I generally don't like the show line GSD because breeders have bred the slope to far. But this one, is just gorgeous! But I will always prefer the working line. Like my boy.

i think it's not that gsd will win just because it is a gsd. these kind of contests are based on very strict standards about dogs like color, teeth, body structure, family line, required personality of each breed. it may sound racist but yeah dogs are breed and trained, so the ones that best match the original purpose of its breeding/training will win.
I gave the petit Basset Griffon Vendeen my favorite, and would love to have
one of those dogs.

German Shepherd should have won. The GSD is all around best in everything dogs do and are. I only came here to see the GSD too.
Looks like this GSD in this video is German show lines, hence the roach back. That's pretty interesting because in most of these shows it's the American show line GSDs that are almost always dominant! I own a working line, and I would never buy a show line. But if I was to, I would buy a German show line. At least they still obtain some working ability, and need titles before being bred.
well thats not correct...this was probably a UKC Standard show..ukc goes for the curved back German showline gsd and not the American showline. If you knew about the actual well bred dogs you would prefer an American showline. When they are bred correctly (which lately breeders have been putting them back to normal) they have a body very similar to a Czech working line..and most of them these days actually do have to do herding as a requirement for show in some places. All the health problems and everything people talk about is juat a bad reputation because really the majority of the showlines these days are being bred correctly
Paz Hernandez I said it was German show if you read correctly. I just said it's interesting because most of the time in AKC shows its American lines. German show lines, at least in Germany are required to be titled at least IPO1 or some herding title. I do IPO with my GSD. I know American show line breeders do health test, but a sad truth is they don't have as much drive and nerve to do the jobs say a Czech working line does. With my trainer I have seen some American shows trying to do IPO and they don't have the nerves and drive to do it.
Amber stavenuiter i did read it correctly,eh yes many American lines are messed up at that point. Some American showline breeders are at least putting their dogs in herding or agility. Many American lines are turning good again whike others still have the overangulated 1970s look. If you look at Keystone German shepherds or Heidelberg they do all types of jobs and look great. Other good American showline breeders are Shereldean,Heidelberg,Keystone,I can't remember the name but on ein Texas aswell...a fews others that i cant remember but if you look uo Shereldean gsds they will have a link to other great breeders
Yeah! I have seen some that aren't as angulated, so they are getting better. It's all the BYB pet breeders that breed American show that screw them up. Some breeders just like showing, which I respect, but I think a GSD should still have the working function to it! :)
Amber stavenuiter love American showlines when they are correct and have a desire to work. I also think that the American showline pet bredders are the ones that screw them up. Since they are bred for pet homes they don't really breed for any good working or functional movement traits.Some Show breeders these day are breeding for a nive long trot and a balanced body. My favorite american showline is GCh. Lockenhaus Rumor has it. Gosh she is great...except when they pose her wrong and make her look like a hockwalker. When she walks she is like a working line. If only i could find a good American showline breeder on near Memphis TN i would be showing german shepherds too.For now i just do basic agility and obedience with my boy Rex

german shep has had its ears pinned.. why do that really? there ear's look great with out if you dont mess with them they go just as good if not better. idd love to stick pins n the guys ears n see how he likes it

I kind of feel like people who know anything about the heritage of the German Shepherd can see that that dog looked utterly ridiculous. Especially with that far slant and froggy little legs. It's a shame that the standard has become so exaggerated. Max Von Stephanitz - the man who essentially created the breed - his dying words were "Keep my shepherd a working dog, for I have struggled my whole life long for that aim." And now look at them! They couldn't work their way out of a paper bag.
