Also when you upgrade your build off rip at a 60. Look at the cost of your attributes for maxing it out. Once you increase your players overall, the cost is more. Example of my build at 60, layup cost me 9k from a 67 to a 91 layup. Once I got my player to a 70 overall upgrading other areas, my layup cost 29k from a 75 to a 91. We are being finessed when upgrading our builds! Please check this out laker!
The way 2K does builds this year is that every build cost pretty much exactly the same this year, so VC cost is based off the change in overall not the attributes itself. For example it'll pretty much always cost exactly the same to upgrade a build from 85 to 90 on any build no matter what you upgrade.
@@KingAfrica4 which puts you in this weird spot where attributes that dont contribute to your overall much (like post control on a shooting build) are extremely cheap to upgrade and those that do are extremely expensive regardless of how low youre actually starting. my 6'8 sf could upgrade post control from like 50 to 85 for like 5k but my layup, which has a heavier impact on my overall would cost me about 20k for the same amount of upgrades.
I've mention this on the earlier videos where most UA-camrs I watch were saying it's cheaper this year for builds
I think 2klabs got people to help out with overall prices like 77-78 was so and so vc but I was saying it's more expensive since you get less attributes than last year
It's not a finesse because the total cost doesn't change, just jumps from attribute to attribute. 92 Post control costed me 1900 vc on my 6'6 build but 90 post control on my slasher costs my 60k but both builds ended up maxing at 90 overall for around 255k
@@OmarTheGoat I get where y’all are coming from in the total but I’m say for instance when I first make a build it’ll cost me 9k to go from say a 60-91 but if I put VC else where and my overall is higher and I go to that same attribute, to go from a 60-91 cost 29k
I think a lot of people have noticed this already with a lot of guard/wing builds with low finishing but high post control for the gold unpluckable

I figured this it in my last build. I dropped all the finishing to bare minimums 65 driving dunk, 45 standing dunk, 71 close shot & 87 layup. I was still to put my post up to 92.
Driving & Standing Dunk seems to effect it the cost of post control the most.

Hey can you speak about getting knock out of contact dunk animations I don't understand why it happens if I have a decent sized green window then I get bump and the whole thing is taken away that's the point of a contact dunk

I noticed this with my 7' center with passing costing less(still pricey) with little to no BH. But I've kinda worked around it without knowing exactly why it was. So this is a nice video so i know I'm not bugging.

You also left out when u upgrade your player the price of upgrades increase drastically as you increase your overall . say u don't max out your 3ball to start in the beginning it might have been 20k a 65 overall but if u don't touch it when untill hit 70 ovr the upgrade cost will rise to 25 30k ish or more

I think the 75 rating is so underrated for so many stats, and for some reason, i think this build makes me think that even more. 75 is one of those stats where you arent the best, but you get takeover, you can get contact dunks, or become a lights out shooter, or great defender. And like you’re showing in this video, not as expensive as stuff in the 90s if you wanna be good at certain things.
Fax stats over 90 are overrated especially in defense all u rlly need is 73+ in most stats

in my opinion i think the builder is strict and balanced. I think the problem is like always, mike wang or 2k in general dont explain the game in its entirety, its kinda up to us to figure it out by playing , making builds, etc... if it was able to be broken then the game would be essentially broken. with the pro play mechanic, the thresholds are balanced between attributes and stick skill. for example, if you know youre jumpshot, you can be successful. but if you go higher, then it will take more skill in your lower areas or youll sufffer. the idea is to max what youre not the best at, and find the thresholds for the things you are good at. for example, if youre a good dribbler, you dont need a high ball handle unless youre confident enough to be efficient in your other lower areas. its a give and take. i appreciate it. role players will have a great time playing their roles but every one wants to do everything, mike wang said on 2k23 that in any game mode, a team of role players will essentially be able to be way better than a team of "do it alls". if you want to do everything, you can, but it will be harder to showcase versus a player who has their boosts in their specific role (whether it be shooting, playmaking, etc...)

I also noticed it's weird about giving certain heights different attributes. I have a 6'11 3 level threat and I wanted to re birth him as I have a better understanding of the game and builder. so I tried to make him 6'10 for better ball handling but making him 6'10 not only took his attributes away but he still had a 98 ovr. then once I switched back to 6'11 he kept the stats from the 6'10 and it was only an 83 over
Any attributes maxed out for height like strength or rebounding will go down if you decrease your height. This gives you more attributes for upgrading other areas. Then you move your build back to 6'11 and maybe your max driving dunk drops so your again at a 98.
I fw the builder all the time, currently almost Veteran 1 right now in the city. No questions asked, all else equal, you get more attribute points to throw around the higher up in height you go. I specifically was messing with 6'8's - 6'11's and noticed this. It's not you, you're not crazy.
Made a 6"8 all offense player first build. Hated it. 3 weeks later made same thing but 6"9. & now I've got the same build just more stats to put elsewhere
Also incase anyone doesn't know. some stats are less expensive depending on your build. Ex: post control & standing dunk is less expensive on a shorter build than a taller one.

