    Starting the actual review, the first patch is an electric bass... that's actually a pretty good choice (considering that it is an important sound almost nobody showcased reviewing this thing so far, and is very different from what all previous plugins for MPC could do).

    • @AccurateBeats
      @AccurateBeats  2 роки тому +4

      Well… They definitely stepped up! Comparing complete lines of software instruments is difficult - especially with the price difference.
      If you get the complete set of instruments from Akai, I’d say that you have a lot of stuff to explore same goes for the NI products.
      I think we’re at a point where some of the Air-Akai stuff are for some things and NIs are better for others.
      They’re 100% in the same ball park though, that’s my take on this 😀

    The device in itself looks great and seems like a great solution as a standalone workstation. However, spending 500 more after paying 1800 for it, is just absurd. And the Air designed sounds are not that great, which is a shame.

      I wouldn't hold my breath. Akai is a disease when it comes to product planning. It's like playing Russian roulette with them. I used to have a Force and dumped it when it was clear all their energy and half-assed planning was going to the MPC ecosystem.
      That being said, even MPC will give you a coronary heart attack in the way they snuck the $500 plugin pack drop into what was supposed to be the free v2.11 firmware drop. I suggest dropping anything Akai and focus on MAC/PC applications. A lot less slimy.

The MPC is primarily a sampler/sequencer. I wouldn’t get too worked up about optional instrument plugins. Nothing slimy about it, in my opinion.

    • @MathHammer
      @MathHammer 2 роки тому +2

      To be fair, compare with Roland Cloud instruments and the Fantom synths. You have to subscribe for 99 USD per year or buy individual licenses for the Zencore expansion GUIs + sounds for 249 USD each, outside of a sale. A Fantom 6 has MSRP of 3600 USD, so it is 2X the price of the MPC Key 61. However the Fantom 6 housing is metal, it has faders, and who knows about the guts (similar for Kronos 61). As for what they do, TBH I got out of the workstation KB world about 10 years ago, but the MPC Key 61 might bring me back.

    I loved to FORCE because it actually gives DAW like song creation… could have really done with this, the entire MPC line… is this actually offering much with its price? If they keep releasing new instruments for it then yes it will be in investment terms… but with these new added instruments to the line is it not just a maschine + with a added keyboard? Because this already has a (excuse the pun) massive instrument library… obviously it’s a MPC with a keyboard and extra real estate for more function buttons and more instruments than a maschine + with a keyboard but maschine + has already given this same thing with their product.
    Interested to know you opinion on this direction thought on the subject of this keyboard.
    Because for me I’m not really getting what I would want from a keyboard in innovation of sound and sound sculpting and design and dynamic versatility of playing expression.
    I’m the sort of person that gushed over the V-Synth-GT when that came out and did so for years and years and this doesn’t seem to inspire me this MPC keyboard… just feel like adding the difference in money to a FORCE or a MPC to the purchase of a keyboard synthesiser or work station would be a much better buy.
    What is standing out in the way of sound and a full production here?
    In the FORCE there are great vocal processing and effects, what is coming with the MPC KEY here?… is there the possibility of it being a stage must?… with vocal effects to add two vocalist and creative effects to the mix?
    Not trying to debunk it but search for some extra selling points to draw me closer to more interest in this unit

    • @yungjetski2751
      @yungjetski2751 2 роки тому +2

      For the average consumer, one must buy an interface, a midi keyboard and an mpc coming to around 1200$. The key version just smashes all of that together and gives you the "Thousand dollars worth of synths" so unless you already own an MPC live/one/x, I personally think its a better deal considering the room space you'll save and the content you get.

  • @HighlandStudio91
    @HighlandStudio91 2 роки тому +1

    Though there are some nice synths, pianos, e.pianos & a smattering of other usable patches...there's nothing ground-breaking here. There's a lot of heavy-hyped marketing on Akai's part(claiming that this is the ultimate alternative to desktop workstations, as well as being the top-of-the-heap of hardware workstations)...which is of course, patently absurd. Though the MPC Keys 61 does have some abilities within it's sequencer & sampling engine that other brands do not have(Akai has it's own shortcomings, which is disturbing.) This keyboard was designed to run plug-ins(which is all uncompressed audio)...so the built-in 4GB of RAM is a crippling limitation(which explains why only 8 plug-ins can be used in a project at a time)....wtf!? This makes it virtually impossible to create a comprehensive and polished song(such as would be easily manageable on a desktop PC.) There's no NI Kontakt-level sounds in this keyboard, so what possible use would this be for anyone other than beat-makers? Of course though....you get what you pay for and since the MPC's price tag is only $1,900...it all figures. I really wanted to believe the hype and I love the concept of this keyboard, but it falls too short for me.....so I would have to pass on this(unless Akai ups their game a bit.)

      Your comment makes me want it more

    • @Noise-Conductor
      @Noise-Conductor Рік тому

      You do know most beat makers will will get around the 8 plugin limit by using those sampling abilities that most other bands don't have like "Auto-Sampling" or record each track 1by1 & play as a one-shot or even better - chop it up then mix it up, plus you can still use MIDI tracks connected to hard/soft-ware or drum/key group tracks.
      Remember MPC's didn't start with built in synths or even drum sounds so for most MPC users all these plugin synths are like extra add-ons.
      Just by what your complaining about: lack or RAM & lack of NI Kontakt-level sounds on a MPC, I tell the MPC is not meant for ppl like you.
