I don't really agree with this type of framing. That guy asked her out after nicole and her ex boyfriend got back together. (Saying he felt inspired.)They only hung out twice. When he asked her out, HE COULDN'T EVEN SAY WHY HE LIKED HER. He then spent countless hours gaming the pain away. He ended up skinnier and more attractive to her. She was right to rejected him imo. He wasn't rejected because he was fat, it was because he made no real effort to highlight any other good qualities about himself and went straight to confessing. She had nothing to go on other than his looks and a few words spoken and he puts her in a situation where she would have to reject him, that's on him. He put his friend(main character) in a similar situation where he thought he would get rejected too if people don't remember, the main character made it work and now both his friends think it'd be ok for them too. They got the reality checks they deserved and It changed them for the better imo People talk about her being shallow, she's at least self aware of herself and she did him the biggest favor.