Hey laker do u see alot of 73 acceleration guards on pro am? Is it really the meta for 6 6 guards?
Yes, I see it a lot. I only have 80 acceleration on my PG as well. It doesn't impact your speed with the ball, you only need it for certain badges, primarily on defense. I wouldn't recommend going above 80

This is an interesting theory. But not once did you mention that it's always been cheaper for a small guard to raise up stats like interior D, block, post control. And for big men it's cheaper to raise up perimeter D, steal, ball handle.
I like how this works in the builder since I like making balanced builds 😅
Of course post control is gonna be more expansive on a 6’10 center that’s common sense 😅 just like shooting cost more on shorter builds and can pretty much max your post control out without using any attribute points on a small guard
does close shot have a similar impact like the driving dunk? does it make having the post control more expensive
Yes. Any category that is in the same field (finishing, shooting, playmaking, defense) will make other categories in that field more expensive. If I max my ball handle and speed w ball, pass accuracy will cost more. If I max rebounding, perimeter defense will cost more. So on and so forth
There basically capping you from being extremely unstoppable also just a theory but say you only did your physicals and post control first then tried to Put the attributes up after how far away would your build change
Correct, different positions have different stat costs.
Centers are able to get rebound and interior, standing etc, cheaper.
Ball handle and such is cheaper on a PG.
I noticed this a while back, it’s why I pick my “position” based off the type of stuff I’m trying to do.

Next year’s builder will be completely different and take people 2-3 months (and 2-3 builds) to crack. They always switch it up to trick people into making multiple builds.
Not really "exposing" anything. It makes sense that attributes cost more when you are putting a lot into any given area (finishing, shooting, playmaking, defense,). They've been doing this for years. Attributes cost more overall points when you put them up past 80 in any category. They cost more VC to upgrade one you get up there too.

This is how you balance a game and keep build diversity going. 2k community can't complain one year about 6 9 builds and then complain when you have to actually balance the build you make and can't do every bring on one build.
That’s the most backwards statement to how this actually works.
This promotes putting everything up on your build opposed to specializing in one category

I made a glass cleaning spot up playmaking 2 way 3 point threat and it can't do any of those things.
The prices to upgrade is different from build to build to upgrade also.
I ran into something with driving dunk and height. Try a 6’4 with 93 DD and max it to 99. Now try that same build at 6’2. You’ll pick up an extra 2-3 overall points to play with. DD is cheaper at 6’2 than 6’4.
They did the same shit last year you could make a 6 ‘2 with way attribute upgrades and better stats than the exact style build at 6 ,4
Yeah I remember the 6’1s from last year. On this one I tested every stat. It was definitely the driving dunk that got cheaper. Nothing else.
Bro my 6’3 sharp lock gets more attributes than my 6’5 or 6’6 I didn’t notice until remade it. The shorter you are the more attributes to a point I think 6’3 and 7’1 are the sweet spots

Yea you get more attributes because you will be limited at that short of a build …it might look nice but when you get out there you’ll get doged by taller builds unless your just a 3 hunter
Realized this a few days ago when I was making a spot up stretch and decided to try to get a driving layup on him I don’t dislike it I just think for certain attributes that are really strong like a standing dunk it should probably be weighted more heavily.

This is just 2k’s way of stopping meta builds and ‘do-it-all’ builds, like they said they were going to.
Makes sense. I mean, if you upgrade your post control and have little to No close shot or standing dunk it’s kinda pointless (aside from post fades). They’ve also nerfed the effectiveness of post spins and drives this year from last year. Almost needs to be near HOF to be consistent.

The cost of attributes more associated to big men(Interior D, Strength, Rebounding) goes up exponentially as you get taller where as attributes like Ball Handle and 3pt arent affected that much by height
For example, around 90s rebounding on a 6'8 is about 10 points cheaper than on a 7'0. Around an 85 ball handle on a 6'2 costs about the same compared to a 6'6 with 85 ball handle
that's fair though, if you have a height advantage it should cost more, otherwise there would be no point in making smaller builds.
@@chrisa2103 it really isn't at all. Big men attributes cost more as you go up in height while the cost of guard attributes aren't affected by height or anything of that matter
@@cellis8916 yes guard attributes are affected. A 6’6-6’9 guard can’t get as many guard attributes/badges as a 6’2
