in, sits down, and eats with his crew. Definitely not one of those Primadona's that would never ever sit with their crew.
around 1982 i started getting into Genesis and looking at LPs in the local music shop and with their music was this little beauty ,originally i only got it because Peter was associated with Genesis and i loved solsbury hill which was a no brainer ,anyway its always been one of my coveted LPs, when you hear i go swimming, the rhythm of the heat ,solsbury hill ,DIY and the brilliant san jacinto, the way Peter throws his voice is brilliant!! now i come across footage of this great album,well done to you who uploaded this as i thought id never see it ,then 41 years later up pops this👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻, one of my mates saw him on Liverpool empire and when he done lay your hands on me and he goes out into the audience my friend took one of Peters shoes off him and has still got it today as a keepsake even if it is unusual 😊...when i put this LP onto the tv it shows the cover and my grandkids get scared ,not surprised with all that make up 😅,sorry about all this info but so excited about seeing this footage and again big up to our fried who uploaded / downloaded it 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👌👌👍😎to you ,made a 57 year old PG fan very happy 😊

I was too young to see that tour so it's great to see. My older bro did and introduced me to PG music that time around. I first saw him in 1987 for the So tour and every tour he did ever since except the orchestral thing which i was not too much interested in. I'm going to see him again in 2023 for the so called i/o tour 40 years later to this. It will most probably wrap his live touring carreer up. That's fine. Everything has an end. I hope he will greet us with a few old maybe less known songs like 'i have the touch' or 'no self control' and even (one can dream) 'the lamb lies down on Broadway'. I don't really bother earing 'Sledgehammer' or 'Solsbury hill', but i guess he'll have to do them as they are mandatory fans favourites.
Took my girlfriend to see this tour at the Greek Theater - very front section. She knew nothing of his music and we were both 😮 Never seen that great of a SHOW. That and the Pat Metheny Group First Circle tour at Irvine Meadows Amphitheater are my tops. And I saw The Wall live in LA before those.
I was at the show at the Greek Theater in Berkeley. Froze my ass off on the concrete steps. Only time I'd been there before was for Genesis but we were on the grass, so I didn't know to bring something to sit on for the good seats.
Saw this this tour at Forest Hills Tennis Stadium in Queens. He played the Palladium in NYC the year before the tour where he entered through the audience. He surfed the whole crowd I remember. He fell onto them. Nick Cave used to do that too.
If anyone is wondering why these videos are posted in HD when 144p would have been enough, I have the answer. This video (very nice work thank you) is based on the double albums play live from 1983, if the image is bad the sound is high quality. UA-cam posts audio in aac 118kb/s for videos up to 480p and increases to 192 kb/s for videos from 720p. So publishing a bad image in HD is totally consistent with keeping the best audio quality. THANKS.
Mesmerizing, this album, time and time again... from the first note on to the last. Well thank you so much now for supplying me with footage to what must be about the best live album ever. I just adore this 83 Peter! I saw him then, in Belgium, and am sooooo much looking forward to seeing him again in Antwerp next May. (on what might be his last tour?)
One of the few concerts i rated at "Religious Experience" [my top rating, just above "Multi-Media Extravaganza"]. I was at the Greek in Berkeley in 83.
We had pretty good seats for this show in Madison, WI. I remember Tony Levin setting up a camera on a tripod behind us. Not sure if any of this video is from that show
I had no idea any video footage of this concert existed and did you sync the footage up with the actual double live album the sound quality sounds as good as it. You did a great job if you did for sure.

Me too. I occasionally test to reconfirm. 😆 Happens every time I reach the crescendo on Rhythm of the Heat. It's been that way for me since 1983.
Saw this show in Cleveland. Sitting on the isle as the band walked to the stage with the drumming. PG almost hit me with drum stick!! Loved it!
I was there too! Hell of a summer. If I remember correctly I saw The Police a few days later on the synchronicity tour.
