Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791) was a prolific and influential composer of the Classical period. Despite his short life, his rapid pace of composition resulted in hundreds of works representing virtually every Western classical genre of his time. Many of these compositions are acknowledged as pinnacles of the symphonic, concertante, chamber, operatic, and choral repertoire. Mozart is widely regarded as being one of the greatest composers in the history of Western music, with his music admired for its "melodic beauty, its formal elegance and its richness of harmony and texture". Speaking of him, Haydn wrote: "posterity will not see such a talent again in 100 years". It's safe to say that was an underestimation - but what exactly made Mozart a genius? Nice mix of Mozart's musical genius, but, with all due respect, the Clarinet Concerto (55.14) should never be played on any instrument except the one it was written for, a clarinet. The Adagio is one of the most moving pieces ever written for the instrument, and IMHO, adapting it to another instrument simply guts the expressiveness of the music.
I rarely complain about music, but as a clarinetist who has played almost all iterations of the instrument, I was truly disappointed by this selection.
OTOH, the selections from the Requiem are among my favorites, having sung bass for the entire K626 on several occasions. Amazing music, and these 3 movements in particular are both a challenge and a great joy to sing!

When I think of Mozart it's hard not to visualize a young Tom Hulce acting the part in that partially historically inaccurate film "Amadeus".
Despite being inaccurate at times and having contributed to spread some false myths, that adaptation is definitely etched in most people's minds! 🙌
I think the real genius is you. You decided to give us multiple aspects of Mozart’s life and then, if we had any doubts you placed his wonderful works in the “background “ to persuade us further.
I need no persuasion! I fully agree that he was a genius and only wish I had a fraction of his talent.
