Back east they're using auto-transformers and boost transformers to keep return current off the rails as much as possible. It looks like Denver is going with a simple feed? Using tracks and statics to return the traction current? I'm guessing since the route is relatively short the simple feed method was chosen since it was the most economical?
I was wondering ... looks like there is a return feeder clamped to each pole. I assume the catenary return is through the rails and the feeder shown in the video? Are you using the auto-transformer method or a simple 25 kv feed method?
Andrew Bisset If the lines are up, assume they're electrified on any of the lines currently under construction. Initial electrified testing is taking place primarily between I-70 and Pena Blvd. and the airport.
Connor Pack it is literally going in the direct opposite way of having useful transportation. RTD should stand for reason to drive. They put stairs on the train with no ramp, how could one idea be so terrible. There are no gates or anything, nothing like manhattan subways. It is as if the technology is going backwards, pretty sad really
well, if you insist on having such a rotten attitude about it, I guess I can't stop you. But I for one am extremely excited to be able to take the train, but this computer and the light rail, from the airport to just a few minutes away from where I live. To me, that's way less of a hassle than driving all the way out there. RTD has my support, & I hope they continue to expand and create these awesome projects
So pissed you are opening one up in my neighborhood. Why would you put this god awful noise in a neighborhood (North N line) with expensive homes? Now you are driving down the cost. NO ONE is going to want to hear that, and it's going to be next to a school no less. IDIOTS!!!! Just bought my dream home and found out about this stupid project. Now I will have to move!!!
You probably have never been to California then. The Amtrak Capital Corridor train that runs between Sacramento and San Jose goes right past my cousin's house in Fremont. You get used to it after a while. It shouldn't affect the property values at all.
pretty pathetic comment not gonna lie. Kids are getting bombed in the middle east and here you are bitching about how a train goes right next to your neighborhood and how its too loud. what a fruitcake
I was on them back in may....explains why they seem so new. very nice and convenient way to get into the city from the airport

nice to see that those light rail trains have a real e bell...whats the horn on it?
They are not light rail trains they are electric multiple unit commuter trains.
There commuter rail but I did the same thing tell my dad worked for them
Looking forward to its opening next spring!
Looks like something worth railfanning for when this line opens.

Imagine Bombardier Talent 2's running on this line.
Fantastic! How much of the line is currently electrified and ready for testing?

+swordandgunandsteel FRE SHAV ACADO
They could have left out the jabbering background yokels.
We have the same cars in Philadelphia we call them the silver liner 5
Yea, there is a seemingly high resemblance between the two
+Panzer Fulmer the difference between the two is only they doors, while Denver only has high level doors Philadelphia has high and low doors.
When is the line expected to open?
+Epic Julian The "A" Line will open April 22
Is any of the current fast tracks ahead of schedule like the w line was
i'll bet a taxi is cheaper
denver should let private sector take care of everything
+John Smith A trip from the airport to downtown is $9 on this train. That's way cheaper than a taxi.
Connor Pack probably take 2 times as long, plus light rail ticket from other parts of denver if you dont live downtown
Or you could stop being such a downer and be happy that Denver is finally catching up to other cities in public transportation.

Ah yes, our Boulder County tax dollars hard at work...

Stupid idiot. If anything a train line will drive up property value, not take it down. Stupid idiot.
